These are sturdy aluminum tent stakes; similar to ones I have owned and want to replace. The 3 flange design makes them difficult to tip over/pull out by accident. This allows them to be a little bit shorter than other ones, at 7". Yet, the design makes it easy to pull them out when I pull straight out on them. The cord is reflective at night. The orange color is bright and easier to see. They fit inside their storage bag fine, with enough room to fit the guy lines and tensioners I like to use. This flange design is better than a single spike, and I recommend them.

They came in a cute little bag, in a fancy little slim package. I did some research and was interested in the MSR Groundhog stakes but then came across these. They are very light and sturdy - just don't slam a 20-pound rock at 40 miles per hour against them trying to jam them into the hard pressed dirt and rock, because they will break, obviously... They're very lightweight and a nice pretty color too (red). I like that they come with a fluorescent string attached. It definitely helps you see them at night when the light hits them and when you're trying to pull them out from the ground. If you're going to use these on grass or medium padded dirt, these will work great and are a far better value alternative to the MSR stakes, therefore, saving you money. MSR stakes are 6 for $16 (price varies from $16-20). These are 12 for $8. Relative value means that you're paying 1/4 the price for one of these, compared to an MSR stake, and you're basically getting the same use/ability (of the stake). I'm happy I found this and cut costs. My thoughts and criteria for products I review: (Amazon’s Rating Criteria in Parentheses) * 1 Star (I hate it!): Feel it's a waste of money. Will never use it again. Would never recommend. Not safe to use. Either throw away or return it. ** 2 Stars (I don’t like it): Don't like it and wouldn't use it again, but may still have at least 1 positive thing about it. *** 3 Stars (It’s ok): Product has both positives and negatives, and I may or may not continue using it. Someone else may like it more and is potentially still worth purchasing. **** 4 Stars (I like it): Item as described in functionality, purpose, and quality. May have 1 or 2 things I don't care for or would change, but not big issues. Would recommend if asked, but wouldn't say I love it. ***** 5 Stars (I love it!): Practically perfect. Nothing lacking in functionality or quality. Love it and would not only recommend, but would purchase for others and continue to purchase for myself.

They are light weight and hold well in packed moist ground. I did not have to fiddle with the angle, and the wind on our tent fly did not dislodge the guy line stakes. They were easy to pull up by the ties, and the reflective markers were surprisingly effective. They do warp fairly easily. I managed to bend three stakes my first night. However, even bent they still held solidly and were re-useable the next night. No stake is both lightweight and bend-proof, so it makes more sense for me to buy these inexpensive stakes and just plan on replacing them once in a while.

A good value in a 12 pack of stakes with a decent carry bag. These 8 sided stakes hold well and are light and durable. I would buy again and would recommend.

Bought these quite a while ago and im here again to buy more. Figured I'd leave a review bc I see that several people claim that they bend and break. They are aluminum. They are not thick. I beat mine into the ground with a hatchet/hammer combo (one of the most useful camp tools I've ever owned. Iykyk). And ofc I've broken these in the past which is why I need more. But that's not the products fault. If you understand aluminum you'll understand that uncentered hits and impacts will bend it. But if you take proper care of these, they will do you a lot of good. Assuming proper use - These stakes hold in the ground better than any I've ever used. I always place them at a right angle to the force pulling on them and wow, they create an excellent hold. They also allow you to hammer them in flush with the ground, so you won't injure yourself tripping or stepping on them, which if you camp enough, you know is a huge risk. The little cord loop they come with is fine for a while, but I've replaced all of mine with aluminum aircraft cable loops I've made for cheap at home depot. That removes all negative aspects of these stakes for me. Some how, when placed in packed earth, these stakes hold well so even if you're pulling them straight out from how you placed them, they really don't want to come out. Which is where I usually break the original cord. All in all, these stakes fulfill all my needs and I even trust them to hold my tarp when I use it as a wind break on the side of a mountain. The way I tie guy lines allows me to tension my lines to a ridiculous amount, and I worry about ripping my gear before I worry about these stakes lossing their hold. Buy these, and buy a way to hammer them into the ground. You won't regret it

Don't ask me why tents come with crummy stakes and not enough of them to completely stake down the rain fly, but alas they do. These take care of that. They're stout (don't bend) and plenty light. The little pull tabs allow you to pull the stakes without stressing the tent. And, blessedly, the little pull tabs are reflective, which helps means you are less likely to stub your toe on them in the middle of the night. I've been using one bag of these for backpacking about 5 years now and recently bought another, because I bought a larger tent. Very pleased with both batches. They seem small for use with a big car camping tent, but I've done that without issue, too.

These stakes are made from 7075 aluminum (7XXX series), while billet aluminum is often 6061 or 6063 (6XXX series). Billet can be welded, which 7075 basically can't. However, both the structural strength (pounding the stake into the ground), as well as the shear strength (bending or breaking the stake) are BOTH higher in 7075 aluminum! (Check it for yourself. (Try searching "The differences between billet and 7075 aluminum".) Another point about their strength is their design: a "Y" shape creates 2 support structures, for the sideways stress that occurs when the stake is pulled horizontally ("shear" strength, as in high wind situations) - it's like leaning on 2 poles, then trying to push both of them into the ground at the same time (each "absorbs" 1/2 the force, making it twice as hard to do as pushing just 1 pole into the ground). Conclusion - light weight (as aluminum often is), with high strength (strong as STEEL!), and a good design. Each one even has a short lanyard attached (easier to pull up)! Plus they're very inexpensive (check the cost of good tent stakes at REI, for instance), which means they're a good VALUE ("bang for the buck").

These are good if you need a bunch to burn through or for light camping. Any light hammering with a stone will bend them. Anything harder to stake down might break them.

These seem to be great tent pegs (used once). They are very lightweight and are a perfect length for my 2 person tent. I used a regular metal hammer to set the pegs with no bending or other untoward effects. The red color and string helped make the pegs noticeable while set. Very satisfied.

We have used these on a campsite with hard, dry Alberta ground. It worked well (only one bent a bit).
