Pennington Smart Seed Perennial Rye Grass Seed Plus Fertilizer, 3 lb

I was very skeptical about this product and claims of within7-10 days. They didn't lie at all, I bought and would love to be their sponsor. Put me in a commercial and let me speak the truth and nothing but the truth. This product is legit 10 out of 10. My HOA sent me a letter about the empty spot in my front yard due to the 2 worthless trees roots that are going crazy and creating bald spots in my grass lol.. They wanted me to purchase some sod to and fix it by August 30. I had 30 days to fix it. It arrived August 5 2026 and by/before August 10th my grass stared growing and now the patches are fixed. My only mistake is not getting Bermuda grass. I dont care, my HOA is please and so am I.

Two weeks ago I put down a bag of Pennington Smart Seed in several bare areas, and I used some Scott's EZ Seed. After regular watering and cars, the Pennington grass is about an inch tall and thick. Scotts? Hasn't sprouted at all. I bought another bag of Pennington to use where Scotts failed. This is a solid product.

We seeded a whole new lawn, and threw down seed mulch on top of it to help keep the seed moist and from eroding or being eaten by birds. We watered 2 x a day, had new growth in 3 days and a full lawn in less than one month! Beautiful product! No weeds in the seed. (The weeds we have, we already had anyway.) Love this product. BUT we sowed a lawn with this last year also and the south TX summer killed it since we had watering restrictions. If we had been able to water more, I think it would have done better. We are currently overseeding with Zoysia for summer conditions and the rye grass/roots will help keep the zoysia moist/shaded/in place to support it's growth. This grass seed is fast and beautiful if you need a fast lawn, and it's a great grass to use to support future grass sowings.

Did it's job. Came in a little spotty but that's probably my fault. The areas in my pics were completely bare and no grass because I dug up what remained of the crab grass. I used this seed alone (no other fertilizer or food) to fill in several empty spots in my lawn, right off my patio where my dogs go. I did not water it as directed. It rained later in the day after I planted it and then twice that week I sprinkled buckets of water over it because I live in an apartment and do not have access to a spigot or hose. So I was crossing my fingers that it would take. It rained 2 or 3 times within the 2 weeks after planting. It was a little slow to come up, with signs of sprouts at about 2 weeks. By 1 month it was coming in pretty good. 2 months later, it's mostly full and green, with a couple spots that didn't come in. But that's probably due to poor watering on my part and a lot of wind and traffic and urine still from dogs. So for the price and lack of following directions properly, I can't complain. It did the job I needed it to do. I'll buy some more for the empty spots and fill them in and it'll be complete.

Too expensive, I would buy big bags for the same price from same company. I recommend Pennington Kentucky 31 for under $40 for 20 lbs bags

Every seed individually coated with fertilizer. Seen growth within a week. Very satisfied

Great seed.. it germinates well and seedlings do not die off in extreme temperatures. The thin bladed rye grass is beautiful and durable. It’s costs a little more, but it’s worth it. I replanted a big section of my lawn several years ago and used this specific seed. It still looks great.

Grows in patches and not as a carpet. Watered every day since bought in April. Used a rake to slightly bury the seeds because of the birds so most would not get eaten. Used two bags of the seed. The results are in the photo. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!
