5 yrs strong!!
I’m going on my 5th year using this device daily, it has rarely ever been turned off. I run it on the setting below the highest, always. I will say it isn’t quiet but it isn’t loud. It creates a nice white noise that is adaptable. I have replaced the filters in it every 9-12 months due to a dust issue living near a lot of farm land, plus I have all hardwood floors, no carpet. I have a small dog in the home who often has company and Im a smoker. Over all I feel like the air is fresh and it helps immensely with dust and dog hair! I never smell my dog or cigarettes in the home. When I come in after work and the house has been closed up all day, I can smell my plugins right outside the front door which is a great thing. I clean the pre-filters weekly and they normally have a good coating of dust and dander that I spray away down the sink. In the summer I sometimes find mosquitoes on the pre-filter! I hit the main filters with the Dyson about once a month as the fine dust does collect and prevent air flow. I have to admit that the original filters did a better job and lasted longer than the off-brand ones that I purchase for about $25 per set but the savings outweigh the loss of quality by far as they are quite comparable with fit and filtration. The sensor is very sensitive to the environmental changes and air flow will increase with change. I love that the front and back are also detachable by sliding upwards and can also be easily removed to be cleaned like the 2 magnetic sides that cover the filters. It has a night mode and a timer feature although I rarely use either. My home is a 1300 sq ft ranch style therefore the layout is somewhat boxy. The device is centrally placed however I believe the lay out of my home would be most benefited from an additional unit as the bedrooms still collect quite a bit of dust but are somewhat partitioned except the doorways. I will definitely purchase another Conway product when my budget allows as I’m very pleased with the reliability and ease of the airmega 400 however it was considered an investment at its price point.

air cleaner
This was pricey unit however got a good price through Amazon, we have run the unit now for about 3 weeks as noted in some other reviews it runs very quite. This unit was the most recommended on many of the sites I checked on. We have a1,400 sq foot one level condo and thus far we have noticed a difference in the air. It feels cleaner , fresher with less dust. Haven't had any odor issues as of yet so unsure how good it removes any house hold odors. It also looks great and is easy to move if needed, filters are a bit pricey but if they last 6 months or more I can live with that. Good unit.

Simple and effective!
Who doesn’t love clean fresh air? I have really bad allergies so an air purifier is basically a must-have, but even if I didn’t have allergies I would still make having a good air purifier a top priority. I sleep better, my apartment smells and feels cleaner, I breathe better, etc. I tried to go cheap twice, and it bit me twice. Before my Coway setup I had a unit that I bought from your favorite home improvement store, and when I went to replace my filter they had stopped carrying the unit/filters. I tried finding the filters online but they were hard to find and expensive for the low quality. Furthermore, it was a cheap cumbersome purifier that wasn’t super effective and was annoying to use. I bought a Coway Airmega 250 (which I still have and love), but I tried to make it my “everything” purifier. I would move the unit back and forth from my bedroom living/dining area as needed, but the living/dining area (roughly 650 square feet) was just too much for this unit. Every time I cooked it would max out and stay maxed out for quite awhile, and it always felt like it was trying to keep up. However, in my bedroom (which is much smaller) It’s perfect! I decided to buy the Airmega 400 for my living area and what a huge improvement! The 400 is more than adequate for this space and I don’t hear it kicking into high gear nearly as often, and when it does it’s much more brief. I now keep the 250 permanently in my bedroom, so not having to drag a purifier around is a nice cherry on top. I am very happy with the quality of Coway products. Both units have a nice heft to them so they don’t feel cheap, the filters fit super flush (they are actually satisfying to install because they’re so flush, hah), the OEM filters feel nice and dense, and I really like that they are one-button-per-function. Instead of using arrows and navigating around on a cheap LCD like my previous purifier, every button on these units serve a single clear function with no frills. Simplicity at its finest!

