VIVOSUN 6" Metal Inline Fan 240 CFM, Exhaust Fan for Home Ventilation

It's louder than my box fan BUT it is no longer hot upstairs. Good trade off in my opinion. I don't need to supplement my HVAC with air conditioners anymore which were also loud but worse they shut off and on all night. At least this fan is a constant sound. I only plan to use this product on really hot or cold days to help my HVAC reach upstairs. It was over 100 yesterday but upstairs was comfortable without using window air conditioners. I have it plugged into a timer so I don't have to go in the basement to turn it off and on. It turns on 2 hours before bed and runs all night. I am happy with it, a VERY cheap way to help boost the HVAC on these hot days. My electric bill last month was higher than Snoop Dogg, I know this months bill will be much nicer without the extra air conditioners and box fans running. I look forward to the boost this winter too, Michigan winter's can be brutal!

I purchased the 4 inch in this model as well. Customer service has been fast to work on issues. My first had to replaced, I reordered the 4 inch again. It works nice, is fairly quiet. Everyone says 4" is perfect for the 4 tier greenhouse. Maybe for plants but not for mushrooms. I ordered this one, the 6" with nearly double the CFM and THAT is perfect for the mushrooms. It is a bit noisier, but eventually I will be able to tune it out. It works perfect and gives me the negative pressure I needed. I put mine to timer, on for 10 seconds, off for an hour, what an improvement in growth! Will definitely get another for back up lol

I use 3 of these in my heating ducts to help move air over long runs. First, the install was fairly simple (though I had to cut the wires for hard wire install, not plugging them in). The plug allowed me to test each fan before install, which was nice. The crimped end was not really crimped much. The wavy look was deceiving, I had to bend them in slightly. When I checked with a 6" duct, they were identical, until I bent them in. Finally, the fans themselves are not too noisy. However, when you consider moving air at a higher volume down a long run of 6" ducting, it sounds like a turbo in a big truck. They are pretty noise from that aspect. Just be aware.

I use this to extract heat from a portable A/C unit. I needed a fan with metallic blades due to heat. The heat it is exposed to will warp plastic fan blades. I was worried about the fan motor’s exposure to heat as well. This fan (in my application) is exposed to 145 degree internal duct heat for hours at a time which is right at the end of the motor’s advertised tolerance. It has been working without issues for over two months in Florida weather. I run it for as long as 6 hours straight, as needed. I use this fan to extract exhaust heat from a portable 9000 BTU A/C unit in my garage. This unit may also have use in a hurricane aftermath scenario (as in cooling a tent erected inside the house for sleeping (powered by a gas generator located OUTSIDE), if the power is out for weeks. This fan is hard mounted to a plate which I fabricated which seals the window opening completely. It can be removed from the window in less than 30 seconds. It also locks the window to help avoid entry from outside. I insulated the original flex duct with commercial grade insulation material used for A/C ducts in attics. The portable A/C unit is connected to the insulated duct, and then to this fan assembly at the window plate on the other end. The straight 4 foot duct run has two 45° elbows... this fan creates a vacuum in the duct to draw the heat outside better than the A/C u it could before. These portable A/C units are completely useless unless you facilitate the extraction of the heated air they produce. The uninsulated plastic exhaust ductwork they come with simply transfers all the heat the create right back into the room before it gets outside. It’s so hot in fact, it melts and distorts the window mount that comes with the A/C unit, allowing the heated air to literally blow back into the space you are trying to cool! It would heat and cool the garage simultaneously. Incredibly stupid and costly. To remedy, I insulated the exhaust duct from the A/C unit all the way up the the fan (at the window plate) in order to keep the heat in the duct, and not let it radiate back into the garage airspace. This fan sucks the hot air out. The window/fan mounting plate is made of 3/8 finish grade plywood, and painted with a two part epoxy, as to be waterproof and look nice. The fan is mounted to the plywood with a metal ring I fabricated using rivets, and it seals with a gasket. Control of the fan is manual, via the same power strip that supplies the A/C unit. The sound level is lower than the A/C unit’s noise output. The result: My garage can now reach 78°, with a 50% humidity level on a July day like today. Without the AC, the garage is 85% humidity, and 95°F.

Using this blower to move air through residential duct work to farthest room from HVAC. It has lasted for 3 years running 24/7 and makes that room temperature consistent with rest of the home. It is fairly quiet, but can still hear when running it (sounds like low level of white noise). Combined this with a pressure sensor at end of the main return trunk from HVAC and works like a charm. Strong buy recommendation!

Put the fan right against the duct going to into the 2nd floor. It was really very noisy. I see now 2 years later that there is supposed to be a piece of accordion duct between the fan and this metal piece that goes up through the walls. It ran for two years (bought it May 2024 and it is May 2026). The fan stopped and I looked here to see if there is a reset button. It wasn't much cost, but quitting in two years was unexpected.

Works great using it as an exhaust fan. But a second one to put in another area for an intake fan very low noise have to touch it to make sure it’s on.

This is a great secondary fan as it doesn’t have any speed controls, just plug and play. I also have a Vivosun intake/exhaust fan with a speed control on the way but this little fan is good to have for your exhaust/intake depending on your setup for your grow tent. Noise isn’t too bad and I’d say it’s right in line with a typical bathroom exhaust fan (hell it’s the same thing) so don’t expect it to be stealth but it’s not loud by any means. It pulls a lot of air to keep the tent cool so I couldn’t be happier. I purchased a 10x6 intake connection from Home Depot for about $20 and it gets the job done. Apologies for the crummy setup in the pic but it gives you the idea. This fan arrived in the Nick of time and I wanted to cool it ASAP as it’s a tad warm here today. Happy Gardening!

This works excellently as an exhaust ventilation fan. It is powerful enough that it pulls the tent walls in very well, so it definitely moves a good amount of air. It is not terribly quiet, but it is also very powerful, so that is the trade-off. There is no built-in timer, but I used it with a smart outlet when I wanted to give it a break now and then. Recently, I have had it running pretty much nonstop for the last few weeks with no issues. Overall, I would highly recommend it if you need a strong inline duct fan for ventilation.

It is a bit louder then i thought it would be, but to be honest, its tolerable.. not like some fans, works great for the enclosure i built to take smoke away from my laser cutter. powerful little fan, easy to install, and great price! thank you and would DEFINITELY recommend to others.

This fan is good and removes enough air for my 3x3x6 tent, enough to give me some negative air pressure when tent is closed up. Have not noticed any grinding noise from the fan as some have reported yet. For longevity of the fan it's best to mount horizontally and not at an angle as this could cause some uneven wear on the motor. The fan was loud before hooking up a long enough duct which has silenced it considerably(sounds like a bathroom fan on low). This fan is great for the money and if you do not need to run carbon filter or speed controllers.

Using to move air from an overly hot room in my basement into a colder laundry room. It moves the air well with not a lot of noise. Most of the noise is from the air rushing out. The 6" flexible vent hose fit well and was simple to install. There is not switch, just a direct power cable and plug. I use a smart switch to control it based on the weather. I used the suggestions in another review to reduce any noise: I hung the fan and hose from bungee cords. I put 2 small hooks in the ceiling on either side and looped a cord between them along the length of the run. The pipe and fan sits inside these 'cradles'. It is in the basement below my bedroom (no insulation between) and I can barely hear it. The laundry room is toasty warm now.
