When you travel a lot, you learn how to pack very efficiently... as much material as possible, securely packed, coming as close to the "weight limits" as possible. Compression packs, whatever... it's hard to NOT go past an airline's luggage weight limit at times, and all the more so when you're returning home with a bunch of souvenirs. That's why I love traveling with a luggage scale. I KNOW whether one or more of my bags is over the limit, and can repack accordingly to ensure that none are "above the line." My only complaint about this is that it's not QUITE as accurate as I'd really hope for. I can measure "34.8 lbs" on one weighing, and then "34.6" on the next, and then "35.1" later... all on the exact same item of luggage, without any added or removed contents. There some "wiggle room," you see. That's hard to get past. It's not like this is a lab-calibrated scale. But you need to bear in mind that it's not 100% accurate. CLOSE, but not "perfect." You have to give yourself a little tolerance, in other words. If your carrier will bounce your bag if it's over 50lbs, you do NOT want to use this and measure "49.9 lbs" and trust that you'll be OK. But if you measure "47 lbs," you can be sure you'll be fine. Still, this could confuse some users, so I can't give it a perfect five-star rating. Ideally, I'd like to give it a 4.5, but the slight inaccuracy COULD potentially get SOME less savvy users into trouble, and it deserves a slight "ding" for that. On the other hand, this is INEXPENSIVE... and easily replaced if it gets lost or damaged during travel. A more accurate unit would inevitably be heavier, more expensive, and more delicate. So, I can encourage anyone traveling to get this, but just to understand the limitations of such a "nicely priced" unit.
