Decided to wait a bit before reviewing. Not fond of 2 days after delivery reviews. So we have a houseful of 4 legged companions here... all shed (of course). This is easily a great vac. Great suction, multiple settings. The "full" indicator for the bag (needs changed) is reliable. Easily viewed on top of the cannister. All in all super nice vac-- btw bassets shed terrible.... if I could get them to sit still I'd vac them!!

Very pleased with this Kenmore BC3005
2-Month Use Review May 2026 After using this Kenmore for 2 months, I still stand by everything I stated during my first use in March. So far the only dislike I have found is the two large rear wheels. It makes it extremely hard to pull the vacuum from room to room or around furniture because the wheels only go one way. There is a third wheel that is near the front of the vacuum and recessed underneath. That one is a caster style wheel. I believe if the two large rear wheels were replaced with similar caster style wheels that the vacuum would be much less cumbersome to use. Still a good vacuum and still happy with my purchase, sans the rear wheels. March 2026 - This is a first-use review of the Kenmore BC3005 Blue Pet Friendly Canister Vac. Purchased March 6 2026. I consider myself a pretty tidy housekeeper and people often mention my house looks nice, but this vacuum has proved them wrong. I had vacuumed 3 days prior to the first use of this Kenmore using *oover upright that is about 10 years old. Except for my kitchen and dining, my house is wall to wall carpet. Assembly - Fairly straightforward. No issues. Manual is easy to understand. Canister - Seems sturdy. A little awkward to pull along unless you're in a wide open area, but this may just be me getting used to a canister vs always having an upright vac Hose - very flexible and easy to work with. Switch out of cleaning heads is easy with a press of your foot. The telescope feature is nice for reaching curtains and under beds. Cleaning heads - all are very useful. I do not have hardwood but found the hard floor attachment nice to gently go over curtains without having to remove them. I did use it to vacuum under a low clearance dresser (3") and it allowed me to clean completely underneath - something my upright was impossible to do. The brush attachment made easy work with cleaning my honeycomb blinds without damaging the fragile fabric. The crevice tool was nice for getting the dust from the carpet along the baseboards. The carpet head has easy foot-tap height change. It did a fantastic job on lifting the pile of my older carpet. Before opening the dust bag I was pretty pleased with how my carpet looked. After opening the dust bag (which I did because I accidentally vacuumed a button), the amount of dust and who knows what else was absolutely disgusting! I had no idea my upright was missing so much. The vacuum bags are great as far as trapping dust and allergens. One of the pics I took after cutting the bag open shows the multi layer assembly. Three layers of fabric tissue and an outer layer of tight bond fabric on the exterior. Nothing escaping this bag! The bag does seem to be too long for the compartment, but I just folded it up toward the opening. So far I am completely satisfied with this Kenmore and would recommend it. I will update this review if I encounter any issues in the future My photos show the layers of the bag and how much debris it pulled in (yea, it's nasty). Video showing using the vac in low clearance areas.

