Excellent NVMe Enclosure for Raspberry Pi and AI Projects
Very good NVMe enclosure — simple, reliable, and easy to use thanks to the tool-free design. Transfer speeds are stable, the enclosure feels solid, and installation takes only a moment. For Raspberry Pi AI projects, especially with Hailo 8 or Hailo-8L / 40 TOPS accelerators, this is actually a very practical solution. Fast external NVMe storage helps a lot when working with larger AI models, datasets, recordings, or swap-heavy workloads. Compact, clean setup and much better than relying only on microSD cards for demanding projects.

Truly plug and play & tool free
After testing several so-called “universal” M.2 enclosures, this is the first one that actually delivers. The Sabrent Tool-Free M.2 NVMe/SATA Enclosure supports both NVMe and SATA M.2 SSDs (M-Key and B+M Key), and in my case, it worked flawlessly with a 1TB NVMe and a 256GB SATA drive — truly plug and play, no firmware updates, no USB setting tweaks, no hassle. The build quality is outstanding. It's made from solid, thick aluminum, giving it a premium feel and excellent heat dissipation. The tool-free, hinged design makes drive installation incredibly fast — it literally takes seconds to swap drives. This is especially useful if you regularly clone or rotate SSDs. The included USB-C to USB-C cable is high quality, and long enough for desk use, though I wouldn’t mind a bit more length. One small gripe: I wish they had included a USB-C to USB-A adapter or a second cable. Not every system has native USB-C, and an adapter would make this even more versatile out of the box. Performance-wise, it lives up to the 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard. Both SSDs I tested reached their expected speeds without thermal throttling, thanks to the aluminum housing acting as a heat sink. In summary: This is a fantastic, well-designed enclosure with true dual-protocol support, excellent thermal performance, and reliable USB connectivity. If you're looking for a versatile external SSD enclosure that just works, this is it. Highly recommended.

Best All-Around M.2 Enclosure – Tool-Free & Versatile!
The Sabrent EC-SNVE is fantastic! Tool-free design makes swapping drives effortless, and it supports both NVMe and SATA SSDs in all sizes (2230/2242/2260/2280). I’m getting full 10Gbps speeds — consistent 950–1050 MB/s transfers with my NVMe drive. The included reusable thermal pad keeps temperatures in check, and the aluminum build feels premium and solid. reliable, fast, and incredibly convenient. Highly recommended!

Good enclosure with a major problem ... for a Crucial T500 M.2 with a heatsink attached
External Aluminium M2 NVMe enclosure. Well as usual I didn't check all the detail preferring to just plough in there and purchase this enclosure based on the favourable reviews listed here. I have no problem with this enclosure its very solid. It has its own internal heatsink strip (very thin) so standard M2 NVMe drives will not excessively overheat. It shuts down nice and tight and all in all i think that it is a very good buy, not that I am in any way shape or form a computer geek or computer savvy. However I do know about image backups and cloning which I have been undertaking for years. That's why I required a second enclosure to work alongside my existing enclosure which I had previously bought here some time ago. No its a good enclosure however my problem is that it will not accept my new Crucial 2Tb M2 drive that came with its own heatsink strip. The main moan, for me anyway, is that the new 'flavour of the month quick Crucial T500 M2 drives ... which I purchased WITH a heatsink strip attached' is to wide to go into this enclosure in the first instance. So all you computer guys out there should be aware of this fact. (see my pics for further clarification) Other than that its a solid enclosure. Its just a shame that I cannot use it for the purpose that it was initial purchased for. All IMHO of course.

Works very well as advertised
I love this product. I have two M.2 SSDs (NVME and SATA) from my old motherboard and wanted to reuse them as external storage devices, so I bought two of the enclosures. The installation manual was easy to follow, and assembly was smooth. Transfer speeds were instant on a 165MB video file utilizing a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port. However, while it does say on the packaging that it is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux, compatibility with other operating systems is a mixed bag from my testing. Testing the enclosures worked on iPadOS with no problems, but Android running on a phone was able to detect the drive, but any reading/writing would cause the drive to become undetected and re-detected. I suspect this is caused by the USB port not delivering enough power to the enclosure or that there are no working automatic drivers on Android. Overall, the product is wonderful, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to reuse their old M.2 drives, albeit with the supported operating systems. The only question that I have is whether the enclosure will fail before the M.2 drives do.

Very good enclosure
I use this with a M.2 SSD for computer backups. The board was easy to install in the enclosure. For taking a disk image (about 300GB with Macrium) it is fast and gets warm but not hot, and the size is not a great deal bigger than the board fitted. I have found it to be very good

Easy to use and a good hand warmer for the winter.
Yup, does what it says on the tin. I actually bought the UGREEN M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure too for the USB 3.2 connector, that is handy as my USB C port is on the back of the laptop that I just bought: Acer Nitro V17 AI ANV17-41 Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 260, 16GB, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060, 17.3" QHD 165Hz, Windows 11, Black. I've had the old NVMe drive in both and real world use appears to be the same. I'll do some benchmarking in the future to see. This particular laptop has two NVMe bays, so in the upcoming Prime Day sale I'll think about buying two drives the same and populate the second bay. Might bring the laptop upto 32GB too, if the price is reasonable.

Fast Delivery, Cheap, Good Performance
Arrived in less than a week even after ordering from a different country. Package was sealed and had everything as described. Put in an nvme drive from my old pc so I don't have to fidged around with the motherboard on my new rig (I'm clumsy). Works like a charm!

Bought a second one after the first. 977 MB/s write, tool-free swaps are the reason
I use these to edit video directly off of and for storage. The first one I bought to put some 1TB SSDs I had lying around to work for a project. It worked well enough that when I later bought a 2TB SSD, I bought a second Sabrent specifically to dedicate to it, so I could keep large media on it and cut from it on my MacBook Pro. Real numbers, since "fast" is not useful: with a Samsung 990 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe inside, I measured 977.7 MB/s write and 906.0 MB/s read on Blackmagic Disk Speed Test from a MacBook Pro. That is the USB 10Gbps interface saturating rather than the drive, which is exactly what you should expect. Do not buy this hoping to see your NVMe's rated internal speeds. No enclosure on this interface will do that. What matters more for editing: it handles 4K and 8K ProRes 422 HQ and H.265 without issue, and Blackmagic RAW up to 8K. It only stops being viable at 12K DCI 60. I cut video straight off it without copying files locally first. The tool-free design is the real selling point, and it is not a gimmick. Most enclosures make you unscrew the housing, work the drive out, and reassemble everything just to change drives. With this one you press the button, the top pops up, and you swap the drive. No screws, no small parts to lose. If you rotate between multiple SSDs the way I do, that difference adds up fast. No heat issues at all, which was my main concern going in. NVMe drives in small aluminum enclosures have a reputation for cooking themselves, and I have not run into that under sustained editing work.
