My Weigh KD-8000 Digital Food Scale (Silver)

I recently got into soap making and tried several different scales but I could not find one that was accurate at all. Pros: I’m very pleased With this scale because of the accuracy and the speed in which it records the weight. It has a faceplate on the front of the controls that you lift up and down to keep it clean of oils or whatever you’re weighing. It is removable if you want to remove it. I prefer to keep the faceplate on because I tend to be a little messy at times. The things that I love about the scale is that you can plug it into an outlet and not have to use batteries if you do not want to or you can just use batteries. Please note: the plug needs to be unplugged from the scale in order for the batteries to work. Not a big deal though. Another great thing is there is a feature where you can set the scale to NOT “time out” and turn off. It’s so frustrating to be measuring something and then take a minute to open another ingredient to add to the weight and it already timed out. It’s stressful and annoying. The last thing that I love about the scale is it’s extremely quick and accurate with its measurements. The price point is good. Cons: it does suggest to calibrate the scale but it does not come with a calibration weight. In the directions it’s says to calibrate with a 5kg weight so that’s 11.02 in US pounds. Obviously they are not going to send a 11.02 pound weight. The scale measures grams so a 2 oz weight with the scale would have fixed this situation. It wasn’t a deal breaker for me but someone that buys this for baking may feel differently. The scale is extremely lightweight, plastic feel if you will. Seems like everything is now anyway. I was surprised at first by its weight but didn’t let it bother me after I started using it and was happy with its speed and accuracy.

I purchased these scales to start baking by weight instead of volume, and they’ve been a great investment. The company I buy my flour from highly recommended this model, and I can see why. They’re straightforward to use, seem very accurate, and have made measuring ingredients in grams so much easier. I’ve really been enjoying baking with them and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to improve consistency in their baking.

I really like this scale. I bake bread weekly and also make a lot of new recipes. Weighing is definitely a time and mess saver. I have had two battery operated scales before buying this and they inevitably would run out of battery power in the middle of some culinary creation. That wouldn’t have been a big deal, but they require removing screws to change the batteries. I much prefer this one as I can just plug it in and am guaranteed it will stay with me as long as needed. The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was that I expected it to be heavier with less plastic. But, I would still highly recommend!

Great scale for sourdough baking – sturdy and reliable I use this scale regularly for making sourdough, and it has been fantastic. One of the biggest things I appreciate is that it’s rechargeable, so I’m not constantly replacing batteries. It’s also much sturdier than many other kitchen scales I’ve tried. It doesn’t feel flimsy at all and easily holds my heavier Pyrex bowls without tipping or feeling unstable, which is really important when measuring larger batches of dough. The display is clear and it’s very easy to switch between grams, pounds, and other units, which makes following different recipes simple. If you’re baking sourdough or need a reliable scale for heavier mixing bowls, this one feels durable and dependable. Highly recommend.

I This scale was recommended in a baking group I am in. I couldn't be more pleased. First of all, I checked the calibration with a nickel - Just FYI, it should weigh 5 grams and did! I removed the cover over the buttons, I am weighing dry ingredients and don't need it. I use it plugged in, programmed it so that it is on until I turn it off. LOVE that feature, my battery operated scale, turned off after a certain amount of inactivity, nothing worse than getting interrupted while weighing ingredients to come back to a scale that has turned off. The 2nd thing I love, because the readout in angled, you can put a large mixing bowl on the scale and see the readout. #3.The on/off, tare, units are all separate buttons another massive improvement over the typical 2 button scales I have had in the past. #4 - the plate you weigh on just lifts off, making it really easy to clean. #5 No need for a battery, but have the option. The scale comes with a power cord, that by the way is pretty long, just incase you don't have an outlet close to where you want to use it. So far I have not found one thing I would change. It is pricier than a lot of kitchen scales, but if it lasts the way my baker friends claim, I will be money ahead in the long run. I have replaced the "cheapy" several times. I think this guy is in it for the long haul! I couldn't be more pleased. 1 year later…MINUS 1 STAR: The power supply, which is one of the main reasons I bought a new scale, is cheaply made. The scale wouldn’t turn on, I thought maybe my outlet was tripped, so I plugged it into a different outlet and it worked. Checked my breakers they were all on, plugged something else into the outlet, it worked. So I figured there must be a short in the power supply, sure enough I see that the wires are exposed, the piece that is supposed to deter that from happening is so stiff, it created the issue. A replacement is $15-$16 for a scale that is less than a year old and has been used by a hobby baker.

Like this scale a lot. Especially how it has options for the automatic shut-off...one can even eliminate the auto shut off entirely. I first did not like the plastic moveable ( and removable) protective cover for the readout but now I am used to it and like it. It is not a heavy scale and made of plastic parts so I am careful not to put it at risk dropping it. Easy to clean and surprisingly accurate even in small measuring... I use the gram function. Highly Recommended.

This is the best scale I have found! The footprint isn’t that much larger than my Salter scale but it looks larger because it’s taller. I was able to extend the shut off to 5 minutes which is a huge help. It works fast and exactly as I had hoped.

This scale is a real workhorse. I bake all our bread, so this thing gets used several times a week to weigh ingredients and it's always reliable. Batteries seem to last forever in it, so I'd say don't worry about getting an AC adapter unless you are planning to use it all day every day.

Overview I use it primarily for weighing out carrier oils for soap making. I have calibration weights...and the scale has been bang on right from delivery to today. Very easy to use, especially if you want to re-zero to add all ingredients in a single container. Battery life is very good...and here is an AC adaptor if you want to use it plugged in. I move mine around alot...the batteries make it very convenient. I thought not being able to measure grams to 1 decimal point (1/10 of a gram) was going to be an issue...but it really isn't...even for measuring essential oils. Great sdd to the soap making kit. Accurate scales. Well made and easy to clean. I use the tare function every time to add different amounts of ingredients during the course of making the recipe. I highly recommend these scales.
