Rust-Oleum AMZ0012 Chalky Finish Furniture Paint - Antique White - 750ml

This is a really great paint; it has made decorating our kitchen a real pleasure. We have just had a new kitchen and during the installation, we requested a few additions from the fitter. These were MDF surrounds to the ovens and a panelled area for coats. The kitchen we ordered is a Pewter colour (light grey) and we wanted something to compliment the look, rather than it being the same. We chose Mid Anthracite. The paint has a consistency like that of an emulsion paint, which would explain the coverage. We used it on unpainted MDF, copper pipes, wood that had been painted with gloss paint and bare wood too. There was no sanding, or preparation but the coverage for all of them was excellent. There were a couple of small areas requiring an additional coat, but these tended to be the end of grain pieces of wood/MDF. I found that a small roller was better for the larger areas. Cleaning was easy for roller and brush, using water with a bit of washing soap. Drying time was relatively quick, touch dry in under an hour and the finish looks great. I would add, when painting with this, it needs blending in. If you leave splodges, they stay as splodges. If you are heavy with the paint, it will leave visible brush strokes. That said, all in all, it is a great paint, with excellent coverage on all surfaces.

Daughter wanted to change the colour of her bedroom furniture and this paint was great. She painted it herself (12 years old). Spread easily, lovely colour, great coverage. Overall a very lovely result which both she and I are impressed with. Colour is not bright but a lovely warm yellow

I highly recommend this paint as it was easy to put on and is a beautiful pale grey colour which can be seen in my photos. However once applied, the final varnish did make it slightly darker. The only negative i found was that the tin was not easy to open. Being completely new to painting furniture using chalk paint, I did some research first. Initially I used a no drag brush, but the brush marks were really evident, so I used a small paint roller instead - with much better results. I added a small amount of water to the roller tray and mixed it well. This was something I’d seen recommended to stop the paint drying too fast. This worked well. It was also suggested not to allow the paint to dry under the rim of the tin as when it dried, bits fell in the paint so I wiped it with kitchen roll each time to prevent this. Great results from using this paint and it’s nice and simple to use, with no necessary sanding before painting. A simple wash down is all that is needed and it can be applied to lots of surfaces.
