The latch on my 2007 travel trailer finally gave up (actually it still worked but the handle locking mechanism broke earlier this year and my wife could never figure out the deadbolt locking sequence). I did some research and landed on the LATCH.IT products, specifically the Black 2.0 model. I liked that they are a USA company and had good reviews and their products appeared to be quality so I decided to give them a try. Unfortunately I received what appeared to be a used or open box item, it had a couple of minor nicks/scratches and the box and product showed signs of being opened but all the parts were there and by the time I noticed the nicks and scratches I already had the old handle off and proceeded with installing the new one. Installation was plug-and-play and I didn't have to make a single modification, everything fit perfectly, including the striker plate (which didn't need replacing but I did anyways) so this kit has everything for a replacement or new install. After contacting their customer service about the nicks/scratches, they gave me a 20% refund without any hassle, which was nice. Considering the lifetime warranty and the fact that it will probably get scratched and nicked anyways because we use our trailer a lot, I was pleased with the outcome. I also like that it looks more "modern" and up to date compared to the old chrome one. The latch is also much lighter compared to the old one but still feels sturdy and the deadbolt and latch actions all seem "solid" and smooth and so I feel like it will last a good long time. If for some reason it doesn't, there's the lifetime warranty and the company seems responsive and I feel like it wouldn't be a hassle if I had to make a claim. Although the company is based in the USA, the product is made in China. Nice that they also included a cool sticker (mine was for Washington state)! All in all, highly reccomended, five stars!

These are great! Let's set some expectations: they're cast zinc, like most latches for RVs. They aren't brass or stainless or anything fancy. But they are all metal. I saw no plastic parts in there. Even the inside deadbolt throw lever is metal. I got them in white. The finish is impressive. They're fully greased and operate smoothly. New seals are already installed. Install was as easy as you'd expect. If you aren't mechanical at all, you can still do this. The trick that might hang you up is that the new seals are uncompressed, so it'll go in at an angle at first, but pulling it into place with the screws is straightforward. Just don't cross-thread anything and get all your screws started before you tighten the whole thing up. You can totally do this. There's an install video available via a QR code in the box. I didn't watch it, but if it's as well done as these latches, it's pretty helpful. The package included both halves of the latch of course, two flavors of striker plates, and twice the number of screws you need. Seriously. I never opened the second latch's pack of hardware. Bonus: the fasteners all appear to be stainless. They have that dull sheen of stainless and though they're magnetic, they barely are. These fasteners should never see water, yet they're stainless. That to me is a sign that the manufacturer is taking their work seriously. Next time I need an RV component I'm going to see if it's available from latch.it first!

This is a great product, instillation is straight forward and the unit comes with four keys. I purchased a second lockset after I locked myself out of the trailer. I now have a hidden key. Apparently, when unlocking the trailer the top lock for the handle was locked before the key was removed. With the handle locked you can exit the trailer. Probably a safety feature. To gain access I had to break the lock. Breaking the lock was easy using a pry bar under the handle. The metal in the handle lock is soft metal and was easily to break. Needless to say I destroyed the handle lock. Still, I liked the lock set enough that I purchased a second one. When leaving the trailer both locks are set to ensure the trailer is secure.

This is a REALLY NICE STURDY lock! We only needed to replace one on our trailer, but we wish we would have gotten the two pack to replace both. This product is so much better than what came with our trailer both in sturdiness, and in the key mechanisms. The keys work more smoothly, and it's easier to lock and unlock it. It was also easy to install. You will not be disappointed! We would definitely recommend this product and brand!

The lock fit and was easy to install. All the keys worked and was great to have so many. Highly recommend.

Update 7-26-22: The seller responded quickly to my message sent through Amazon and offered to ship me a replacement. I had them ship it to my travel destination and was finally able to install it today. I am extremely pleased with how responsive they were, and am upgrading my rating to 5 stars. While this latch is not designed to last a lifetime, it is superior to the plastic one that came from the RV factory and would make an attempted break-in more difficult. Original review: It installed easily without having to modify the cutout in my RV door, which was 3-1/2 h by 2-7/8 wide. The lock cylinder was a bit picky for the first 2 weeks, then it was “broken in”, I guess. I loved the lock until we arrived at a camp last night in rain, and I coud not get the deadbolt to move into the locked position. The orange lever is plastic and it would be easy to break it when forcing it to rotate. Fortunately I had kept the original door lock assembly and had brought it. Otherwise we would have no way to lock the door from inside. Today, I disassembled the Latch-It lock. It appears that there may have been a second ball bearing for the deadbolt shaft — which is not there anymore. The shaft tries to tilt when it is turned causing a jam. I have submitted a question about this problem to Latch-It. Their website says that they offer a lifetime warranty for products purchased through their website. On the amazon page where I purchased the LATCH.IT Black RV Door Latch, the lifetime warranty is also mentioned. I will update this review with the outcome.

Our Nov 2020 Outback locked us out one morning as we were preparing to move to our next project. I simply could not unlock the deadbolt and I had to drill the tumbler out. It was such a nice surprise to receive this 4 days before the earliest promised delivery date. The lockset installed very easily, and is definitely nicer quality. Appearance-wise it looks pretty much the same, but not only does the door shut with less force, it no longer pops open against the locked deadbolt when you pull on the latch to test the door after locking the top lock. This was an issue on both of our RV's (2018 Starcraft and 2020 Keystone Outback.) Very pleased and very happy with this vendor. I've never received a delivery from a US vendor to Canada this fast! My only concern is the key codes appear right on the exterior lock panel. This needs to be changed. RV thefts are up very significantly, and as the 'real' economy continues to be threatened thieves will find a way to get keys cut. Easily visible key codes are an invitation.
