Claims to be alcohol free but says right on the label that it contains cetyl alcohol and benzyl alcohol. what gives????

Cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol meant to keep mixtures like this body wash, which contains oils and water, emulsified into a homogeneous, creamy product. It is not drying the way we think of typical "alcohols", it has emollient properties that can heal the skin and protect from moisture loss. It is why the product "Cetaphil" is called that- cetyl alcohol is a "good for skin" ingredient. Benzyl alcohol has preservative and emulsifying properties that can prevent a body wash or lotion (which is an emulsion- a mixture of water and fats) from separating and spoiling from bacterial growth. It can be drying in some cases, but as there are many skin protectants in this particular product, it is probably mainly there as a preservative.

I prefer thick lotions/moisturizers, how thick is this one?

Its not really that thick but its very moisturizing.

It says "Unscented Therapeutic Lotion" but then is also listed under the lavender scent, which is it?

On the bottle it says that it's unscented. It's definitely not scented like lavender.