To Suck, Or Not to Suck--what is the difference?
Many Repairs and Less Than 3 Years in & It's a Goner I've written snippets of this review in my head through gritted teeth (yes I know if it's in my head it's not THROUGH gritted teeth please allow me some poetic license, it's been a day) while using this god-forsaken POS over the last 2+ year. While vacuuming, I'd alternate this therapeutic writing exercise with fantasizing about the unfiltered diatribe and possibly bodily harm I would visit upon this "machine's" designer if s/he ever had the misfortune to meet me. Today I've been moved to actually sit down and take time out of my day to put fingers to keyboard. Where to begin? I struggled from the onset with the decision to purchase this machine when my Dyson Animal (rival POS) did me the favor of catching fire, giving me license to relieve it of its duty. But that's another review; back to the matter at hand... I'd had a kenmore canister vacuum, similar to this one before the Dyson. So I was prepared to be underwhelmed. I finally relented and bought it because the beater on the carpet attachment is electrified whereas the one on the f-ing Dyson is "air driven" which is about as useful a you know what on a bull. I was not prepared for the hate-at-nearly-first-sight this vacuum provoked. It is HEAVY. It is BULKY. It does not really ROLL without a LOT of yanking (and correlated cursing). Rather than turn, it ROLLS OVER. Did I mention it's HEAVY? Oh, another special feature? It has a light at the base of the wand, near the floor. This is in theory a useful feature. It lights up the area of floor just ahead of where you are vacuuming. HOWEVER, this light stands nearly 2 inches off the level of the wand itself serving to prevent the floor attachment from fitting into SO. MANY. PLACES. So, turns out, this light's actual function is to taunt you as you vacuum, letting you see clearly all of the dust and pet hair that you will have to go get on your hands and knees to clean. Did I mention it's BULKY? What, else. Oh, I have dogs. They get hair on our microfiber sofa. The microfiber is great long term--really does clean up from just about anything. I've even put all of the covers through the washer and dryer and they come out looking brand new. However, the microfiber is a pet hair MAGNET. So one of the main jobs I got this vacuum for was to vacuum my sofa regularly. I was lured in by the electrified beater on the rug attachment AND the upholstery attachment. The upholstery attachment does work pretty well, but it is small. And I have a life outside of vacuuming, so I'd like to get the vacuuming over with. For the big areas of the sofa--about 90% of the surfaces, I'd prefer to use the larger rug attachment. It does FIT directly onto the handle without the wand. It even makes the electrical connection so the beater spins. However, the handle does not have the clip that secures this attachment, SO, you can push it but you CAN'T PULL it. It falls off. This is more than mildly annoying. My old Kenmore allowed this. Not sure why this one is designed without the clip. Let me see, what else does it do? Oh, yes, it BREAKS. Often. I've replaced several parts on it in the last 30 months. Less than two years in, I had to replace the entire hose assembly to the tune of $140. I suspect this broke in part because of all the yanking moving this thing requires. Maybe it wants to be carried? Did I mention it is HEAVY? The front swivel (I use this term loosely--it operates more like a brake) wheel is constructed of brittle, cheap plastic. I've replaced that TWICE. Maybe they should sell them In convenient 6-packs. Of course that would assume the vacuum will last more than 5 years. It has not. ' Not sure what you call it, but the plastic "collar" piece that helps the wand stand up straight when sitting in the rug attachment broke. So, the wand flops, sometimes whips around whacking anything in its path. Basically, most of this thing is plastic and most of the plastic breaks. That brings us to today. Today, near the close of my vacuuming session, the "check bag" alarm sounded. I opened the compartment, replaced the bag and noticed a flat plastic piece on the floor next to the machine. I looked inside the compartment and couldn't spot where this errant piece may have come from. I tried closing the canister and it became immediately apparent that this piece was the clip that holds the canister closed, creating a seal that, you know, creates a VACUUM. I figured it must have popped off and I'd need to pop that bad boy right back on. NOPE. This piece rotates on two little plastic pins that fit into corresponding plastic rings that are part of the entire canister assembly. Yup. That's right. PLASTIC. Did I mention that all of the plastic breaks? One of these tiny rings cracked. So, my replacement part this time, apparently, is the entire VACUUM CANISTER. The way this is built, the failure of an 1/8" piece of plastic has rendered this sucker D-E-A-D. So, that's where my tale ends. For now. Marooned in a vacuum-less house with two shedding dogs and two teenaged boys. I'm dreading what comes next--the search for a suitable replacement. What will it be? Join the Mielle cult for a cool $800?

