No focus knob means she uses it alone
This landed right when my daughter started asking why about everything, and it hit. There is no focus knob, you just push the whole scope down onto whatever is sitting on the tray, which means a five year old can use it alone without breaking it or getting frustrated. We have looked at a feather, a dead beetle off the patio, a piece of her own hair, and a scab, which she declared the best one. Magnification is low so do not expect anything scientific, and it needs decent room light because the thing underneath is just a mirror. Chunky build has survived several drops onto tile.

Fun microscope with real images for young kids!
My kids (ages 4.5 and 6) love this microscope! It is the perfect size for them and they love looking at at familiar and new things up close. It comes with a lot of different slides from flowers to fruits/vegetables to the human anatomy and so much more! Their favorite slide are the gemstones! The microscope is very durable and high quality and the eye piece and knobs are the perfect size for their little hands. I like that a storage drawer is attached so they can keep all of their slides in there when they aren’t using it. A fact book is included that has more information about each slide. Since my kids are still learning virtually, I’m so glad that they can learn about science using this cool microscope! Highly recommend for science fans and for all kids to do scientific exploration!

Too simple for a 6 year old
I wish I would have purchased this for my grandson when he was 3 or 4. We sat down to play with it and he was disappointed. I will find him a more advanced microscope. This would be great for younger kids.

Fun for science loving preschool kids
This is a good first scope for a preshool-early elementary age kid. My 5 year old loves it. I really like the book with facts about what is one each slide. I read the facts while she looks at the image. It doesn't really focus in and out like a real scope would but is enough to make her feel like she is really doing science.

Boring....
For toddlers, yes, but this is not for kids over 5 in my opinion. It feels and looks cheap. The pics on the slides are the same, whether you're holding them in your hand looking at them, or under the microscope. There is no magnifying going on. You're just looking at a boring image over a light. I'm returning it and buying my 6 yr old an actual microscope for kids/teens, because there's nothing to this one.

Gift
Purchased as a gift for a 6 year old that loves science and it was a hit! I was very pleased with the price and they’ve loved experimenting with it.

keeps their interest up
this was a Christmas present for my great grand daughter--she was very excited when she opened her package and saw it--she has been enjoying finding things to view under the scope and see what it looks like enlarged--

Pessimo
