FCKIT-1PK Drip Irrigation Faucet Connection Kit, 1/2" Tubing

The parts list for even a modest backyard drip irrigation system can be quite long, and it all starts at the faucet. You need a way to connect your 1/2-inch plastic line to a faucet, a filter to keep any debris out of the little drip openings, a pressure regulator that keeps the water pressure low enough and a back-flow preventer so that any ca ca in the garden won't be somehow sucked back up the pipes, out your faucet and into your mother-in-law's seventh bourbon and water. All this can be costly and then you have to figure out how to assemble it, and you know that connecting a bunch of plumbing fixtures together can result in you getting a bag of expensive brass bushings, pipes, adapters, etc. Or, get this fine little unit. Cheap, all-in-one and just fine for a modest back-yard system. You can easily add a timer to it so long as it has faucet/hose connections as most of the small in-line battery operated timers do. This makes for a good, affordable and legal system (there are codes requiring back-flow devices). The bottom part connects that 1/2 plastic hose in a simple and non-leaking manner. This is how I hooked up my little system: first, I got a 90-degree angle faucet so that it points straight down. I found a drain faucet that did the trick. I just wanted the unit to be straight up and down, not sticking out at an angle as it does on a standard faucet. I think it looks better and people won't trip over it. It also makes the timer sit nice and level, neat and professional-looking. The last advantage is that the plastic hose goes straight down into the ground, into the ditch you dug for it. When it is covered with dirt, this helps stabilize the kit. After all, it is plastic and while it seems sturdy enough, support at the bottom will help it survive an impact. The last tip is to put a two-or three-way tee connector between the faucet and the kit. This allows you to simultaneously use a hose, and you know you will still need one for miscellaneous watering. The kit, a tee and a timer adds up, so your faucet either has to be fairly high or the bottom part of the kit will have to be buried in the ditch. This won't hurt anything and might make it even more stable, so don't worry. This kit is great for the average yard, is simple and economical and works well. I can recommend it.

Rain bird products are easy to use and reliable. I needed this replacement faucet because my last one was left out over the winter and fused with my hose. Happy with the purchase!

Great value and works great without any leaks

I bought the rainbird drip irrigation kit that came with this and set it up in my backyard. It worked great and I had no issues, so I bought another faucet connector kit to set up a drip system in my front yard. I only bought the faucet pieces because I had lots of left over tubing from the original kit. When I connected it and ran it, I had issues with too low water pressure, and discovered the backflow preventer was faulty. It only let a trickle of water out. I then purchased a generic (not rainbird) backflow preventer from Home Depot and it solved that problem. Unfortunately, once that was fixed, the pressure regulator began leaking, and I don’t mean leaking from where it connects to the backflow preventer. If that was the case, I could have fixed it with pipe thread tape. Tiny streams of water were shooting out from the middle of the piece itself. I ran the system for awhile to see what would happen, and the tubing eventually popped off the end of the pressure regulator because pressure was too high. I don’t know if I just happened to get a kit with bad parts, or if they were damaged somehow in the shipping process, but now I’ve got to go sink more money into new pieces.

Setting up a drip irrigation is not small job.Requires heaps of parts and patience. Get it finished to find that some of the parts leak. But got it going for now.

Rain Bird quality all in one package. Used to take regular water pressure from a water hose bib and reduce pressure for drip irrigation system. Cheaper than buying all the parts separately. Filter strainer, back flow preventer and washers all included. Super easy to install. perfectly fit standard hose bib and drip irrigation tubing

Bought 3! Cannot complain except to wish they were cheaper.

This worked perfectly for me. I noticed some other reviewers had trouble fitting it onto the tubing, but if you heat the tubing with a hair dryer, a lighter, etc., it will soften the tubing and make it easier to work with. Make sure all pieces are screwed together tightly.

Works as advertised

Was easy to assemble and works well. It took a bit to figure out the hose end connection because the picture has the hose lock nut upside down to the actual lock nut on the kit I received. Maybe it is just an old picture. Anyway, once I realised the problem it was easy.

Good for me

I ordered a RainBird drip irrigation system, part by part, to water my vegetable garden (with large raised beds). One of the challenges we face is that we move the vegetables from bed to bed each year, and so it used to take a lot of time to adjust and rebuild our old system as the plants changed places. With my new RainBird system I was able to set up a single long 1/4" drip tubing (with 6" hole spacing) for each bed so that it can be laid out quickly around all the plants, the closer the spacing the more water etc.. The backbone of the system is a 1/2" main line where I used a bunch of T's and L's to smoothly run the main pipe under the soil, popping up a branch over the edge of each raised bed. I used 1/4" barbed coupling fittings (get the purple RainBird tool for these!) to connect the 1/4" drip tubing to the 1/2" main line branches. Almost all connections went together really well, the only challenge I had was with the Faucet Connector where it attaches to the 1/2" tubing. The tubing fits over the connector, but the threaded sleeve that screws over top to create a solid and clean connection would not screw up. The threads are plastic, and they just won't grab. So far the system does not leak, but we have to be really careful. I would give 5 stars if I could get the connector to thread properly.