Works great, but a pain to haul around.
I switched from using a cordless, rechargeable Dyson to this. There are many things I like better: works better, caniste/bag/filter keeps things tidy when emptying, doesnโt die as itโs corded, and it clearly has much more power. The tools that come with the vacuum are great, I especially like the attachment for spot cleaning furniture and carpet - it does a great job of removing pet hair. Versatile settings for both carpet and hardwood/tile was a must for me, and this vacuum truly delivers on that and your ability to control settings of suction and closeness of roll to the floor. I do find myself getting annoyed with having to carry around a canister in addition to the vacuum. It is kind of weighty and the wheels arenโt exactly designed for efficiency. Overall, I am happy with this vacuum, I just wish there was a smaller/lighter model that still had the same power and worked as well! I feel like the value of this vacuum is on par with others on the market, and I think this one is going to last for years to come.

Four Big Dogs, Perfect Vacuum
I almost never write a review, but this vacuum cleaner is amazing! I canโt believe Iโm writing a review for a vacuum cleaner. Hereโs the deal: I have a black and a yellow lab. I have a Malamute/GSD mix and some kind of a lab/pit/weirdo. Four dogs. My old vacuum was a Dyson. After about a month, every time I vacuumed I could smell a strong awful dog smell, even after tearing the thing apart and cleaning it. It was so bad, my husband refused to vacuum and would leave the house when I vacuumed. I had to constantly spray carpet freshener because my house smelled like dog. I figured it was because I had four dogs. I absolutely needed a vacuum cleaner that didnโt puff out foul dog smell. I researched and read reviews and went for this Kenmore. It was like a miracle took place in my vacuum world. I have been using this vacuum for several weeks. There is zero dog smell. It picks up every thing fabulously. The carpet attachment has a second motor in it and it pulls itself, practically. I only need to guide it. My severe back arthritis loves it. The floor attachment gets into those narrow odd places. I have used it for about a month every other day and I just changed the bag. It has a light that goes on to tell you the bag was full and the light never came on. So I only changed it because I thought surely it was full. It wasnโt 100% full. My house smells better and I think itโs because the suction power is superior and it gets all the dander. Remember, I have four big dogs. This vacuum is a vacuum miracle in my little world. If you have stinky, shedding dogs, I highly recommend this vacuum. It did not disappoint. It is very affordable. I looked at some vacuums that were over a thousand dollars, but this vacuum does everything I need it to and more.

Very impressed with performance.
This vacuum is great! I have used it a handful of times and it does not disappoint. I like that it has HEPA filtration and everything that gets sucked up is contained in a bag. The suction is very strong and it has different modes for carpet types and hard flooring. It is definitely more annoying to use than a cordless vacuum because you have to pull it around but it works way better so to me it is worth it. Itโs definitely not a quick spot clean type of thing to use but it gets the job done when you need a good clean. I also like that it has different attachments for different cleaning needs. You can vacuum furniture etc as well. Over all I have been very impressed with this vacuum even though my husband calls it โold schoolโ.

So far so good!!!
Great machine! I'm impressed with the connections, they seem sturdy. I used it right out of the box. I've had a bagless vacuum for years and decided to go back to the bag! It feels cleaner to me. I love the different suction levels. I was able to change from strong to low for a lightweight rug. I'm 5' 9" the ability to change the handle height was fantastic! I loved the ability to change the tools so quickly. Ready release from the main "head".

