Great foundation for creating your personal Diagon Alley!
Fantastic quality! All pieces fitted exactly to each other and the book nook was sturdy once assembled. The instructions were a bit sparse so take your time and carefully study all the pictures when assembling it. Note that this is just a canvas for your own interpretations and it is up to you to paint, add and imagine the rest! I decided to make my own signs, add small things peaking out the windows and paint the surfaces to match. The light was easier to assemble than expected and there is a video you can watch to help. The metal rods are for the windows btw, that wasn’t obvious when I started. I’m very happy with this and the birthday girl will love it

Customizable Book Nook - Any Fantasy World
I enjoy the Harry Potter world, so when I saw this book nook, I was intrigued. Once I received the kit, I immediately saw the possibilities to create other fantasy worlds. I am a huge fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld and thought this kit would mimic the streets of its main city. I read all the reviews on this product before I started, which was very helpful. I knew going in that all the decoration would be up to my ability to paint. I think others could do a better job, but i like to think that my painting gives it a nice quirky feel, like the city I am creating. Pro's: The pieces were clearly marked and relatively easy to put together. GLUE, GLUE, GLUE - open ventilation!!! I really enjoyed all the various window shapes. The sign options gave me a lot to choose from. I was able to personalize them by measuring the template and printing my own. The remote control for the lighting is an A++++, best of all the kits I've done. Cons: The Lighting is tricky to wire. I had some help and we're still not sure everything is in the right spot. The pieces for the window interior frames kept breaking, so i have more "open" windows. The worst part is getting the window pieces together, cutting the wire, etc., but it is doable. The plastic window inserts were hard to shape. It would probably be worth also adding some pictures in the window to give them some depth. Customization: Like others, I didn't think the cobblestones were exactly what I wanted. I used aquarium gravel. In retrospect, I would have searched for bigger stones, but overall am happy with them. If you don't want to find stones, using was provided, I'd recommend placing the cut pieces closer together and creating a caulk layer of some kind. White glue with paint added, maybe? Rounding the edges a bit and applying some paint techniques would enhance the basic look. I added some greenery to create window boxes and to soften the edges a little bit. I sectioned the brick work and painted each sections bricks a different color palette . I added metal corners and a new cover to make the book seem aged. One of the signs was for an Alchemist's Guild which is always on fire, so I singed that sign. For the DIscworld purist, I have clearly mixed guilds on the wrong streets, but its in a library, and L-space will do that to you sometimes. I think this is a great kit for someone who wants to personalize a book nook to reflect a fantasy world built around a narrow alley. I really like that the structure is so detailed and allows the ability to make it a unique finished product.

So much fun, but...
This was so much fun to work on! I loved the flexibility of having it look how I wanted. The pieces fit together well for the most part and the pictures in the instruction booklet were clear enough for me to figure out most of it. I also loved that they provided extra shapes for some of the easy to break pieces. The negatives: some of the signs were printed with misspellings. I printed off my own signs and glued them on top. The doors all float above the street when assembled. I ended up creating steps for the front doorways. There are no instructions for some of the provided pieces, like the mirror or the winged key. I ended up using the mirror as the "roof" and I never used the key. The instructions for the wiring was really difficult to follow. My husband (who knows how to do electrical work) did the lights for meand he was even confused by some of it. All of that being said, I would order this again in a heartbeat. I had so much fun working on it!

Decent project but lights are faulty
Edit: the seller contacted me quickly and is shipping replacement parts. The diorama is plain, but easily customizable to make it more dynamic. Mine came out rather good until I reached the last stage in assembly and discovered the lighting system was faulty. Things you might want to know before you start: It is going to take a lot of hours to complete. If you’re painting it, paint everything before you assemble it. The instructions have you put the window “glass” in after it is assembled, but that proved difficult and messy getting glue on the windows and in a few cases the pressure caused the bars on the windows to become dislodged. I would suggest installing it the glass each window before you attach them to the walls. The tiny pieces used as supports in the rounded windows break easily, but there are several extras if that happens. Unfortunately, they do not explain this in the instructions, so I have a few windows missing supports, and it was only after it was complete that I realized there were spares. The big issue is that the circuit board to control the lights is faulty. Looking through the review this seems to be an issue many buyers have had. I have submitted a message through amazon and will revise the review if I get a response. But as it stands, I cannot rate a defective product any higher than 1 star. I hope this helps anyone thinking of buying this kit.

When it doubt… go back to Amazon!
I had so much fun making my book nook! Directions were easy to follow and all parts fit perfectly. I will say the electronic part was a bit confusing because the directions didn’t exactly match what I got. So I went back to Amazon and the listing had a video in it from the company explaining the step I didn’t understand. Suddenly VIOLA! Lights can me on! Dimmer works. Remote works! I had almost given up but I’m glad I didn’t because it turned out AWESOME!!!

