With the switch to working from home during the pandemic, I was looking for something to help cut down the amount of sound coming through the door to my office. Along with a some additional items that I'll go into below, these tiles really did the trick. HOW MANY DO YOU NEED: With 24 tiles I was able to fully cover (i.e. no gaps) a standard interior door (32" x 80"), with a few tiles and some scraps to spare. I've included a picture so that you can get a sense of what that might look like. ACOUSTIC EFFECTIVENESS: These tiles significantly reduce sound at the locations they are placed, but whether they reduce sound enough for your needs will largely depend on whether you've left other ways for sound to enter your space. Most obviously, they will not be able to eliminate or reduce sound that's coming through gaps they aren't covering. If your sound is coming through a wall, covering the wall in these should significantly help. If your sound is coming from a door, as was my case, these tiles should be the first step you take in fixing the issue, but you may also want to seal the gaps around your door, depending on your needs. COLOR: I purchased the white tiles, which you can see in the attached picture. For reference, the light source in the picture is a "daylight" color LED bulb, which is a fairly cool white, the trim in the picture is painted with Snowbound SW 7004, which is a fairly stark white, and the walls are (I think) Light French Gray SW 0055, which is a very true gray (i.e. neither warm nor cool). QUALITY CONTROL: Out of the 24 tiles I received, one came with an obvious black smudge on its facing side that wouldn't clean up easily. I was able to use it for scrap pieces around the edge of the door. CUTTING: A standard box cutter, ideally with a fresh blade, was the right tool to use. From experience, scissors are the wrong tool. For my part, I simply used a pencil to trace the lines I wanted to cut, then made a series of successively deeper cuts with the box cutter until I was through. It was surprisingly easy. I was even able to mount it cleanly around the door handle with some careful measuring and removing the fitting so that I could use it to trace the circle. MOUNTING: Based on recommendations in various comments, I opted for Scotch-Mount Indoor Double-Sided Mounting Tape 314H-MED, 1 in x 125 in. foam mounting tape, figuring that the foam cells and the air gap it creates between the door and tile would aid in sound isolation. I cut off 5 squares from the roll for most of the tiles (four in the corners and one in the middle), each a bit under 1" in size, and I still had plenty of tape left at the end. None of the tiles have fallen off after 2 months of opening and closing the door, though I have noticed that a few of the scrap pieces along the edge where I used less tape have become a bit loose, so I may need to add some more. Link: https://amazon.com/gp/product/B0007P5G8Y ADDITIONAL MATERIALS: After getting the tiles up on my office door, I couldn't hear typical sounds coming through the tiles themselves, but I could hear sounds coming through the gaps between the door and the door jamb or floor. After doing some research, neoprene seemed like a good choice, so I picked up a few rolls of White Foam Weather Stripping in different sizes to fit the variously-sized gaps around my office door. Make sure to measure each of the dimensions of your gaps carefully, since neoprene doesn't compress much and that adhesive WILL take paint off your door if you try to remove it later (e.g. I had to remove the 1/8" thickness tape I put on the hinge side because it kept the door from closing). Even so, I HIGHLY recommend it if you want additional sound isolation for your door. In my case, I added it to the top, left, and bottom sides of the door as it appears in the attached picture. It feels like I'm sealing myself off from the world whenever that door closes, making a sucking sort of sound as it does so. It's EERILY quiet. My wife has literally been watching movies at theater volume in the room across the hallway from my office, and I had no clue until I opened the door. I can usually hear when she knocks at the door, but I have to practically shout "come in" for her to be able to hear my response. FINAL WORD: If you're wanting to get sound isolation for a door, start with these, cover your door while leaving no gaps, and then see how it is for you. If you need additional isolation, look into the tape I mentioned above. ------------------- EDIT (2023-05-16): Following up two years later to provide notes on longer-term use. In general, everything has held up remarkably well. The solution I laid out two years ago with the tiles and neoprene weather stripping has proven every bit as effective as I had hoped. A few of the tiles near the latch-side of the door have become discolored with dirt and oils from hands touching them over the last few years. I wouldn't necessarily change anything in response to that, but it's something to be aware of if you're purchasing light-colored tiles for use on a surface that will have frequent touch. The one thing I would change is how I taped them up. The adhesive doesn't really penetrate well into the fabric-like surface of the tiles, so it's a bit easier than I'd like to knock them off by brushing up against them. They're easy enough to put back on, and they'll generally stay in place so long as they aren't disturbed again, but if I was starting from scratch today I'd either find an alternative tape that works better with fabric or I'd use 2-3x the pieces of tape in the hope that it would prove more effective.

These Sonic Acoustics hexagon panels look awesome and actually make a difference. I got the red set and gray set, and they add a really nice pop of color while helping cut down echo in my room. I use them in a small home studio for recording and gaming, and the sound feels tighter and cleaner now, especially when talking on mic. The foam is dense but lightweight, so they’re easy to hang. I used double-sided tape squares, and they’ve stayed up fine so far. Each tile is cut clean with beveled edges, which makes them line up nicely in any pattern. Highly recommended!

These were very easy to cut and install and a year later they still look nice and work very well to deaden the sound in my home office. I work in telehealth and having a space that is relatively free of echoes, while remaining attractive was important to me. They are not overly thick, with good quality material. Would buy again.

