For years, I've been using 'one-gallon' pots as a at-home-nursery. Stem-cuttings, seeds, and transplants, it is the perfect size. The key is obtaining a 1-gallon, twist-tie, food storage bag from the grocery store (Kroger sells a box of 75 that are the perfect size) to contain humidity. The inverted bag is placed over the rim of the pot, as you'll need it here in the high-altitude Desert Southwest, especially with plants that have not developed roots. I'm able to propagate most culinary herbs from stem cuttings, and with rooting hormone, I can propagate perennials and shrubs. Seeds are protected from the hail with the clear bag. A small drainage hole keeps the rain draining into the pot, instead of making a huge puddle . They dry-out really slow, which is the advantage of not sowing seeds directly in the garden, where watering everyday is critical. Shade cloth can be draped over the rows of pots, and filtered light from a shade tree keeps things from cooking in the July sun. My at-home-nursery works because of these simple pots, some clear bags, and regular potting soil.

plant pots are a little thin but so far have not cracked or anything. I think for how many you get for the price it is well worth the money for starting plants.

Just what I needed

These HECTOLIFE 1-gallon nursery pots are exactly what every home gardener needs in bulk. I wasn’t expecting much for the price, but I was genuinely impressed by the quality and flexibility of the plastic. They're soft enough to make transplanting easy, but sturdy enough to hold soil and water without warping or tearing. I’ve used them for succulents, tomato seedlings, and even some small fruit tree cuttings—and so far, they’re holding up great in both indoor and outdoor conditions. The drainage holes are well-placed, so I don’t have to worry about root rot or water pooling. Honestly, 50 pots in one pack is a steal at this quality. I’ve already used half of them, and I’m definitely buying more for the next planting season. Perfect for seed starters, hobbyists, or serious backyard growers—this is a garden must-have. Highly recommend!

I am disappointed that it becomes more narrow toward the bottom. I don't need things that tip over more easily. Also, the pattern on it tends to look cheap. They're functional if you're you know planting a bunch of starts and doing all that. But you're not gonna be doing any crafts with these 😂

I do not think I need to really write a view on this, everyone knows what plants would be going in them!

Super pot

These have a strong smell and I'm concerned about using them for vegetable plants (seedlings I need in bigger pots before I can transplant them outside). So, I'm concerned they aren't food safe, so I may need to try to find and buy a different type that is food grade.