Very impressed!
Due to my allergies being worse than usual this year, decided to do an air quality overhaul on the home. This included an upgraded whole-house filter on the AC/Furnace (Merv 16), a Coway Mighty unit for the bedroom and this larger Coway Airmega 400 for the rest of our open floor plan. Immediately I notice the build quality of this unit is really nice. Tight fitting parts, nice design details (magnetic doors, for example). Everything visually looks and feels high quality. It is a step up from the Coway Mighty, for sure.. The filters on this unit are impressive. One side is a honeycomb filter media loaded with carbon pellets for filtering out odors, with the other side being the HEPA. Once I had these unpacked, I installed the pre-filters and replaced the exterior covers and got this unit up and running! Operation is very easy and straight forward. I don’t mind the touch-screen style buttons at all, it’s actually quite nice. Buttons are responsive to touch and work perfectly. You have the power button, fan speed selection (with ECO mode) and a button for turning the lights of the unit on/off. Note, at first I thought my power button was broke until I read the short and concise manual which does state to hold your finger on the power button for 2-3 seconds to power off. Worked like a charm! So keep that in mind if you skipped the manual, like me… Oops! Sound level wise, it is practically silent on low. Even sitting right next to it, you can’t really hear it. Medium picks up a tiny bit of volume, but it’s still very impressive how quiet it is. You start feeling quite a bit more airflow at this point, it seems to the be the sweet spot in terms of air being moved and the volume level if you are occupying the room. On high, it’s still honestly not bad but can be a little distracting depending on what you are doing. The sound is simply just air moving, no motor or other offensive types of noise. For those who really like white noise, it’s quite soothing in my opinion! We have a split level with an open floor plan. We have the unit located on our 2nd floor in the corner of the room. The Airmega really pushes air around, you could feel a draft in the other rooms when the unit is on high. Very happy with that, it really circulates the air well. The air quality sensor responds very well to stimuli when the air quality drops. When my dog jumped on the couch nearby, it kicked on to a higher level. When I dusted window blinds on the opposite side of the room, it detected the change in air quality and quickly kicked on high. Even blowing out a candle in the next room, it was detected. Very happy with it’s performance. The air absolutely feels cleaner. Perhaps it is a placebo effect, but there is no denying that this unit is great for removing allergens and odors out of the house. I am very happy with this unit and would highly recommend it!

Really powerful air purifier
We bought our Airmega 400 to handle some basic dust and allergy concerns in the house, as well as another layer of virus and bacteria infections protection. We are a family of 3 and no pets. We do have a central Honeywell F300 electrostatic system (rated at HEPA 13) (including UV light treatment), but we have found that it only works best when the central blower is running full blast (it is loud), so that is not working out for us. We bought one Airmega to try it out first, but I will probably add one more unit. We are in a newer 2100 SF ranch house with 100% hardwood floors and the Airmega is located in an open area (kitchen, dining, family room, sun room) that is 800 SF with high ceilings. This unit is just fabulous for that area! It has reduced dust by 90%. We vacuumed the pre-filter just once in two weeks and it definitely collected dust. When our fireplace is on, it actually distributes the heat throughout this area quite well, which is just incredible comfort. It has helped balance out the temperatures throughout the house. We move it at night to our bedroom suite (about 400 SF) and it has nearly eliminated dust under the bed. My sinus allergies are improved by 90% for sure - basically no congestion and I definitely sleep better due to no congestion at night. The machine, on low, is basically silent at night. I have an opinion that the “auto” mode feature is useless for air purification. Air needs to move to be filtered. The indicator is on blue 95% of the time (so I guess the air in our house is overall clean), which means that the unit would rarely run at all when on auto mode! What is the point of that? Why buy an air purifier only to have it on idle most of the time? It changes to purple when cooking or when the central heat kicks on (maybe some dust inducts). It also immediately detects when a candle is burning 10 feet away. It takes the Airmega about 5 minutes to go back to blue. When there is a lot of activity we sometimes get the yellow/red indicators going, and it clears things up very fast. We basically leave it on medium (which is quiet enough to allow normal conversation and watch TV). It has completely eliminated any visible dust particles in the air and almost all dust on surfaces like lamps and tables. Amazing, but you must have the machine running in order to accomplish that level of difference in visible air quality. Another side note: We have a commercial Santa-Fe Classic dehumidifier with a large 2” HEPA 13 filter in my fully finished 2100 SF basement . We run it year round on fan mode (it is 275 CFM) and the air in the basement is quite clear, especially in the humid months when the unit runs (I switch it to fan mode to get air flowing through it for purification). It was my experience with the Santa-Fe that compelled me to try the Airmega on the main level of the house. Air purifiers (and dehumidifiers) work, no doubt about it. You should know this: After just two weeks of ownership, the “medium” fan speed control stopped working! Amazon exchanged it for us no questions asked, but it sure does leave a very bad taste in my mouth considering the costs and simplicity of the machine. That said, the machine seems well made and appears to be high quality. At the end of the day, it is a plastic box with a fan and basic (thin) carbon and HEPA 13 filters. There is very little carbon in the filter, but we do notice it gets rid of cooking smells. It was packaged nicely (almost like Apple iPhone packaging), and it has a somewhat upscale and modern look. I may add one more dedicated Airmega unit to our bedroom on the other side of the house. Overall, very happy with the machine, but our initial experience is tainted due to the early failure of the speed control (the early failure is reason for 4-stars).

