I have very sensitive skin and am prone to fast contact dermatitis reactions resulting in itching, irritation, and sometimes (but not always) inflammation. Oops I touched grass; tried on a piece of clothing; brushed past a flower taking a walk; touched a friend’s horse that was socializing with my own; walked around in the air—it can feel frustratingly random. Clothing is often an issue—specific fibers and laundry products. Lately, my tall boot socks (variety of fibers from wool to cotton to synthetics) combined with the summer heat and my riding boots have been resulting in me coming home and developing extremely itchy shins in the hours after riding/barn chores. I found this lotion after researching to see if there was anything medicinal besides benzocaine or steroids (both of which are in my arsenal, but neither of which I want to spread across large areas of my skin in summertime for other medical reasons!) that I could try. I needed something stronger than the aloes, calamines, etc. also already in the arsenal. I decided that I wanted something with pramoxine, which I had not tried before. After comparing several options, I went with this cerave anti-itch lotion and am keeping it in the fridge for extra cooling relief. I cannot believe how well this works and how quickly it works. My shins stop itching so quickly that I can tell exactly where I need to apply more if I miss spots! Works for bug bites too. My adult child is a total mosquito attractor and has used it on extensive bites on their legs after a long walk. It doesn’t smell. You can turn the pump cap sideways to lock it, which has the advantage of lessening the amount of space it takes up on the shelf (nice size for in the refrigerator—where I highly recommend keeping it). In addition to being fragrance free it is lightweight and absorbs quickly, but not so lightweight that it feels watery. The texture hits that Goldilocks sweet spot of not too thick and not too thin—a balance that I find lacking in many moisturizing lotions. I don’t feel like I’m smearing something on my pores that will block them. It’s a little lighter than my favorite (slightly scented) non-medicated light moisturizer with aloe (Green Leaf Naturals Amazing Aloe Vera Eczema & Psoriasis Cream with Manuka Honey). I am far less stressed about my next visit to my Mom’s house where I frequently get hives both from her sweet cat who is, unfortunately, a heavy Fel-d-1 shedder (unlike my own cats) and from the extremely hard water (I dread doing laundry there even with special detergent). People, this medicated lotion works great. I hate writing reviews, but I was driven to write one for this because it really works, and if even one fellow sensitive skin person gets relief because I wrote this review I will feel like I have done a good thing. I think I missed a spot on top of my foot where the boot was rubbing, so I’m going to go apply a little more there right now!

Better than anything else for itching. Takes good care of skin.

I recently started taking medication that I never took before. I’m out in the sun all summer long. I couldn’t understand why my legs were itching so bad when I would come inside from any type of yardwork watering planting flowers whatever. I googled what causes this found out that I have a bad case of photo sensitivity from this medicine. I’ve tried other anti-itch lotions and I am scratching constantly. I wake up in the middle of the night, scratching no matter what I do it’s itching. If I never go back out in the sun or always wear heavy sunscreen it should help but in the meantime, what do I do right now?! I’ll tell you what I did and what you should do if you have this problem for any reason - buy this. I know it’s pricey for the size bottle but it’s so worth it. IMMEDIATE. RELIEF. 🩷

Sometimes my legs get the itchiest skin ever — I must just have really dry skin, and nothing seems to touch it. I’ve tried dozens of lotions, and most do very little.CeraVe Anti-Itch Moisturizing Lotion doesn’t completely eliminate the itch, but it quiets it down enough that I don’t keep scratching to the point of bleeding. It’s a solid option if you have super dry, sensitive, or extremely itchy skin.

Bought this because it contains pramoxine hydrochloride, a medically approved compound known to inhibit nerve signal paths which trigger skin itching. Helps to relieve skin itch while providing moisturising functions to the skin. This is one of the few brands in the market offering this lotion, and I bought this on Amazon because it's cheaper and is not available in retail stores. Dermatologist recommended.
