I use gentian violet often on places that just won’t heal. Many years ago, I couldn’t get rid of the thrush in my baby’s mouth, so I used gentian violet and the thrush disappeared. It helps heal my daughter’s scrapes and cuts, it seems like overnight. I even used it on my cat’s battle injury that wouldn’t heal because he kept licking it. In a week, the puncture wound cleared up. Only drawback is that gentian violet stains everything purple! I have found that using a Q-tip for applying the medicine is the way to go, use the Q-tip and throw it away, and let the medicine dry or put a bandaid on it.

I have been using De La Cruz Gentian Violet for years. Ever since my kids were little and it has never failed me. Any time they developed blisters or mouth sores (like from stomatitis or hand, foot, and mouth disease), I would carefully apply a small amount to the affected area, and within a day or two, the blisters were completely gone. It works so quickly and effectively! What I love most is that it’s gentle yet powerful, and a little goes a long way. It’s definitely a product every parent should keep on hand for those unexpected minor cuts, sores, or irritations. I always make sure to have a bottle ready in my first-aid kit. Highly recommend this product, it’s truly a lifesaver and one of those old-school remedies that still works wonders today!

Started having this ongoing sharp pain and sensitivity in one boob. Weird. Looked it up and figured my symptoms match w/ a candida infection, so I got this as many recommended it. I'd rather use this than go to the doctor. Sounds like prescription anti-fungals don't work that well. Plus docs always assume bacteria and who knows what they'd prescribe. I used this 1 to 2 times a day for about 5 days, and it seemed to cause some relief, but still had some pain. Reviewers said to stop using it after about 5 days, so I did and tried an OTC antibacterial cream, just in case bacteria had been the issue. But that did not help and the pain was reverting back to being much more intense. Tried to make a doc appointment, but couldn't get in for about a week, so I started using this gentian violet again (after having taken a few days off). I thought what the heck, this pain is pretty bad, so what could it hurt? Worst case scanario, I have to explain to my doc why my boob is purple. Used it for about another 4 days and now my boob feels as right as rain. Cancelled the Dr. apptmnt. I'm really glad I found this remedy. I did not know that this same item I had used for microbiological gram stains would help infections. It's pretty cool. As far as applying, you really don't have to worry about it rubbing right off, like a cream. It is a liquid and it dries pretty fast. Obviously, keep in mind if you use it like I did, your bra is kinda gonna turn purple, so don't be wearing your most expensive Victoria's Secret. As far as people complaining about staining while applying: I just dipped a Q-tip in it, and applied and had no issues. Sometimes I got a little bit on my fingers, but it comes off your skin pretty easily if you use some tea tree oil soap. Did not have an issue getting the bathroom all purple or anything like that.

The bottle was not sealed properly so when I removed the plastic around the bottle the actual bottle was open and the gentian spilled out all over my shirt, chair and blanket. It is purple and was very difficult to clean! I could not get the stain out of my shirt. No good

I use an inhaled corticosteriod that leaves me open to thrush infections in my mouth. A doctor actually recommended that I try gentian violet and I found that it's an incredibly effective treatment for these types of infections with none of the nasty side effects of taking antibiotics. My sister is also prone to getting ringworm for some reason and it effectively treated that for her with just a few applications. Warning, it does stain EVERYTHING it comes into contact with a very DEEP and completely PERMANENT dark purple color. If you plan to use it near anything you hold dear, take every precaution you can possibly imagine. Put down a sheet or something, if you have to. It takes about three days for this stuff to completely wash off of skin, by the way. I found that out the hard way. Still, I'm giving it five stars because it's actually better than antibiotics at getting rid of fungal infections. It's the one non-traditional remedy that I can think of that actually works. I've used it on thrush, athlete's foot and ringworm to perfect results and I'd buy it again in a second if I ever needed more, though one bottle is probably going to last the average person or even the average family at least several years. Oh, and it does have an unpleasant taste. It tastes almost exactly like nail polish remover, just much milder and less repulsive. It's just the faintest taste of acetone, but it's worth it. Anything you use it on will be purple for a while, but there are worse fates than being purple. Like having a fungal infection or paying a lot of money for antibiotics that kill all the good stuff along with the bad.

Este producto ya lo solía usar en Colombia, es un producto excelente y me alegro mucho haberlo encontrado aquí, es muy bueno para cerrar cualquier tipo de herida superficial en la piel externa, desinfecta y sirve como antiséptico. También para las llagas en la boca, en este caso lo usé en mi gato en una infección que le dio en las encías y se curó, ya que en mi país este producto se suele usar mucho en personas como en animales por su excelente resultado en cicatrizar heridas. No causa nada malo ya que es natural. Mancha mucho, así que recomiendo usar guantes o tener precaución con un cotonete. Con un par de gotas es más que suficiente.

Worked wonders on my dogs hot-spot. Looks vibrant even more so if it gets on fabric, but washes out easily.
