Generic Universal Tv Ir Remote Control Decoder Tester Infrared Remote Control Testing

This product has many similar variants and one of these actually has documentation that I captured and posted. No product will decode everything so that is an unfair and unrealistic expectation to have. I was able to use the product's automatic mode to decode 9 of 11 IR remotes in my home. I bought this product myself and no one offered any incentives for me to write this review.

The fact that I am able to test remotes I buy on eBay is great. It allows for quick testing which when I buy 75 remotes is a great time saver. This really allows me to test the product and see if I have a working remote or one that is broken and be sold for parts. Truly a worth wild investment.

While it does what it is supposed to do, it does not recognise or decode all systems. For most my remotes it has worked well and has decoded them letting me know some of the reasons that the keys do not do what they should. The ones for my cable box is not recognised (it shows receiving signal) but can't identify or decode. That was the one I needed if for but it let me down. For the TV and blu ray remotes it worked like it should showing me why my new universal only partially worked. I still would have bought it because it can be helpful but I wish I knew beforehand that it does not work with all remotes. Even with its limitations on what it can decode it is still a useful tool if you deal with lots of remotes for people.

The unit that I received was DOA. I know the remote control I was testing proved good against another remote tester and the codes displayed matched on both remotes. I wanted to see how this one compared but it didn't indicate anything no matter what mode it was in. I don't know if I received somebody else's return but it wouldn't surprise me. BUYER BEWARE.

t make it easy to sort out your remotes. find out if you have a dead battery or dead remote. It good for universal remote to see if it program correctly.

The unit I received did not respond to ANY IR signal. None of the remotes used were recognized by this device, even those that were know to be working correctly. Note that when I say the remotes were not recognized, I don't mean incorrect values were shown, I mean there was NO response. I even tried to get the device to respond by testing with a known IR device. Again, no response.
