Good for Propylene Glycol coolant
If you are using Propylene Glycol coolant such as Sierra, you'll discover that coolant testers for it aren't readily available. An auto parts store clerk tried to tell me that the normal testers would work for Sierra, but that isn't true. So off to Amazon to get the right thing. After I got this tester I tested with both kinds of tester and the reported difference was over 20 degrees. It's nice to be sure of the coolant protection level.

Works just great!
I bought this tester because I use propylene glycol coolant in my vehicles, and a 'standard' antifreeze tester won't test it properly. I have little kids who like to help me work on my vehicles, and I'd just rather have the lower-toxicity coolant around. This tester is cheap, simple, compact, and works well. Testing a fresh 50/50 mix it indicates essentially the same freeze protection level as what the antifreeze label suggests. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 simply because I could stand to have a longer tube to reach far enough down into my coolant expansion tank on my Subaru without having to try to cram part of my hand into it.

Junk
Bought 2 but neither one works great. The floats do not float very easily, you have to keep tapping the glass stem to get them to break free of each other so that they float. I even tried them using just plain water; the stupid things indicated that the water was good to -45. They were cheap so not worth the trouble to return but I'd never buy them again.

Did not work to test RV/Marine Antifreeze.
Although it is specifically said to be used to test non-toxic, RV/Marine, propylene glycol-based based anti freeze solutions, it does not indicate that the premixed solution, undiluted, right out of the bottle has any antifreeze protection at all. (A common automotive, hydrometer, type tester is only good for ethylene glycol based solutions).

Good inexpensive propylene tester
Small, but easily readable scale. Make sure you have propylene anti-freeze for this one, if not get the ethylene glycol tester. Accurate and easily stored.
