* Please note that the topics of training and breeding are not covered in this book. * Grey parrots belong to the family of the so-called 'true parrots', which have the scientific name 'Psittacidae'. However, the family of cockatoos ('Cacatuidae'), which also belongs to the parrot order, is to be distinguished from this. Grey parrots are considered to be extremely linguistically gifted and intelligent. As a result, they have become extremely popular pets, enhancing and enriching the lives of adults and children alike. Although they are only living in the wild in Africa, grey parrots can be found as pets in many different countries and on all continents. Unfortunately, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) needed to classify grey parrots as an endangered species since 2016. However, grey parrots have been specially protected since 1981, as they fall under the so-called CITES (Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). Six years later, special protection for grey parrots was also declared in European law. So, how can you provide a nice home for grey parrots and what do you have to consider? These are the questions we want to get to the bottom of in this guidebook! * Please note that the topics of training and breeding are not covered in this book. * 1. Introduction 2. Best book on greys so far
My parents are getting a bit isolated because of the pandemic so I decided that I want to getthem some companions. We discussed it and think that two congo parrots might reallyenrich their lives so I gave them several books as a gift. They liked this one best and I alsothink it was really interesting. Let’s do this!