Great performance, exactly what I was looking for!
I almost always put this bad boy on max and at this very moment I have it pointing at the air intake in my apartment. Whenever I clean up or so much as walk by, the indicator changes color. I can vacuum and you wouldn’t even know in a matter of minutes. As far as the app goes, I didn’t realize my unit does NOT have the wifi feature (as it is not an S unit), but I went on the app before I knew this and I only found a few quirks that take some messing around to get through. The app has unbelievably low ratings and bad rep. I’m not even interested because the purifier is very convenient to use. I move it around a lot, too. It’s only ~25 pounds. Definitely, PLEASE get this one. My apartment would be smelling like mold, dust and dog messes right now if I didn’t have it (and clean up a little lol). This is probably the most positive review on any product that I’ve written on, I’m just so tired of breathing in stuff that I wouldn’t want to touch, and because of the Airmega 400, I can come home to and go to bed with fresh air. My next move for cleanliness is going to be a vacuum (maybe a dyson). Update: I just took out the first filters, used a knife to cut out the HEPA filter (I wanted to see what it took out of the air, you know?) and thought I’d see a layer of dust after everything I put it through. While the Inside was dirty and I saw dust, it was just it the fibers of the filter, and this is when I realized that the HEPA filter is over an inch thick. I was impressed. The green side (the side that’s visible on the filter) still looks clean, so I know that the air that’s coming through is clean except now that the filters are older, there is smell coming out. I will say that I haven’t had any problems with the unit so I never had an experience with customer service. Also an update on the vacuum, just got a Shark with a HEPA filter but haven’t used it yet lol The only changes I would want in this air purifier that I know of is a separate activated carbon filter, as the carbon in my filters got dusty and stopped working while the HEPA filter did just fine. Number two is a separate disposable pre filter that is thick and catches most of the fine dust and vapors before the carbon and HEPA filter really make sure the air is clean. Thank you Coway, this was a good purchase.

Helps with Superfine Glacier Silt. Adjustable Sensitivity Levels.
Update: 7/2019: very happy with this unit. We have been having terrible smoke from wildfires all around us, causing headache, eye, throat and lungs to be irritated. This unit has been very effective at clearing the smell of smoke and particulates from the air inside my house. While we hate being inside in the summer, this has really helped us to feel better from the effects of the smoke. Very happy with this purifier! I live in Alaska, between 3 glaciers that pulverize rock into superfine glacier silt. This silt is everywhere and is so fine it’s airborne with a light breeze. With a hard wind, it finds its way through any crack or cranny and coats the house in this superfine dust. You can see it in the air when you look around outside in a windy day. While I don’t expect miracles, I do feel this is helping the air inside my home and I woke up without a headache today. That is soo nice!! My sinuses feel better - not perfect but better. What I really like it that the sensitivity can be adjusted to your preference. I just made mine a little more sensitive and when set on the smart mode, it will adjust the fan to the appropriate level. Neither my cat nor dog seem to mind it. It is noticeably loud on the highest fan setting, but I can’t hear it at all on the sleep and low settings. I also chose this because it has two large unclean air intakes - one on each side. I looked at other purifiers that had only one and/or small intakes. It seems to me that those simply can’t pull in as much unclean air so are less effective. If it can’t get the unclean air in, it can’t clean it, right? The replacement filters may be on the expensive side, but all the Advil, sinus and cold medicine I’ve been taking definitely isn’t cheap. I’ll happily use that $ to buy filters than keep suffering and buying meds. For whatever reason, the larger unit is cheaper than the smaller one, so that’s what I bought. It is a bit large but I can deal with that.

Beautiful Design
I am delighted with the quality, and looks of the Airmega 400. This air purifier looks as good as a piece of furniture. You can't tell it's running it's so quiet. The filters contain a good amount of activated charcoal to eliminate pollutants. I researched air purifiers before buying, and this model was at the top in many places. I am glad this is the unit I chose.
