Installed product today, followed manual / fitting instructions that was very good and easy to use. I have 1 question though, how do I know if the bulb / unit is actually working. I have seen others that light up to say the unit is working. I now see during the darker hours the unit is well lit up to show bulb is working.

Leaky ballast
I had the old version of this filter that leaked after 3 or 4 years and was so out of warranty. Given that I had a spare tube for this, I purchased the upgraded version. The ballast on this leaked as well after less than a year and some rain which tripped the electrics in the house. As you will see from the photo, its seal is no good. As per the Amazon returns policy, I have contacted the manufacturer who doesn’t want to know (in fact citing Amazon’s return policy as a reason for them not wanting to know!). I only need them to send out a new ballast and I can fix it!It’s a good filter, but not really built for being outside in the UK weather.I’ve got a second UV filter (an Oase filter) which I bought around the same time as my first filter and it’s still going strong.

Excellent!
A first class product. After a troublesome summer (hottest/ sunniest for years) I’ve battled the green (algae) pond with my old 55w UV filter which kept breaking down. In the end, accepted a replacement unit was due. The Evo55 UV from Evolution Aqua has been amazing in terms of effect. Easy to install, great looking and has cleared ‘pea soup’ in 10 days. Absolutely delighted! Highly recommended!
