An exciting new cooking adventure
As we were Sheltering-at-home for the Covid-19, we were looking for new, fun projects to occupy ourselves. Making our own cheese has been on our "We really should try this" list for a while, so I ordered this kit. Making our first batch of mozzarella was really exciting! Ricotta is quite easy and we are looking forward to advancing to Monterey Jack and cheddar. The kit has some of the essentials for starting cheese cultures, but read the description and especially the items shown as "people often buy these together" suggestions. You may have everything you need or you may need to acquire them. The cost of the kit is really high for the contents. The booklet is helpful and the youtube presentation is of value. It's helpful to have many of the things needed to get started on cheese making together in one package, but a little research would allow you to buy the ingredients yourself for less money. Combined with the equipment required and some of the right type of milk, this would be a really fun gift.

GREAT COMPANY
My first order got lost in the mail and the company replaced it. AWESOME kit. Has everything you need to make cheese, including instructions. IF you are expecting large amounts of ingredients, you will be disappointed because you use very little of everything. What they sent is more than enough to make your cheese. IF you want to go pro and make "dump-loads" then invest in the ingredients to make huge batches. What is in the kit is perfect for home use and enjoyment. SO ENJOY.

Great gift for beginners!
I purchased this kit so that I could get just the basic cultures and some liquid rennet. I was a little disappointed in the " curd bag" which was just a piece of cloth. And the thermometer is not very good quality. I had to purchase another one for my cheese making. On a positive note: the rennet and other cultures worked GREAT! Which was my purpose for buying this kit in the first place. I will restock my cultures as needed from this company. Very good products. And shipped quickly in a really nice box perfect for gift giving. Perfect for anyone beginning thier cheese making journey.

Easy, Fun, and Everything You Need! My "Best Christmas Gift of 2018"
I gifted this to my spouse as a stocking stuffer, then proceeded to purloin it for myself. Standing Stone Farms proprietor and master cheesemaker Paula Butler has managed to put everything you need -- and I mean "everything" -- into one small box. Plus, she has produced a companion video and recipe collection that is a must-have companion to this kit, especially if you are new to cheesemaking. Many people avoid cheesemaking as a hobby because it is shrouded in mystery and misconception. Paula shows you how easy it is to get started with some of your favorite soft cheeses, then holds your hands as you step into more challenging recipes, such as cheddar. With a little practice and attention to detail, the skills needed are well within the capabilities of the average home cook. Best of all, Paula eschews the idea of spending money on specialized equipment. She shows you how to do it all with common kitchen implements. It's cheesemaking the way it's been done for thousands of years, and it doesn't require hours in the kitchen and a biological laboratory full of cultures and special implements. Just your head, your hands, and your heart. Like I said, the companion video is a must. (Just search for this product and put "DVD" at the end, and it should come up.) My friends are already talking about getting "gift" cheeses when I'm really on the go with this thing. Who doesn't love cheese? As it turns out, Monty Python was right: Blessed are the cheesemakers! Amen.

Great little kit
I have read other reviews saying there isn’t much in the pack but you really only use the tiniest amount of the ingredients each use. - I have found it to be a great way to dive in to cheese making with just the right amount of ingredients and directions to get you going.

Most of Your Cheese Needs in One Place!
Bought as a gift for a mom and son duo of cooks and am looking forward to their reactions. One note of caution: I failed to notice that part of the kit includes non-vegetarian rennet, so am swaping that out. Otherwise, a wonderful set!

Fun date night project
My partner is into cooking, and I am into making homemade pizza. So we decided to try making our own fresh mozzarella cheese. We ordered this kit and it has everything needed except the milk, of course and the instructions were easy to follow. If you are using this kit, I will say several minutes go by when you think it’s not working, it’s not working, it’s not working, and then, like a magic trick, it instantly solidifies in the mozzarella cheese. And extremely tasty cheese at that.

Mostly good product but some of the recipes provided mght be off
I love everything that comes with the kit except for the thermometer (which does not come with a hook to hang on the side of a pot) and the recipe book which is not entirely accurate. I've only had time for making one recipe and I chose the mozzarella recipe. The instructions state that the recipe will make cheese from any cow milk even if it is pasteurized and homogenized. This is not true. Following the instructions provided with the equipment/ingredients provided in the kit did not create the desired (read specified) results. I'm not a novice cheese maker. This recipe did not work as claimed, curds did not melt easily (at the normal temperature) to be made into balls and once they did form balls they were hard and could not be used in dishes where you wanted them to melt.
