The people that designed this really thought about how to make this simple. It does exactly what I need. Set the time and date. Set what time(s) you want it to turn on. Set what days you want it to turn on. Set how long it should run for. Turn it on auto and you are done. The only other button is a manual override on/off which helps me test the system and see what parts need replacing without affecting the schedule. It takes AAs that last at least a season so cheap to operate. I now run 4 of these to cover different areas. Only issue is 2 in a riw showed up with cracked LCD screens probably due to some errant package tossing en route. Just look them over when they arrive. Once they are mine they are solid.

This is the best hose timer in the galaxy! We bought it to help us with some major lawn rehab and maintenance going forward. I have been frustrated with every mechanical timer I've tried so far because they restrict water flow so much, but this battery powered unit still allows 5 gpm + flow thru my 5/8 x 100' long hose which is great because it means I can run a high output impact sprinkler in my front yard and water the entire lawn, without concern of forgetting to shut off the sprinkler. Great for those of us who are busy and/or easily distracted (I see a lot of squirrels).... The user interface is PERFECT. The large dial on the left allows you to toggle quickly and easily thru all the settings, and the buttons are easy to push. The display screen is easy to read so no squinting/scratching your head or second guessing about what it is your doing. You can set this puppy to water everyday, every other, or whatever, and once or twice per day depending on what you're trying to do. For newly planted grass, the twice a day is perfect. Once my new grass is established I'll be able to use this thing for "deep watering" during dry spells because the timer can be set for some really long run times, and I can set it to go off at 4 or 5 AM if I want to. My timer is getting dripped on a bit from the old spicket it's attached to, and so far it really doesn't seem to care. Maybe after a year or so it might die on me, but at around $35 I would probably just buy a new one and not be too upset about it. This is a product I can recommend to others with no reservations at all - this thing is a great buy for anyone with a need to irrigate their lawn or garden.

This is the third Rain Bird timer I have purchased. They function as designed and are easy to use. Solid quality. Good value.

This purchase was my second. The first worked fine for probably 5 years to water my garden several days per week. Worked far better than me remembering to turn the water back off. But then -- The design is meant to fail safe. If the battery dies or whatever, the timer fails to turn on. Awesome idea. Mine however failed ON! The rubber diaphragm had a groove worn in it from the plastic seat which had a couple burrs on it, and it stuck open with the water running. I got so lucky though because I parked my car on the hose - so unlikely - and my neighbor noticed it slightly on at the wrong time of day and let me know. Given the years of good service, and hopefully unlikely to repeat, I bought the second unit.

I first bought this sprinkler timer about 9 years ago at HD on sale because it was an opened package. It performed reliably and the batteries would last several years. Eventually, it became unreliable with watering only intermittently. So, it was time to purchase another one. This sprinkler is so easy to operate that reading the instructions is unnecessary! You set the date and time, then what days you want to water, when and for how long and that's it. You can easily turn it off and change the settings at any time. When set on "auto", you can also do a "water now" for as short or long a time as you want. This new timer has performed flawlessly and I expect that it will operate for many years to come. The only thing you will need to occasionally replace is the hose gasket.

Easy to installed and good value for your money; this is the second one I get. Easy to program.

I purchased this rain bird single station controller to water my 300 sq-ft lawn 2x / week. I noticed after a few weeks use that the water at the sprinkler head was leaking. I manually cycled the timer and put in fresh batteries. The solenoid failed completely and no water passes through the valve. The controller was very warm to the touch indicating solenoid fail.
