Uni Kurutoga Advance Upgrade Model Mechanical Pencil 0.5mm, Metal Barrel (M510301P.43), Black

I'm a long-time user of Kurutoga pencils for surveying drawings. The progressive rotation of the lead means you can just get on with drawing without distraction. And this Advance model seems like a genuine advance. The grip is about right for comfort and level-of-grip. The grip is not abrasive, but the tiny holes prevent slipping (and my hands do slip on metal or shiny barrels). I also like the retraction of the tip when the pencil is stowed - a good damage-prevention feature. All in all, this is right up there with the best mechanical pencils available and at the point where if you like something else it's probably down to preference rather than performance. For me, the styling is a plus point too. It looks discreet, functional, modern, and purposeful.

Such good quality! I got rid of every other pencil I had. Saves space, and does the job. The materials are really good and I suspect it’ll last a looong time

Brilliant. At first it feels light, is it plastic you ask. The black nib bit unscrews,it hold the metal holed sleeve in place. The code is plastic. The black button end seems to be metal, and slots in with a reassuring click. It hides an eraser, holding in the spare leads, only one supplied😢, but buy your own. Also note the eraser is narrower than other ones I've met so I use a separate eraser to ensure I still have a lead retaining bung. Price it is a bit dearer than some (mostly plastic ) offerings, but not extremely OTT like rot..... can be.

The kurutoga is the best mechanical pencil I’ve ever owned. I now have 2 and have just bought another for a friend of mine who shares my weird liking for awesome stationary. No flat spot on the lead due to the clever camming system and the lead tube retracts into the body when not in use so it doesn’t stick you when it’s in your pocket. Fantastic design.

This is a high-quality pencil that's probably good for technical drawings or writing. However, it's too heavy for me to use for art. Additionally, the grip is subpar. The graphite is high quality. I'm not sure what number it is, but it feels like a good quality 2B.

Reallly nice pencil, it enables a smooth writing experience, and because the lead rotates writing is consistant. The build quality is what you expect with an Uni pencil, it feels well built and will last. The pencil has fast become my goto mechanical pencil, in part because the body is a little wider than most other mechanical pencils and with bigger hands it sits just right. This pencil does not come with many extra leads so be sure to pick up a set of refils. The pentel ain 0.5 B's work brilliantly with this pencil.

The kuru toga W engine works flawlessly( better than normal kuru toga engine), the weight balance is towards the tip so you don't require more force to write and it is stable, the metal body and the retractable with okayish eraser tip makes this pencil my go to pencil, I write everyday with it and have about more than 1 year of experience, I love the pencil but there are some negatives too, the metal grip is good but I would like a more squishy grip like in the kuru toga alpha-gel but that doesn't have the w-engine which is a game changer. Talking about the engine, the vertical tip wobble is more and horizontal is less( reason: w-engine uses bigger gears), but these things hardly matter to me as it is a joy to write with it. Highly recommend for daily writing and can last years if taken care of.

シュッとしていて重心も使いやすく書き心地も少し硬めな印象ですが使用頻度は高いシャーペンになりました。ただししっかり作られているためか少し重量？密度があり、固い床に落下させると高確率で芯が折れます。でもペン自体が壊れることはなさそうです。

Came in original packaging too 👍 The bottom of the pencil is all made from metal and only the top is made of plastic. The weight distribution of the pencil is all close to the tip which makes for a very comfortable writing expetience. Didnt realise how much i love and needed the line consistency from the kuru toga as i tried switching back to my old fure fure corone and immediately hated the big fat line and having to manually turn the pencil to get a sharp thin line only to be back to the fat ugly line in just a few seconds. All these problem are solved here with this pencil and the metal premium feel of the pencil is also what i didnt know i needed too 😂 Writing with a plastic pencil and a metal pencil makes ALOT of difference.

Writes nicely, looks great and protects the lead well. So worth the money. Good durability as well.
