Great knowledge from the best in the industry
This book is about the core Disney Imagineering building blocks that deliver incredible results. I find I can only read chunks of it at a time because my brain is buzzing with ways to apply the information and processes to my work and life. It's a Master Class on creating Disneyesque success of your own. Read, process, apply, repeat.

Excellent book
Very helpful book. It has a lot of ideas about how to improve any kind of creative project. Also, as a long time fan of the Earthdawn tabletop rpg, I really enjoyed the insight into how it was designed. Highly recommend.

A New Tool for the Leader's Creative Toolbelt
As a bona fide Disney enthusiast, especially when the Imagineers are involved, I eagerly looked forward to Louis Prosperi's recent book, "The Imagineering Pyramid."Using existing material published by Disney plus conversations with Imagineers, Prosperi weaves together an interesting thought captured in the book's subtitle: "Using Disney Theme Park Principles to Develop and Promote Your Creative Ideas." It's a very compelling challenge: look at the existing body of work done by the Imagineers for Disney's theme parks and translate those principles into a "pyramid" of 15 principles grouped into 5 tiers. But instead of building an object like an attraction, Prosperi challenges the reader to do something with the principles that may be even more daunting: be creative. Even though I was familiar with most of the principles and their origins, I enjoyed reading how Prosperi linked the ideas together into a unified whole. Especially helpful were the questions at the end of each chapter, with a general focus as well as specialized applications for game design, instructional design, and management and leadership. The questions will help anyone have a better grasp of the concept and how to apply it an almost any field. The "Imagineering Pyramid" was especially beneficial to me on a recently completed 3-day "field trip" to all four theme parks at Walt Disney World. As I walked through each park, the genius of the Imagineers inspired me to fill several pages of my Disney journal with new ideas for development - exactly what I believe Louis Prosperi had in mind when writing the book.Leaders in any capacity will benefit from "The Imagineering Pyramid" as a helpful tool, providing a creative framework for solving problems.

Okay book
Some of the examples of how to use the pyramid seemed like a stretch to me. Kind of shoehorning a project into a concept type of thing. In the real world I barely have a day to complete a project. And I got bored with the book about half way through with the repetition. Disney methods are great for creativity but applying them to everything you do is a little much.

A Well-Organized Guideline to Imagineering
When searching for Disney imagineering books on my Kindle, I stumbled upon this book by Louis Prosperi, and I have to say I was remarkably glad I did. The Imagineering Pyramid is a well-written personal quest by the author to learn and research the tactics and techniques the Imagineers use to design our favorite attractions. What is appreciated is how many personal relations there are between the Imagineering Pyramid model and the techniques Mr. Prosperi has used in the outside world in his career. He depicts how these tools can be used not just for Disney attraction imagineering, but the gaming industry as well. This useful pyramid structure can also come in handy for novel writing, board room presentations, business pitches, and much more! The 'post-show' elements in particular are helpful to provide a summation of the main points of the 'pyramid' chapters, and the combined chapter 'post-show' check-list towards the end of the book near the appendix section is also a great feature. Perhaps my favorite chapter was Chapter 17 - it's a small world effect, since in a way that combined many prior elements into one; read-ability, core themes, story, all of that could be combined into the repetitive reinforcement that 'it's a small world' brings, among the other examples of the Tiki Room (Tiki,Tiki Tiki Tiki Room) and so on.In many ways this reads like a 'textbook' on imagineering. This is a must-have book for anyone interested in creative design or the methods behind the magic of Disney parks!

Don't Get In The Box In The First Place
If you want to think outside the box and be more creative then you need to not be in the box in the first place. Lou has written an excellent guide for you to become more creative in any part of your life and for any project. Quit thinking about how its always been done, that thinking will take you backwards. Think about how its never been done or how it could be done.

A must if you are interested in Theme Parks
I really love this book and the wonderful work done by the author who not only understood what are the process involved in the development of a Theme Park, but he was able to see the system within. Buy it! is really worth every dime.

Exactly what you would expect
The concept of the imagineering pyramid is something that interested me for a while, so I got the book and read it over about a one week period.Lots of good information, a lot of which is common sense, but this book puts a lot of this knowledge in to perspective and backs up what it is saying with good examples.Towards the end of the book there are chapters on how the pyramid could be used in 3 different jobs.

This guy didn't work for Disney Imagineering
I want to point that out because his book is essentially his personal opinion on best practices. Essentially the book is a deconstruction of various other Disney books. So this what he thinks are the Disney Theme Park Design principles, but they may only be the outward facing (publicly known) design principles. Not a bad book, but you should be aware of this.
