These are the most realistic candles available. I am a hospital chaplain I have had many people try and blow them out after a service. They are seriously expensive but every time I have bought a cheaper version, it totally looked fake. I am disappointed that they have changed the packaging. The new box is not robust. I have to take the candle from service to service as hospitals do not allow open flames. The old box was as good as an Apple box, very strong and totally encased it. When you pay this much money, you don't expect dime store packaging.

I've been using Luminara candles for a long time. They're safer than "real" candles with real fire. And they have a timer, which I like most of all. The candles that I prefer use D Batteries. They last a pretty long time with the timer function. As they get a couple years old, the timer often starts acting wonky. But you can still use them as on and off lights. Which I've found are great for night lights, or in bathrooms when you have guests trying to feel their way around in unfamiliar surroundings in the dark. When I have guests I usually put in fresh batteries and leave at least one candle lit for the whole weekend. The wax outside makes them look "real." Just make sure not to leave them outside in an area where they can melt or freeze.