Misses the mark in several ways
This is the 3rd generation of this vacuum we have owned over the past 25 years. This one adds a few features, but also adds several annoying issues. Some of them are so irritating, it make you wonder if they actually did product testing. Pros: - Decent suction, with a convenient slider on the handle for controlling it. - Longer wand than previously, so people taller than 5 feet don't need to bend over to use it. Adjustable length is nice, but it frequently sticks. - Nice to get the power head for pet fur, if you bought that model--pretty effective. Cons: - The hose is longer than it used to be, which sounds good but means it is in the way more often. It occasionally whacks the cover of the now rear-mounted HEPA filter and makes the cover pop off and the filter fall out. Or it whacks the Pop n Go cover, making it spring open. - The wand is huge where the tools attach. If you have small hands, you won't like it. It's very awkward. On the old models with steel wand tubes, I could remove a tool with one hand. This one requires putting down the wand and using two hands, which really slows things down. **Critically, this bulky tool attachment point doesn't fit under a standard kitchen kick unless you bend down and hold the wand nearly horizontal. This is the worst thing about the vacuum. It's a real PITA. - The floor brush now pivots forward and back (i.e., in the direction you're vacuuming), which makes it harder to vacuum things like a super low profile door mat or a cat box mat. The brush flops around unless you hold the wand close to vertical or close to horizontal. - The Pop n Go feature is a complete wasted effort. It's so tricky to hook the floor brush or return it to the holder that it's not worth your time. Just bend over and grab the damn floor brush. - The power carpet tool now pivots side to side in the wand, but the head doesn't rotate. The wand just flops around, and makes the power head harder to control. It's a useless feature. - The handle is not comfortable because the angle is wrong.

Amazing and best cleaning vacuum!
This is a power house machine! I use a battery vacuum, for quick temp cleaning of pet hair I have two shedding fur kid dogs. This unit has huge suction power ... and absolutely worth the investment. I have owned 3 Kenmore vacuums.... my first one died after 28 years ...so i had to use my second one 16 years old to replace it in my rental unit..... This machine is amazing.... I am so impressed with its cleaning abilities and how it out performs my older units! Great job Kenmore! Looking forward another decades of use!

Great suction and dependable
I bought this last year during Prime Days; I wanted to wait for close to a year to see how dependable and functional this canister vacuum is. This is my 3rd Kenmore and I have been VERY happy with the brand, and the way it has performed. Over the years, I can see that there have been slight re designs of some of the vacuum components, and noticed that upon reading the owner's manual, that there are some new recommendations for storing this vacuum. Notably, they want you to disconnect the vacuum hose both from the canister itself and from the wand. That way, there is no stress on the hose joints (which has been a problem in older models). As far as suction goes, this vacuum is terriffic. I have been using the HEPA bags, which help to cut down on allergens, and so far, 1 year in, everything is great. From my end, I would highly recommend.

Amazing
UPDATE: now that I have used this for a bit there are a few things i find cumbersome - The hose to the vacuum while really sturdy for older people could be a tripping hazard as it is not to easy to move - the vacuum itself while great doesn't follow so easy and getting around corners it gets stuck and the power head on the wand is rather large and cannot get into smaller places so find myself using the pet tool or just the bottom of the wand but doesn't work that well plus the power head does not work great on stairs so have to use the pet tool on those. The sunction IS AMAZING - though it may sound like i am complaining I am not but people should know these things if going to purchase and have LOTS of stairs. Ok the only thing I can say about this vacuum is AMAZING the suction is adjustable and has great suction!!! Easy to put together and use I was hesitant but am so glad I purchased this vacuum my carpets look like freshly laid. I have two cats and the pet tool is absolutely perfect

Could have been a good idea but was not
UPDATE: YES get the Miele, it is a lot of plastic but it follows you around not you dragging it around. It is lightweight and works 10/10. Don't let anyone but you use it, they just won't understand. ORIGINAL: I got the purple pet one. It is convenient to have all the accessories on it but... it's so heavy and bulky, the pet attachment is already broken. There is so much bulky plastic on it, you cannot just take off the brush and quickly vacuum in the corners, you have to reattach another brush since the telescopic wand is so big. The suction is okay but the brush is too powerful and gets stuck on normal flat carpeting and must be reset. I dislike vacuuming so much and this machine just makes matters worse. Now I am stuck with it at least for another year when most products decide to give up anyway. I suppose the bright side is that we do not have to keep our appliances for 10 or 20 years anymore, they would never last that long. I also wonder if the people making vacuums have ever actually used a vacuum in their lives...

Surpasses expectation
The suction and brush are stronger than my Miele ever was. Brushes and sucks up dog hair and dirt exceptionally well. More cumbersome than my Miele was but surpasses in cleaning.
