Each caplet is equivalent to half a gram of fiber. Which is the typical amount for the type of fiber used (polycarbophil). That is a bit of a loaded question, however. A gram is not a gram when it comes to fiber supplements. A gram measurement of one form of fiber can be vastly different from a gram measurement of another.

Will this still work if you chew the tablets or do you have to swallow them whole?

I used to take these when I was younger and would just chew them, worked the same. It does have a dry-cement taste tho so ilI always chew them then flush it down with liquids.

What is expiration date?

The last ones I bought were EXP 07/21, but if you can find a good deal on containers that are currently at or a little over expiration date I would buy them because the ingredients are somewhat inert and there is really not much worry about detrimental changes in the product due to age (as long as the seal under the cap is intact). Avoid product that is more than six months to a year over expiry.
