Despite a lot of lukewarm and even negative reviews, this inexpensive product did the trick for me. I have an old Kitchen Aid toaster oven. When the timer knob broke after many years of use, I was displeased to find that there were no replacements to be found from the usual websites; the part was listed as “obsolete” and “no longer available.” So I took a chance and ordered these. One of the adapters fit perfectly, and now I’m no longer faced with the choice of using pliers to turn the timer on or throw out a toaster oven that works well in every other respect. This may not be a product of the highest quality or durability but it seems plenty good enough for me. The main shortcoming is that the knob lacks the time intervals of the original, so I have to rely on the countdown timers on my stove or microwave instead.

The size of the knobs was noticeably smaller than the typical knobs these are intended to replace. Additionally, none of the multiple adapters fit the standard sized controls they are supposed to fit. I had to file out the hole on one of the adapters to get it to work. Would not recommend!

Some reviews complain about this but I think anyone with a little intuition can figure out how to install and use them. Adapters come in 3 sizes with two different kinds of short D hole adapters ( 4 of each kind with 2 different D hole sizes ) and one kind of long D hole adapter, 4 each of that kind.Splines on each adapter mate with molded splines on the knobs. Spline mating is "lose" but that's fine... it allows the knobs to be easily removed to allow cleaning the surface under the knobs. The D hole adapters are a "tight fit", and require some "tapping" like a hammer ( maybe with a coffee cup ) to install them... but they SHOULD be tight... no setscrews... strictly a friction grip... The knob height ( when installed ) can be adjusted by driving the adapters only partway down the mating D shafts. ( or prying them up, if they are over driven, by accident )In my case, I needed some vertical knob clearance because the knobs had to be "pressed down" to enable shaft rotation... and that activates the spark igniter mechanism...These are a little tricky to figure out, but I didn't have to modify or "grind down" anything to make them work. Money well spent, in my opinion... Worked well enough for me to take the time to write this review...

Quality

These would not go onto the shaft. I had to use a drill to ream and enlarge the profile to make it big enough to push over the burner control shaft. Not only is the diameter small the d shape id not correct. Be rady to drill and file.

I believe theses are better build than the OEM knobs my burner came with. 3 different choices for switches sizes. The fit was tight and the inserts are geared to the new knobs. Thick plastic and very inexpensive. Highly recommend.

There are three sizes for each of the 4 knobs. None of them actually fits perfectly anything, not any size, because I don’t think anybody looked at the knob that they were trying to replace and to see that the straight part is supposed to be at the diameter of the circle, not away from the middle. If you look at the pictures, you will see the knob I was trying to replace and the adapter for these knobs. I have never seen, in my entire career, a knob that has that shape. No knob would fit unless it is smaller than han the hole in this adapter and basically the slit would not matter where it is. Because obviously, the diameter of the hole that they put in the adapter is smaller than the diameter of the shaft I t’s supposed to go on. The only way I was able to make this fit is by using some very thin files and file the hole until I was able to put the adapter on the shaft. After that, because the knob itself is too big, I had to file some more so that I could take it out and store the crockpot with the knob out so that somebody doesn’t hit it by mistake and basically fractures the knob inside the appliance.. Therefore, if you don’t understand what you’re doing and you think that the size of the adapter is close enough and you force it onto your appliance, you will break the switch. I would not recommend this. If this would be just a couple of dollars maybe it would be worth the price, but because you have to work on it after you get it in order to make it work on anything, it is absolutely not recommended.

Measure the outside diameter of the knob you wish to replace and compare it to the product's dimensions. Even a half-inch difference results in a substantial change in usability and appearance.The construction is questionable as well because there is no metal bushing on the knob where it mates up with the stove's control shaft.
