This was a lot better than anticipated. My daughter did not want a chocolate advent calendar and we have had make up and Jewellery advent calendars in the past. As she has just come out of hospital and is not back to school this is fun and will give her a different craft to do each day. I was worried it would be too young for a 15 year old but it is really good and day one she is really looking forward to doing the 1st craft project.

Bought fir 8 year old who has had Lego calendar’s last few years and was feeling like I was buying the same every year. She enjoys crafting so I took a punt on this. Omg, she loves it. Some are tricky and need adult help especially with the hot glue gun but genuinely we have loved opening every door and we will keep the decorations and use each year. She’s also been inspired to do more crafting using the ideas from this. Lovely advent calendar!!! Buy off your child enjoys crafting

The description for this says 'Includes all necessary components aside from common household materials like scissors, ruler, etc.' but this is extremely misleading, as a decent amount of the projects in the calendar needed hot glue. My little girl eventually just got fed up of opening days and seeing that there were things that she didn't have and so therefore couldn't complete them. On top of that, for nearly £30, this definitely wasn't worth the money in my opinion. I won't be getting anything from The Purple Cow next Christmas, that's for sure.

It is worth pointing out that there is a note inside the main box letting you know the additional items required for these crafts. Do read it before the 1st December! Although it says a hot glue gun, I had no intention of purchasing one of these and we have found a standard tube of UHU type clear glue is perfectly adequate. We had all the other items already. As other reviewers have said, the instruction book does show the items for each day, but you can choose not to look ahead as each craft finishes on a double page and it is more fun to have a surprise! My daughter just turned 8 and has managed to do many of these by herself. We didn't do the melting plastic beads - she actually decided to make something else with the beads. We have found this a brilliant afterschool activity and I am very likely to get her another one next year. I think it is fantastic!

I don't usually go out of my way to write bad reviews but I felt I had to with this. The craft sets are generally terrible, cheap materials and bad instructions. A few sets work OK but plenty don't and some even adults have trouble making them work. I'm being honest when I say I would not even pay £5 for this, nevermind the £30 I paid. Avoid.

Bought this for my 10 year old, wasn't sure if he'd be too old for it. He's absolutely loved it. Amazing quality and value for money.

This is great. Cool crafts, nice materials. Day one creates a star ornament and everything you need is provided, you just add a baking sheet, liner paper or foil and your oven. It looks great and the crafts are nice, not too hard, not too boring. My daughter (11) and son (10) love it! Really pleased. Update: day 7 and my 6th grader still loves it. My 5th grader finds the craft instructions really hard to follow, lots (4/6) have not gone quite right for him and he’s pivoted to his own inventing, which is fine, but means the company might want to improve the instructions: he builds Lego Technik 14+ on his own!

On a juste ouvert les 2 premiers jours. Et c'est déjà waow !! Très apprécié par ma fille de 5 ans. Seul hic, les décorations ne sont pas une surprise. Toutes les instructions sont dans un même manuel. Donc on peut anticiper la deco du jour suivant. Chaque instrustion aurait pu être mise dans chaque boîte. Mais la fabrication demeure amusante

High quality calendar with a good selection of things to make, great for crafty kids!

It is a very neat calander with cool crafts but some are on the difficult side and require extra things they don't always give you. There are a few that require sewing, although they do give you to tools to do that. Overall its great, just more targeted for older kids.

I got one as a gift for my niece and one for my son. They are both loving them. The crafts are really cool so far. The instructions are easy to follow. We have a newborn and I wanted to make sure to spend quality time every day with just my 5 year old son leading up to Christmas. This fit the bill perfectly. Something fun and easy. He is also excited about having cool presents for to give to our extended family for Christmas that he made. He is so proud of himself.