**recommendation at the very bottom I have a rectangular study(12'x10', 9'ceilings) with a tile floor, 3 walls(drywall) and 1 large picture window with an old school set of metal blinds. So I needed to cut down the twang of noise to record or watch anything online. The hexagons look outstanding and are great quality. I ordered 3 packs(1ea-blk,dark grey & silver grey) They install easily with gorilla mounting putty. The putty is divided in little squares. I used 3 rolled into balls per hexagon. Two near the top and one at the bottom of each hexagon. I did follow the directions and mashed them down and held them in place for 30 secs. All have held up with no issues for a week. As shown in the pictures, it took all 36 to cover one wall about 65% in an artistic way. I have curtains to help with the window, diffusive objects elsewhere, shelves, an area rug AND base traps(Bekith 12pk 12"x7x7) to help alleviate the noise. The hexagons in concert WITH the base traps removed 90-95% of the echo & tin noise. If you get the base traps, I used blk thumb tacks to hold them in place. The putty and double sided tape were horrible at holding them. **I highly recommend the hexagons for their looks and helping to break up the sound. Especially if you use them with base traps. I hope this helps.

These panels are pretty nice but the sizing is not consistent across different colors. I can’t really speak for how well they work because I am using them on the ceiling of my wood shop. So far I have purchased 2 of the dark blue and 1 of the dark grey. In order to get them to align correctly I needed to do some trimming of an edge or two here and there. This isn’t that big of a deal since they cut very easy with a razor and a straight edge but it is still a pain to have to deal with. But for the money, I’m not really upset. Installation is easy for the most part. I made a fixture so that I would be able to cut them down in order to start the pattern on the ceiling but since they aren’t exactly the same dimensions I had to do one color and then adjust the panel to cut the others. Hot glue worked well to adhere to the ceiling but be careful because the glue will tear the drywall off when they’re removed. I’ve bought multiple colors so far and other than the dimensions being a little off, I am pretty happy with them. They’re not going to completely sound proof a room but they’ll help a bit and they look great!

I purchased these because I podcast and am in a new office suite and liked the idea of these creating more privacy between my office and the second office in my suite while providing a fun pop of color and design... Seeing everyone else's photos and videos was so helpful in seeing the possibilities and so I was very inspired and dove in. First off, these are a good size and the self adhesive ones are so much easier than the others but all in all, they are all easy to attach and the ones that I added adhesive to are staying up well. Second, if you are on a lot of video calls like I am, having this wall as my backdrop has created such a buzz on every call I'm on! Everyone wants to know what they are and a link to them! Bonus if you're an affiliate! Third, they really work. Honestly, I didn't even know how well they worked until I went into the second office the other day while on a phone call and noticed there was more of an echo in that room before I started putting them up! Then when I went back into my office where the wall is complete, I could hear how much better the acoustics were, despite having a window in that room. This is especially exciting because I am doing the same wall in each office, so there is even more sound barrier between the two rooms. If you appreciate more privacy, better acoustics plus enjoy the bonus of having some easy decoration, these are definitely the way to go! Now I may put them in my house if my partner can get behind it!

For anyone looking for a good balance between aesthetics and sound dampening, I believe these acoustic panels work really well! *DISCLAIMER: Don’t expect these panels alone to “completely sound proof” a door. It’s only working so well because I sealed the side gaps with weather stripping, and the bottom gap with a draft blocker. Panels are easily cut to size with an X-acto knife, and after hunting through some comments, were attached to the wall with Scotch-Mount Indoor Double-Sided tape. I divided the tape into 2x2in. squares and used about 3-4 squares per panel. Still holding on strong to the door almost a month later and looking great! Although accidentally, I found these panels stick pretty well to the stiff side of a Velcro strip. If you’re looking for a removable/repositional option, perhaps this could be the way to go? Overall, they work great for reducing a good amount of sound that comes through the door. On the other side of the room where I sleep, a loud vacuum right outside the door is reduced to a whisper! Couldn’t recommend these (along with some weather stripping and a draft blocker) enough :)

Need a lot of double sided tape

Super isolant, si par exemple vos enceintes sont sur le sol, ou sur une étagère ou bureau MDF, le son va s'améliorer, et vous allez entendre immédiatement la différence ! Le plus, c'est que si vous avez ici de quoi isoler 4 enceintes différentes, puisque la mousse se sépare en 4 morceaux. Enfin, malgré ce qui est indiqué, ces mousses marchent aussi pour les enceintes home cinéma. Personnellement, j'ai utilisé les mousses du dessus pour isoler mon enceinte centrale placée dans le meuble sous la TV, et les deux du dessous pour isoler mes enceintes surround arrière. Seul hic, mon chat s'est pris d'amour pour ces mousses, qu'il déchiquette allègrement sur les parties visibles, quand j'ai le dos tourné. Pas grave, j'en rachèterai une autre paire !

Muy buen producto. Eliminé las vibraciones indeseadas, mejoró la dirección hacia la que los monitores proyectan el sonido y el tamaño es Perfecto. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.

Lo he utilizado tal como viene de una vez bajo mi potente bafle de bajos para evitar que el suelo vibre sin molestar al piso de abajo. El resultado muy bueno.
