We switched from a wall magnetic strip to storing our knives in a drawer. As drawer storage goes, this wood unit is perfect. It fits all of our various sized knives, protecting the blades well. The overall construction is strong and beautiful. The width fit perfectly in our drawer. We chopped off the excess front end on a table saw. Although the concept of storing steak knives/small paring knives between the larger knives looks good in the pictures and would technically provide more storage space, we found that this reduced the ease of access of the knives. You have to squeeze your fingertips between the blades of the larger knives to access the handles of the smaller knives. So we just store our small knives at one end of the divider and leave the large ones at the other end with no small knives between them. Especially because you can't see the blades, we find it necessary to quickly be able to lift a knife to check the blade type, without having to wrangle it from a tight space. Fortunately, this divider provides so many spaces, this isn't a problem. We were very pleased to find that even our largest profile knives fit in this divider in our shallow kitchen drawer (the angle at which they seat allows for this). The only two very minor cons about switching from a magnetic strip to this form of storage are; 1. You cannot see the blades, so if you have multiple knives with similar handles you may have to guess and check when selecting a knife. I liked seeing all of my blades when working in the kitchen to quickly determine which would work best for the various items I was cutting. Also, if you have some you use infrequently, you may forget the blade style and forget to put it to use. 2. Knives that have more weight in the handle will tip backward, exposing more of the blade. None of the tips of my knives are exposed though, so they are still protected. (See pics to see difference between seating heavier knives all the way forward vs seating them back where the handle rests on the wood bar. The heavier handled knife at the very top of the pic has more of the blade exposed when seated forward.) I'm very glad we went with this organizer. It's construction is much nicer than anything I've seen even in higher end kitchen stores. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to go away from countertop blocks and wall strips. (Added note on color: we have maple cabinets. The color of this unit looks great against the unstained interior of our maple drawer.)

This coat to fit nice work was a game changer. I was able to make it fit exactly my drawer specifications, and my knives fit nicely. It was a little pricey, but it was definitely worth it now. I don’t have a drawer full of sharp knives gathered all around and everything is organized in its place.

Rev-a-Shelf is always high quality affordable organization. This knife drawer is amazing. Large slots for the long knives and small grooves between them for paring or steak knives. No more digging in a drawer or knives stacked and making the drawer impossible to open. Just clean lines and functionality.

It was a little tricky to trim this insert to size, but now that it's in the drawer, I am glad to have it. I had a knife block on my counter, another collection of knives stored in the box they came in, and a chef knife in yet another box. Now they are all in the drawer, and I can use the right knife for the job instead of defaulting to the knives in the block. It also has room for a whetstone, a sharpener, and scissors, so everything is all in one place and accessible. Plus there's more room on the countertop now.

I am extremely happy I found this. The quality is top notch. Very well built. We have been through all kinds of knife blocks that sit on the countertops, only to fall over. I can’t stand having anything on the countertops. This drawer organizer has been a lifesaver. It keeps all my knives separate and organized and most importantly they keep there edge.
