Our dog was pawing at her mouth. I had taken her to the vet during last summer for a ear yeast issue and they mentioned the tarter build-up. I started giving her dental powder, and then I started using the rubber fingertip things (thinking comfort), for brushing her teeth, but I didn't feel they were effective enough. I have bamboo in the back yard (a lot of it), so I tend to gravitate towards products made with it. The brush is long and sturdy and the small end is nice for front teeth, but also likely best for smaller pups. I feel it will do a much better job then the rubber and time will tell. I have to keep up on it which is the hardest part, but I know how important dental health is for dogs. Our dog doesn't try and bite the brush or handle, so I hope they last a long time. ***NOTE...I highly recommend soaking the bristles in hot or warm water prior to brushing to soften the bristles. They are quite stiff otherwise depending on your dogs sensitivity and especially compared to he rubber fingertip brush. I assume they will soften with use like any other toothbrush type item.
