A comprehensive how-to manual of Polyface Farm’s signature designs—with tips, tricks, and a half century of lessons learned through trial and error. Have you wondered how to build the Polyface broiler shelter, or the dolly to move it, or an Eggmobile, Gobbledygo or Shademobile? For folks getting started, folks adding enterprises, or folks wanting a cheaper bootstrap way to build portable livestock infrastructure, Polyface Designs has all the diagrams and do-it-yourself building specifications. Joel Salatin wrote the text and Polyface former apprentice and engineer extraordinaire Chris Slattery did the drawings. Ultimately practical, the book includes how to build a corral, a home-made head gate and even how to select the right axle for your project. Square footage requirements for the deep bedding hay shed and area advice for pig pastures make this the definitive repository for a lifetime of Polyface experimentation. A massive volume, its 568 pages are in full color and beautiful enough to be a coffee table book even though you’ll use it in your shop. Don’t let the cover price scare you; one building tip can more than save the price of the book. Review: A must have! - This book is amazing. It has everything you need to get your homestead going. Tons of details, building supplie lists, diagrams. We love it. Thank you! Review: An amazing book - An amazing book, I can’t wait to start building.

Easy to Use
What I liked: Informative, yet still an engaging read Directions are easy to follow, even for a novice Lots of pictures to compare What I wish might change: This is a dense book packed full of information, yet I’d still like to see it in a more out-on-the-farm friendly format. The page size is good, but could future editions have an option of laminated pages with a lay-flat spiral binding? Or maybe an option for purchasing in a .pdf format, so the user could print out only the section of the book to be used at that time? No big changes, just little things Overall, a good investment and I am glad I purchased

Easy to follow instructions!
I bought this book because I spend too much time in the "planning/overcomplicating things" phase of any project and never get to the build/complete the project phase. This book gave me a detailed materials list along with easy instructions to follow. In one week I completed the chicken tractor and dolley. I had been PLANNING to build a tractor for over a year prior to buying this book. Also the dolley instructions got me to use a welder which I had never really done before. I followed their designs/instructions but have the sense of pride that I built the items myself! I am going to build the chick brooder next. Long story short: I bought the book, bought the project materials listed in the book, and BUILT the items I needed. I recommend this book if you are like I was and in the "stuck in the planning/ overcomplicating things" phase of your farm projects! You can do it!

Great Resource for sustainable but commercial farmers
I bought this book because of the great things that Joel Salatin has done. While the book describes the projects as scalable, it means that you can scale it up by building more structures, not smaller ones. I plan to keep it in the hopes that I can scale them down on my own or in the event that I'm able to grow my small farm in the future. This book is not for homesteaders.

Great Rabbit Designs
I built the chicken tractor dolly, rabbit cages, and rabbit tractor. The rabbit tractor performed way better than any other design online. It is easy to move, uses cheaper local sawmill lumber, and the slatted floor prevents overgrazing or ripping up grass. I built the rabbit cages without the dividing wall, and my rabbits enjoy the extra running space in the winter. The dolly was easy to weld, and I use it to move my chicken coop and other equipment.

More than we bargained for…
Very detailed and in depth drawings, measurements and animal mannerisms that made the designs what they are. You can see why Polyface is so successful as the big picture is in the details. Can’t wait to put this knowledgeable book into practice on our own homestead.

Not localised, be aware, its for americans only, NOT metric system
The content of the book is 10/10, however i returned it, because of stupid American (inch, feet, gallon, etc) system. it really pissed me off. Please burn, purge everything that has this imperial system, it must be erased from existence and forgotten.
