Can you shorten the length of the chain? I need to lift a barrel at least 30 inches off the ground to get it into a drum overpack.

The length of the chain & the size of the grappling hook.These two aspects are adapted to each other in order to achieve the perfect balance when lifting the barrel. Once you change one of them, the whole system may be a safety risk. Works well on plastic drums.

I don't have water on my property (yet) and currently, I bring it in using a pair of plastic 55-gallon drums. I offload the drums from my truck using this and the pallet fork attachment on my tractor. The lifting bar fits one of the fork tines, unlike cheaper versions where I'd need a cable or strap to make it work. I had my doubts but it seems to grip a full barrel of water, combined weight 484 lbs., without any issues. I got mine on sale for $80 instead of the normal $100 and I'm quite pleased with it.

We have to put deer corn up high to avoid bears. This product works great on the barrel!

Will not fit drums with band ring for removable lids.

Easy to use

We do not have a ton of metal barrels but easy to snap on to the side of the barrel and pick up. We do have fork extensions that if it were not for the extensions we could use the large slot. But we’ll made and easy to use.
