.com In a parallel universe the Misfits would be gods. Admittedly it would be a universe created by darkly humorous filmmaker Tim Burton and every day would be Halloween, but such minor considerations have never held them back. In fact, for over 20 years their brand of gothic punk has attracted a sizeable cult following in the real world and with a new lineup taking shape in 1995 they found themselves attracting a fresh set of fans. Cuts from the Crypt raids the vaults of the past five years to showcase some of their best and unreleased moments featuring current vocalist Michale Graves. It's a no-nonsense collection of metal, punk, and rock located halfway between the Damned and Iron Maiden, with its tongue firmly placed in its cheek. In homage to the aforementioned director the first six tracks are from a lost demo called "Mars Attacks," while other highlights include their grimly faithful version of the '60s hit, "Monster Mash." Best of all is the ludicrously camp "I Wanna Be a NY Ranger," which suggests that the Misfits are what the Village People would have become if they had swapped the disco for the graveyard. Now that really would be a parallel universe. --William Luff

but there are also a few unreleased and rare gems that make this one of my favorite Misfit albums ever
I have been listening to the Misfits since 1988. When the band reformed in the mid-90's, I was not having any of this "Michale Graves" character due to my belief that the Misfits were simply not the Misfits without Danzig. Then as Pandora emerged, Graves era Misfits tracks began to find their way into my listening experience. This led to picking up American Psycho and Famous Monsters on Amazon and after listening to both cd's I became not only a Graves era fan but now actually prefer the Michale Graves era to the Danzig years. I could elaborate on why this is the case but this is not the place for that.Circling back around to my review of this album, there are a few tracks which contain some early drafts of songs from Famous Monsters, etc., but there are also a few unreleased and rare gems that make this one of my favorite Misfit albums ever. Songs such as 1 Million Years B.C. are proof as to why Graves, Only, Chud and Doyle were the best incarnation of this band that ever existed. Find out for yourself and grab a copy.

Hidden Gem
Like stated in the headline this album is hidden gem from the Michale Graves era Misfits, fast punk rock tunes. The album does include demo versions of songs from Famous Monsters and American Psycho, but I'd say it's worth the purchase of the unreleased songs. Also I tried looking for this album on iTunes but couldn't find it so I purchased it off Amazon, this album should be owned by any Misfits or Michale Graves fan.

they did the mash!
As a long time fiend(and a fan of all three eras of the band) I have got to say, while a few tracks on this album you have no doubt heard before, the versions featured here are a rare look into the misfits recording process. The best tracks (in my personal opinion) are dead kings rise, Dr phibes rises again, monster mash, and my three favorite tracks, fiendn without a face, bruiser, and no more moments. I recommend this to any collector fiends.

Michale Graves fan!
I'm a HUGE fan of the Michale Graves era of the Misfits so this was a great addition to my music collection. Something to keep in mind, if you already have Famous Monsters and American Psycho, then this album may not be worth a purchase. It has the demo versions from all of the major songs on both of those albums.