Excessive quality control issues made this a frustrating build.
Although the end result was fantastic, this is the most frustrating build I've ever completed -- and I usually work in 1:450th scale, so you know I deal with frustrating details regularly. The first issue was with the parts themselves, many pieces have misaligned windows, un-cut sections, and just generally poor quality cuts. Some of the boards were warped from the factory, which created some fit problems (as seen in my photo of the roof section). The instructions...ugh. These are similar to LEGO instructions with very little text, which is great, but the diagrams are often incorrect, missing placement locations, or drawn from an angle which doesn't actually show what they're trying to instruct you on. Case in point, the back wall has a small section of Gringotts facade which needs to be placed exactly to fit with the components already assembled on the left and right walls, they provide you with a placement line marked on the wood (great!) except the line is longer than the part (not great) so it gives you absolutely no clue how important it is to get it aligned properly (in this case, it has to be aligned to the right edge of the line). There are the parts which aren't included in the instructions but magically appear in later drawings. Best example of this are the wired lights on the right side panel, the same lights on the left are included in the instructions during assembly of that wall, but the lights for the right panel are not mentioned anywhere and the only way I knew they needed to be added was from a random drawing a few pages later showing them already installed. Of course I spent all sorts of time thumbing back through the book trying to figure out what I missed when it was actually the manufacturer missing some steps. Some components are numbered in the instructions but with no placement noted. MODIFICATIONS: 1. I painted the model using a combination of airbrush and hand work. 2. I added details to the windows and storefronts. 3. I filled in the weird too-tall cobblestone gaps on the street to create a more realistic look. 4. I drilled a hole for the charging light above the spots where the charging port and switch are located and glued the light in place. 5. The mirror and/or roof provided blocked too much light and made the back of the diorama basically disappear so I capped off the top walls for a more finished look and also created my own windowed roof from stamped steel and clear poly sheet.

Fantastic product....but it takes a long time to complete!
My grandson's birthday (his 11th) was fast approaching, and he asked if I could build him a book nook of Diagon Alley. I had not read the books, and didn't know what a book nook was, or Diagon Alley. I looked for a kit, and came across this great kit. Fortunately his birthday was about 2 months out, because it took me almost the entire time to finish this project! Granted, it was a few hours here and there, but I lost count of the hours. The kit was wonderfully crafted, each piece laser-cut into sheets of plywood. I only needed very little sanding with fine sandpaper to get the pieces ready for gluing and painting. I made a dumb mistake when testing the led lights. I used a 9-volt battery, and it blew out the streetlamp lights! I contacted the supplier, and said I'd be willing to pay whatever the amount for new lamps. They graciously said not to worry; they would ship out new ones at no cost to me. Talk about great customer service! The only downside I had with the kit, and it's a very small complaint, was that the street only used rectangular blocks of wood with a lot of space between them. I found some small pebbles and used them to make a cobblestone street. To give the book nook a little pop, I found on Etsy, for $10, a file that had many signs that you could print out in reduced sizes which you could then cut out and glue to the signs above the street. My grandson was ecstatic, and at night the book nook looks incredible! I would highly recommend the product, and the company that makes these great book nooks!

Amazing!
Great kit, highly recommend! It looks so great when it’s put together! I disagreed with some of the wiring diagrams, so adjusted the order I put it together, and the wires are so thin, I highly recommend soldering them together. It also doesn’t mention the picture frames until the end in the instructions, but they should go on before putting the whole pice together. Overall, good kit, worth the discounted price I spent!

These are a great kit to build. The instructions are almost perfect through the entire project
These are a great kit to build. The instructions are almost perfect through the entire project, which I find is rare for these types of kits. My wife and I used an x-acto blade to carefully cut the joining nubs when removing the pieces from the sheets. The remote is radio not infra-red, so the sensor position is no problem. The provided glue works well.

Excelente servicio

Nice Kit But Electrical Is Hard To Figure Out
Bought for Granddaughter for Christmas and had fun putting it together, we just finished it. The problem(as others have pointed out) seems to be the electrical system, the instructions on how to get this working a poor(almost nonexistent) . We got it together and the charging for the battery works, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the system to power up to turn on the lighting. I know the LED's work as I connected them to the battery directly and they light up that way. But there are no instructions for how to work the remote for the power.

Well made and allows for creativity
Got this for my wife who has gotten into these models. This is the first one that she has to come up with her own color scheme and paint, which has been a lot of fun for her. Trying different ways of getting the paint effects on the wood has been very enjoyable. As with most of these things, some of the instructions are a little vague so I would not say this is a beginner set by any means, but certainly a quality kit that will provide hours of enjoyment to build and should be a conversation piece when completed sitting on the book shelf.
