I haven't used a more expensive version but this thing works well. I stick my part in a zip lock bag with simple green original or HD mixed with water, dunk that bag in the tub and it works wonders.

When restoring older auto parts for sale, Job 1 is getting them clean enough to get to the sandblasting box. They arrive with oil, grease, and years of dirt and grime. This cleans them up overnight and does a really good job! After removing from the solvent, they are wiped dry and then straight to the sandblaster for a factory fresh finish.

I bought this primarily to clean air guns used for painting and drywall texturing. For paint guns, I have found that it takes a few cycles to really get them clean.The tank does get plenty hot, and overall build quality seems good. Noise level is acceptable and not more than expected for this type of machine.My primary complaint is that paint that was cleaned off the air gun components by the machine sank to the bottom of the tank and apparently baked onto the stainless steel. The pattern it baked into is a rectangle, which I’m guessing is where the heating element is under the tank.I have not been able to remove it using either physical scrubbing (which I did lightly so as to not scratch the metal) or chemicals. It doesn’t appear to affect the ability of the machine to clean, but it is annoying for the stuff you’re cleaning off parts to bake itself onto the center of the tank.

One of those items you wished you'd bought years ago. I usually rinse my carburetors in the parts washer first to get the sludge off then let them soak in the ultrasonic to finish up. Pine-sol and simple green are my solutions of choice.I bought this one because of the knobs vs the touch pad.

As I was packing it up to get a replacement, I noticed it had a fan on the bottom of the machine. THE FAN NEVER WORKED AT ALL! Without the cooling fan, it was heating up all the electronics inside and possibly might have started a FIRE! A foul toxic smell was coming out of it. And I mean TOXIC, like burning plastic.I ran it for 15 minutes to de-gas some cleaner. If used on the floor its hard to read the knob settings. After 15 minutes the heater smelled like burning plastic, like its just about to burn itself out. I had to close the door and run a room vent fan because it stinks. I'm wishing I had got one with digital readouts, easy to read. Its very noisy but they just do that. The transducers are very strong, so thats a positive. They are sending me a replacement on sunday, THIS is why I usually buy these kinds of things on Amazon, so I don't get stuck with trying to get a refund or hopefully a replacement that works like its supposed. This model sure does get some bad reviews for not lasting very long. I would recommend spending a bit more money for another brand with better reviews and better made.

Bought one of these to avoid digital controls, and I liked it enough to get one for my son. Effective ultrasound, very good heat and quality build. Most of the time I fill mine with plain water and put parts in a smaller glass container with cleaning solution into the water. Still cleans great, and then no cleanup of machine needed - just drain and dry it.
