Great price for a great toilet seat!
Even for the low price, itโs a great toilet seat! I replaced a wooden seat and have made my family members very happy. Easy enough to install even for this senior. I can highly recommend this Kohler product.

Difficult to thread!
Looks great! Good price! BUT, took me 30 minutes to get screwed on (the screws and wing nuts Donโt thread easily)! And it is not a soft close lid. Great for temporary, new, toilet seat but ai wonโt buy again.

Perfect, after a minor retrofit.
I needed the quiet close version with quick release. It seems this option isnโt available in the Brevia line. The Cachet line may have the feature combination, though at a higher cost. After inspecting the quick release quiet close version I was replacing, I discovered something Kohler doesnโt seem to advertise: their Brevia line the same hinge part across Quiet-Close and non-Quiet-Close quiet close version, with the difference being only two parts in the hinge hardware. By swapping in the damped โQuiet-Closeโ hinge cartridges from the old soft-close seat into the K-4774-0 Brevia Quick-Release, I created a Brevia hybrid seat with: The Quick-Release function (from the 4774) The Quiet-Close soft-close hinge (from the donor seat) Perfect fit, because the shell was already molded with grooves to accept both types of hinges The K-1134250-0 ($27) hinge kit shows the two dampers I replaced in this toilet seat; the parts on the diagonal far left and right of the product image. With the quiet close feature, the K-4774-0โs lid seems to close slightly slower than the one I replaced; that one has a slightly heavier lid. Though, itโs a trade off for what I needed and at this price, while keeping most of the K-4774-0โs parts. Otherwise the toilet seat is sturdy, easy to remove, with the quick release feature. And with my re-engineering itโs now a soft close toilet seat.

Toilet seat
Easy to install. Very quiet when you close the lid. I absolutely love that I can remove this toilet seat easily to clean underneath.

PERFECT KOHLER REPLACEMENT
I have stuck with Kohler brand replacements as they offer a predictable color match and fit. Although my toilet was 25 years old, I was able to find a perfect replacement. It was reassuring that a window on the outside package showed the color. An important reminder is the opened packages cannot be returned so check the color and measurements carefully. I installed the new seat in less than 10 minutes. Although light weight it seems sturdy. Hopefully it will last 25 years as the original.

Looks like the Kohler brand can no longer be trustedโฆ
This toilet seat is basically nonfunctional after just a few months of use. It looks fine, fits fine on my Crane toilet, but within a couple of months of use, it started getting really looseโit slips and slides all over the toilet. The โhardwareโ it comes with to attach to your toilet is all plastic. My prior seat at least had a metal screw. Of course, I took a screwdriver and tightened it, only to have it get loose a couple weeks later. Now it gets loose every few days. I am the only person who uses this toilet, so it gets โnormalโ use, and I am an average size. If I only had to tighten it once in a while, I might put up with it, but now the cheap plastic hardware wonโt hold for even a couple of days of use. I have to keep a screwdriver next to it for constant tightening. Also, it has a โfeatureโ that I did not realize it had before buying it: you can โremoveโ (pull off) the seat, without removing the hardware. The back of the โtabsโ that screw it on to the toilet are OPEN. Why would anybody want that??? I suspect that this may also contribute to its inability to stay properly attached to the toilet. I will never again buy a toilet seat with that โfeatureโ, and now know to look for and avoid it. I am also going to look for a toilet seat with METAL hardware, at the least a metal screw. This seat is not even comfortable. Only six months later, and I am fed up with it, and looking for a different one. Very disappointed with this Kohler seat, a brand I have trusted in the past. Well, not any more: I will never again buy a Kohler product.

NOT WELL DESIGNED BUT STILL A GOOD SEAT
i bought this model toilet seat because i thought it might be easier to clean and chemicals wouldn't hurt it so bad as a wooden one. I didnt really read the reviews before hand. To me its just 14 dollars.. these days that doesnt buy much.. I go to McDonalds for breakfast and it costs me 8 bucks so to me this seat is really cheap. Koehler usually makes pretty good stuff but this is the exception. The problem is mainly in the mounting bolts. The bottom nylon aligner/nut... The top of it is pointed and its purpose is to center the nut into the porcelain. And also this combo nut does not have a very strong structure to it. If you over tighten this nut while installing it just strips out. One can use the old hardware or they do sell the regular nylon nuts in hardware stores. You shouldn't have to modify something that you just bought but we all know its not a perfect world. One thing i noticed during installation was that if you keep checking to see if its tight the hinge wobbles and it will trick you into thinking its the nut and thats when it gets stripped. The hinge is hollow plastic and then there are some straight pins made of plastic that fit into it. End result is a sloppy fit. After i put the little support tabs on the bottom of the seat it fit alot tighter. I like the plastic over the wood becuase it looks alot more sanitary.

Good quality and good design
The plastic is solid and the cover has a nice modern look. It fits an American Standard round bowl and the white color is proper. The detachable feature is nice and the bolts are steel. I had a cheaper seat that I gave back - the lid was so thin that you can't sit on it without its collapsing - this one is stronger. If you can't find the instructions that's because they are printed on the outside of the box and are not very clear to read or follow but it does work logically. The inside of the box has the product, two attachment sets and two little rubber feet that go to fill their spaces under the seat. That means that when you drop the seat, rubber, not plastic hits the rim. All in all it is a good product - better than the cheap wooden ones with the heavy lid that doesn't completely cover the seat or the cheap thin plastic ones that collapse. The detachable aspect is a plus but you should be careful not to misalign it.
