We have a 15 year old Border Collie, and last year we were certain she didn't have much time left. She couldn't make it up and down stairs, she seemed depressed, no bouncing or playing, and worst of all she couldn't herd our cats anymore. We tried several vitamins, hip and joint supplements, and some showed some improvement. Then we got these. 1) She loves the taste. It's been well over 6 months and she still looks forward to them, 2) She can run and jump, play, herd the cats, she still doesn't like stairs - but she can go up and down them, 3) They are actually soft (many "soft chews" are like last years Double Bubble gum) these are so soft they will break if you pinch them. There is no denying that she is getting older, but we no longer worry that she won't be there when we get home. We give her 4 every morning. I only have one complaint: with the softness of the chews they crumble in the bag. We have bought some at Petco and they seem to hold up better. When we get down to crumbs we give her 2 chews and 2 teaspoons of the crumbs on her regular food. Not a huge deal, but I would prefer it if they were just slightly more solid and didn't break apart quite so easily.

This stuff helps my dog who was born with only one hip. She's able to jump, run etc. It's helps. It's not a cure but it sure makes a difference.

My dogs love these and they are working very well for them. Even though I said that I would not buy them again from this vendor, I decided if they are that confident about their handling of this product, I would order from them once again. We foster dogs who have been surrendered to our vet and a few months ago, took in a 10 yr old Golden Retriever/Chow mix. He was stiff and slow, had trouble with the stairs and couldn't get in and out of the car without help. So after some research, we decided to try these chews to see if anything might help. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it -- within a week he was moving more easily and within two weeks was jumping on the furniture, running up and down the stairs, and trotting everywhere we go. He keeps up with our 3 yr old German Shepherd and has indulged in a few episodes of "counter-surfing" (working on our positive reinforcement....) We also have a 13 yr old Pomeranian who was starting to have trouble getting around, so we've started him on them and have notice a lot of improvement. Getting ready to place our third order -- oh, and neither one of them are fosters anymore -- we're officially a "foster-fail" and made them part of the family. We've tried various other brands of these with some of our other dogs and never had this kind of success, so we're pretty happy.

My old guy is having some issues with his front legs being a bit wobbly and sometimes giving out on him, he still is his happy go lucky self but can't move around as well these days, which is just awful to watch. I had done some casual searching about it and thought I would try and see if this stuff helped. I bought a package and honestly I wasn't so sure it did anything, after finishing off this one I tried a different that actually had better reviews here than this did, but after using that one it became apparent just how well these ones actually worked. Since it is a mineral supplement the effects come on gradually so it's not always as obvious what is happening until you stop or switch and then see what appears to be rapid decline as the supplement slowly leaves their system. I'm excited to switch back to these, my boy doesn't seem to be bothered by the problems he has with his front legs but there's no way that it doesn't bug him so I'm glad to get him some relief again.

Most reviews of glucosamine products talk about how much dogs love them -- and most are written by people who have recently started using them. I have two dogs and I have tried seven different products. So learn from my experience: Dogs like anything new. So you act like you are giving them a treat but pretty soon they don't want it anymore. You have to cajole them and later get stern, and they are looking at you with cocked heads as if to say, "If it is a treat, why do you care if I eat it?" And you feel like a heel for having deceived them. So instead: 1) When you first start with any glucosamine product, give it to your dog while saying "Take your pill" in the same brook-no-nonsense voice you would use for "Sit." Give your dog a treat after he eats it. 2) About two weeks later, order a second glucosamine product and offer your dog a choice of the two while still saying "Take your pill." Continue to give a treat. 3) About two weeks later, your dog might start showing a preference for one type over the other. Use the last of the disfavored brand and order a different brand. 4) Keep doing this until your dog is choosing between the two brands equally.
