Seems to give accurate enough of a reading, used it to check tractor battery and alternator, showed battery to be low in charge and alternator not sending a charge which was the case so I installed a new alternator which solved the problem, it gives a good clear readout off the power it's receiving from the battery it doesn't need its own battery, all in all I'd say it's a good piece of kit, its well made fairly accurate and cheap, worh having to keep a check on your battery or alternator, it works on any 12volt system would recommend came on time well packaged and my fixer guy was impressed by it's ability too.

My motorhome has been standing idle over the last few months and I wanted an indication of the battery output and the alternator output. This gave me a very clear reading of the state of both items , was very easy to use and easy to read. I tried it using the cigarette lighter plug from inside the cab and also attached to the battery under the bonnet and both worked fine. Means I can easily carry out the checks with confidence out of the weather when I need to. Arrived on time, well packed and in good condition

The plug connector option is handy, but check whether your car only powers the sockets when the engine is running (in which case you will have to use the clips to measure the battery when not being charged). Build quality of unit appears to be good and simple to use with "traffic lights" indicators.

Something cheap and easy to check your 12/24 volt battery’s. I’ve just used it for a 12v battery but you can use it for 24. The crocodile clips are cheap and nasty but work. All in all for the money it’s ok but I don’t think it would be robust for a professional.

When I tried to use it the useless thing would not stay plugged into the cigar lighter socket - I had to hold it in. The fault alert light came on meaning the polarity was wrong. Like all cars sold in the last 40+ years, (in the developed world at least), my almost new Mini is negative earth, alternators only function with negative earth and dynamos went out with the dinosaurs. I checked first with a meter to confirm my diagnosis that this heap of junk was wired for positive earth and then I opened up the plug and sure enough you could clearly see the positive lead soldered to the earth connection - useless on anything but an ancient positive earth vehicle. The plug was so cheap and nasty ,(the reason why it wouldn't stay plugged in), I could have fixed it I would have had to get a new decent quality plug and wire it correctly - it simply wasn't worth the effort or the cost and neither was returning it for a refund - it went in the bin with the rest of the garbage.
