Same active ingredient as Advil Migraine, but better
I’m pleased with Motrin Migraine for my headaches. They have the same active ingredient as standard Motrin/Advil/ibuprofen. But I feel that there is a mental component here in that I take Motrin exclusively for migraines and use other pain relievers (such as Tylenol and Aleve) for other types of body pain. By reserving Motrin Migraine for headaches, it has greater efficacy when I need it. A recent study listed in the National Institutes of Health database indicates that among all OTC pain relievers, liquid-gel preparations of ibuprofen tend to be more effective than others when taken at a 600 mg dosage (3 capsules). While Advil and Motrin both contain ibuprofen, the reason I feel that Motrin is better is a result of the inactive ingredients. Advil liquid gels contain food coloring, and the Advil Migraine preparation contains Red No. 40 which is a common allergen. Motrin liquid gels contain no food coloring. For individuals who suffer from chronic migraines, it’s important to talk to a professional about potential causes and preventive treatments. For common headaches and occasional migraines, it’s hard to beat Motrin Migraine.

It’s ibuprofen in gel cap form
I use ibuprofen when my back is sore, and I prefer gel caps over tablets. Although it’s labeled for migraines, the gel caps have the same ingredient and dosage as the regular MotrinIB tablets. When I do get a migraine, I prefer Excedrin over MotrinIB. Excedrin Migraine has the exact same ingredients in the same dosages as Excedrin Extra Strength. Like regular MotrinIB and MotrinIB Migraine, the only difference is the packaging and marketing of the product.
