GINTOOYUN SD SDHC SDXC MMC to 3.5" 40Pin Male IDE Adapter Card SD Memory Card to IDE Hard Disk Drive Adapter

I'm a musician who used an Atari ST computer in the late 80s/early 90s for MIDI music. I also used an Akai sampler. There is old software available that lets me extract this data to PC, but it's not Windows 11 compatible. This adapter made it happen. At first, I thought it wasn't working, but it just didn't like the SDHC card I was using initially. I switched to a different brand SDHC card and it works perfectly. Now I have two SDHC cards, one with Windows 98, the other with Windows XP, on an old Pentium III PC. I was able to backup my Atari ST and Akai data, then migrate that data to my current music computer. This adapter was plug and play, and well worth the money.

Worked perfectly to backup files from an old Windows 95 machine that didn't have OSR2 installed and likely wouldn't support USB drives anyways. Only wonkiness was remembering how to setup partitions in DOS with fdisk, but once I figured that out everything worked super smoothly. A USB to IDE adapter probably would have been easier to use overall, but this was $14 and did the job.

I bought this as a way to transfer files between PC and the Commodore Amiga 2000, and it did the job quite well with a 4GB SD card. The card doesn't seem to use FAT32 like SCSI2SD solutions for the Amiga family, but rather formats in the card in AmigaDOS which Windows sees as RAW format. However, you can add/remove/copy files to/from it with WinUAE on a PC, even though Windows doesn't recognize the SD card format. I am running Kickstart 2.05 and Workbench 2.1 on the A2000. I highly recommend this card, especially for the price! SD access times are very fast!!! A+++

Not what I needed but worked great for other projects

When I first got this adapter it wouldn't work in any machine I tried, from an old Socket 7 motherboard to a new PCIe PATA adapter. Then I saw that a couple the solder joints on the 40-pin connector didn't look very good, like there was not a solder to form a good connection. I resoldered those pins and just for good measure touched up the joints on all the other pins. After that , the device seems to work without a problem! This is a great little device that was let down by poor quality control, regardless of the big "QC/PASSED" sticker.

Works great with old PC configurations. Obviously SD cards are not geared for using in high write IO environments (paging/swap space). If you don't have much RAM/memory and/or can not turn paging/swapping off.... YMWV

This is a handy device for when you need an IDE disk on an old computer. I'm booting MS-DOS from a SD card on my Pentium-III system and this adapter is working perfectly. Recommended!

The smallest SD I had sitting around was 16GB, and Windows 95 OSR2 can only address 2GB per partition, with a max of 4 partitions per disk. I had no problem creating 4x 2GB partitions theough this adapter. This means a few things - this adapter is fine with low-level disk calls, so anything you might want to do with the "spoofed" disk will just work, no need to prepare partitions, filesystems, etc before installing the card. BE AWARE though, if you do this the filesystem will NOT be available to other OSes unless you install the whole adapter. Runs at the full speed available to the chipset, which is 15MB/s. It sits around 12.5, which means it is just about perfect for 100Mbit ethernet. At the end of the day, my project was just for grins to see if I could get it working, but if you need to get an OLD system working for an important reason, this thing would be a life saver. **In case you are wondering**** While modern hard drives are still compatible with PI/O on paper, I have not found one that works correctly in this system once everything is installed. They try, but random errors start popping up within hours and the partitions corrupt within days. Been running on the adapter for 2~ weeks now withh no problems

Works great. Was able to install WIN XP Pro on this. The old computer recognised this as a regular IDE HD.

It really works! I'm quite impressed with it so far. It recognizes my 32GB SDHC cards fine, and I've been able to successfully boot and run Windows NT just like the original hard drive. No complaints at all.

Work perfectly in my Old Pentium 1

...sometimes. worked in the PC i needed it for when that showed up, but not in the pc i used to test it initially. Picky, but functional.

I needed this product to bring an old Megatouch bar entertainment system back to life after the old IDE hard drive died. Even though the motherboard was technically a 486 it was still able to recognize this device as a hard drive. (Using 16GB FAT32 formatted SD card). Next I will replace my original XBOX hard drive and Playstation 2 hard drive with this device!
