can this be used for radon mitigation? i.e. will it bring in outside air and expel inside air (to decrease radon concentration of inside air)?

Accepted Answer

It helps but is not a total solution.  I set this up to bring fresh air to the main floor and expel air from the basement in hopes to bring down radon levels while improving overall air quality.  It brought our radon levels down to ~6 from 16-18.  I use Air Things radon detector to monitor levels.

Does it come with a controller?

No it does not.  I purchased the Fantec Eco touch controller which is really easy to wire.  If I recall it only needs 2 wire 18 gauge doorbell type wire.

Can you mount on a wall

Mine is mounted to a wall just below the ceiling. The duct work is then above the ceiling. It works great, and has internal washable filters.

Does this go through your existing hvac ductwork or does it need it's own ductwork?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You could connect it to the return and supply sides of your forced air heat or ac system. Or you could pipe it with 5" duct (or maybe 4" for a small space) to draw air out of the bathroom (substituting for the fan) and into where you need fresh air most (usually sleeping areas). I prefer a combination, ducting it to pull out air from baths (instead of bath exhaust fans) and adding the fresh air back to the house ducting so it distributes wherever needed. Booster switch available for bath installations, to make unit run on high for 20 minutes- does a better job and lasts a lot longer than a bathroom exhaust fan!
