Convenient and organized
Great for the Canadian money, Sturdy, I gave a 4 star only because I do find it hard to open, The push button thing is hard to push and open at the same time. other than that, I am happy with it.

Works great as a cashbox for smaller events and buisnesses
I purchased this without reading the reviews as it had 4*s. I was really worried when I saw many of the top reviews were negative. Once I recieved mine today, I can see some of the issues (difficult to remove bills without opening the bill lever, the bill slots are only big enough for the first 15 or so paper bills to fit). I have to say, this design is the best I have seen so far with 4 bill slots with spring arms, 5 coin slots, and an extra large bill/check spot in the back. For those that feel this does not hold enough money, I congratulate you on your success, but your business may have graduated from the cash box phase, but for the rest of us, I have found a way to improve the capacity. With the help of a flat screwdriver and needle nose pliers I was able to bend the spring anchor points from sticking out horizontal with the bottom that were limiting the amount of bills that fit flat in the bottom of the box without having to bend up the front wall almost triple the original holding capacity (see picture) by bending them up vertically. The bill levers do hinder bill removal a bit, but for me they will mainly be a guard aginst wind and to hold things down while moving. In my experience as a cashier with a full sized cash register, slipping bills out from under the lever almost always just drags out 3-5 bills and messes up the cash drawer anyway, so that is no loss in my opinion. I will have to deduct a star as the button latch feels quite stiff and it seems like the steal of the box bends more than the button pushes in when opening the box. I could see needing to bend this back into shape being an issue which is a shame for a product from a company that calls itself Steelmaster. The bending also makes me think that carrying the box by the top handle without using the key lock (quite secure) and relying on the button latch alone may eventually result in dumping all your coins and checks nm the ground.

Casual use box
It's a decent cash box - not the fanciest on the block, not the heaviest, not the most secure - but it does well for low-impact or casual use. I wouldn't rely on it for regular commercial use, and it's probably overkill for your kid's lemonade stand, but for a little concession stand or something like that, it works pretty well. It's not heavy gauge steel but it's heavy enough to hold shape and resist bending. You can't run a truck over it, but you don't have to worry about it falling apart after casual use either. It has plenty of room for, again, casual use and can hold a fair amount of cash. It's really designed around paper currency, so applications where you deal with a lot of coins will leave you a bit frustrated with this box.My main issue with the box is the latching mechanism. It requires a somewhat heavy push to unlatch, and it's not really a switch or anything. It basically relies on creating just enough clearance to unhook from the lid, but there isn't a hinge or anything on the latch. It just kind of bends out of the way. Very odd. Fortunately the lock is independent of this latch and does secure the box shut.Other than that, the box works pretty well. It's a good size for parents to run a bake sale or something along those lines. As a casual use box, this is a good choice.

Great as a cash organizer. Don't count on much security though.
The pictures seem to do justice for this item...it's exactly how it looks. There are no pull-out trays or any surprises. Just a cantilever tray and then a stow tray in the back. Bill holders don't hold quite as much cash as i'd hoped without hitting the springs but they still will work and keep very strong tension on the items. If I were being picky, i'd say that the button you push to open the box can be a little hard to push in with just one hand since the box is slippery and you really have to brace the back of it to open it. Still, it works fine...just requires 2 hands to open. All around a good choice if you simply need a box to organize and hold your cash. I wouldn't count on much security from it, as a "light-duty cash box" seems to be an understatement. While it does have a lock, the metal the case is made of could probably be bent with your bare hands, let alone any tools from a determined person (maybe even child?). We use it as a cash box inside a gun safe that simply organizes our cash and for that it works absolutely perfect for us. However, as I mentioned, I would NOT bank on this for any security purposes but simply more as something to hold cash, not protect it.

Worked great, and fit everything I needed!
Very good quality cash box. The only thing that annoyed me a bit was that the bill slots were just a touch short - this may be to make it easier to swipe the bills out from the top of the stack though. There is a good amount of room in the back section behind the bills - I was able to fit a stack of 25 1's, and two rolls each of Q's, D's, N's & 4 rolls of pennies, as well as my portable battery charger for my phone (a stick kind which is about the same diameter as a roll of quarters. It stuck up a bit, but there was plenty of room even after the cantilever folds down when closing the box. There was also room for me to throw my phone in the box on top of the bill slots - as long as I kept it to the front of the box the cantilever portion didn't come down on top of the phone at all. The key lock worked very well - no sticking. The button you need to push in the front is kind of hard to push in and there is no spring in the top of the box - it's not a bad thing because it makes it very secure even when not locked. You just have to get used to pulling up on the handle at the same time as you press in the button to get it open.
