Simple
Works great. Easy to use

very accurate
I trust this much more than I trust my TDS meter than has a salinity function. You have to calibrate it, but after calibration, it's dead on accurate. Any type of distilled water it hits exactly 0.

Easy to use and pretty cheap
When I was first getting my fish tank setup, I knew that I needed a way to measure the salt level. This was perfect, as it comes with a little pipette, as well as microfiber cloth to clean it up a little. Just place a few drops of water on the black area, flip the lid down, and aim at a light source. You might need to calibrate the lens a little bit, but it has been very reliable in measuring my salt levels.

Wonderful!
Before I bought this, I had tried a mechanical salinity tester and an electronic one. They read significantly different PPT amounts for the same water sample. This was the tie breaker. It was much easier to use than I thought it would be, even though I have significant tannin in the water being tested. No problem. It was still very easy to read. It's well made and well packaged, too.

Very inaccurate, I bought as a spare but it fluctuates bad
I have 2 of these and my old one never fluctuates, I also test calibration monthly with distilled water and only this one changes. I recently went to use this again and thought my salinity was really low and was worried but when I went to check calibration it was high. I double checked my other that's a year older and calibration is still perfect and my salinity is within spec. How can this show its low then when tested show high, it's complete junk and will kill coral and fish if u rely on it
