10/10 would buy again
This vacuum was my one and only prime day splurge last year and I have not regretted it even once. I researched different stick vacs and decided this model seemed like the best value for what I needed (vs. dyson and other brands). Overall summary: extremely easy to use, charge, and clean the vacuum itself. Very effective and functional, would absolutely buy again even if it died tomorrow after only one year of owning but it seems to be working about 98% as well as it was right out of the box. I specifically waited a year to write this because many reviews I read when comparing cordless vacuums prior to purchase mentioned problems after about 6 months of use. I've had none. The rest of the review is long but I know if I would have appreciated reading this input when shopping around. Battery life: I timed the use when I first got it and ran it for ~40 minutes switching between hard floor and carpet settings and it did not run out. I think it's only died on me once or twice in the entire time I've had it, and that's when I was vacuuming the entire ~3000 sq ft house in one go. Since I usually stick to just upstairs or just downstairs at a time, battery isn't an issue for me even on the high power setting. Suction/dust cup capacity: the suction is only ever affected when the dust collector cup is seriously full, and since we had two cats and one dog and were catching up on a long time of neglecting vacuuming, this was pretty often at first. Since then we've gotten through one or two full battery charges worth of cleaning without having to empty, which means the suction has been great. We use crystal cat litter that sometimes gets statically stuck to our cat's fur and he will shake it off on the carpeted floor. This vacuum has been great at getting the litter (and fur of course) out of the carpet. Not to mention actually emptying the dust cup is super easy too. Hand vac/crevice tool: switching attachments is also very easy. I had a super cheap hand vac I used to use for crevices and cleaning my car, but no more. This is great for getting in between couch cushions, car seats, cup holders, floorboards, etc. Brush roll: I have long hair and I shed a lot more than the average person. One of the biggest deciding factors between brands for me was the ability to get my hair out of the brush roll and I definitely made the right choice on this one. Even when my hair is clogging the brush roll, it has never once actually stopped it from rolling and has barely changed the effectiveness at all. When I do clean it out - it's SO easy thanks to the grooves on the roll and the bristle design. Even on other vacuums that are supposedly designed to easily clean the brush roll, it has never been this easy before. Down side: The only suggestion for improvement I have is that the tiny wheels on the front of the vacuum head were tangled with fur/dust/hair after the second or third use. Unlike the brush roll, it seems impossible to fix this. On the other hand, even though I'm not sure those wheels even roll anymore, it hasn't actually seemed to have any effect on the vacuum's functionality which is why I'm still giving five stars. If you are on the fence about getting a stick vac in general: I cannot recommend it enough and it is absolutely worth making the switch. My partner and I both have depression and ADHD which makes it very hard for us to find the motivation to clean. Since getting this vacuum I am not kidding, I have vacuumed more in the past year than I have the rest of my adult life (I'm 32! Yes, this is embarrassing!). We keep this near the kitchen within easy reach and eye sight, and it's small enough not to be in the way. We also have carpeted stairs which were the worst to have to deal with - both mentally and literally - and now I vacuum them regularly just because it's so easy. We have had multiple full size/traditional "pet" specific vacuums before and this specific model has equal or better suction power and is so much more convenient than all of them. And it fits under the couch!

Perfect stick vacuum, as long as it fits your demands
As a disclaimer, our home is 1700ft2, and about 2/3 of it is carpeted. The vacuum works phenomenal on the regular carpeting and hardwood in the house, but struggles a little bit with the wool area rug. The variety of ways this vacuum can be assembled makes it extremely versatile. For example, using the regular brush roll head while removing the extension works wonders on the carpeted stairs. The short "handheld" version with the scraper does great on the couch. And the extension, with the small ended nozzle, works great for after the initial vacuuming, getting all the dirt along the edges of the rooms and furniture. It lays down almost flat, so getting under things like the dog food bowls, the couch, the dining room table etc are a breeze. So the reason I made the title the way it is, is related to battery life. To realistically clean our first floor (mostly hardwood/tile + wool rug) and the second floor (totally carpeted) will eat up the entire battery. The battery is NOT fast to charge. The runtime is based I believe on the vacuum running in "handheld mode" (aka without the brush head). So, if you're home is over 1500ft2 and mostly carpeted, you're going to have to throw it on the charger for a while most likely. I think it would greatly benefit Shark to come up with swappable batteries, think Milwaukee or DeWalt style. If you're handy you can do this yourself, but it would greatly benefit the company to have a proprietary design for this. Another con, though I hesitate to call it a con based on the portability of this vacuum, is the power. As mentioned, it does great on our regular carpeting, but just isn't as good as the corded Shark we've had for almost 10 years. This is to be expected as the motor in the corded vac draws significantly more power than the cordless battery version, but still worth mentioning. The vacuum is very light and easy to use. The blue light on the front of the roller head is AWESOME, and will show every spec of dirt on any uncarpeted surface. Overall, for the sale price we got it at (I want to say between $175-225, can't remember exactly) it has been excellent. Just keep in mind how much you're going to want to run it at once, as if you're living space is too big, you will have to take long breaks to recharge the vacuum.

Light, convenient, works well
I've been using my Shark Cordless vacuum for a few months now. I still love it. I was waiting to make sure it kept working before reviewing. So far, so good. I haven't had the best luck with the less expensive cordless vacuums. One was so hard to clean I just sent it back. Another had a problem with the rollers not spinning. I managed to keep it going for 2 years but always presented problems. This one is easy. The rollers stop the nanosecond a problem is detected and nothing has gotten wrapped up in them. This one is not so expensive that I couldn't afford it and is what I was looking for. It seems durable and hopefully it will last more than a few years. It's easy to use, lightweight and empties very easily. Just hold it over the garbage can and push the button. Nice. It's also easy to charge. I just plug it in next to a wall and let it charge. My only complaint is actually that the charge barely lasts long enough. I have 1204 sq. ft. on 3 levels. I use a larger, corded vacuum for the top level that has 2 carpeted bedrooms. So, I'm only vacuuming the hard floors on the 2nd level (with some throw rugs) and the carpeted living room on the ground floor. Also 18 total carpeted steps. So, I wish the charge would last another 10-15 minutes for a more complete job. That said, it works so well, that I'm still very happy. The best part is that it's small enough and light enough to make cleaning the stairs a lot less of a chore than with a full-sized regular vacuum. The rollers pull strongly and the suction is quite adequate. Not overwhelmingly so but does the job. I have 2 cats and need to be able to have a handy device especially for the steps where they love to play.

Works well, not worth full price though
Works well, but doesn’t get close to walls on the sides or front. Charge lasts a good amount of time, easy to empty canister, but it’s kind of a pain to clean the canister because water gets trapped and won’t dry even after two days sitting open. This vacuum works opposite of every other vacuum I’ve had - it sucks up rugs I can normally vacuum over and vacuums rugs I’d normally suck up. Make it make sense! It works well for hard floors but carpet and rugs take a few passes to get visible hair/dirt/crumbs. It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, the light works really well for seeing what needs vacuumed up on the hardwood, and it’s solid enough to feel like it’s doing a good job as opposed to feeling like I might break it if I bump something or roll over thresholds. The canister/battery attaching to the vacuum while charging is an excellent feature and keeps the vacuum from falling over or needing a bracket attached to the wall - I can charge it anywhere.

Great value and strong power!
I bought this during a sale and have had it for a little over two months. This was recommended by my friends and family who also have it. I love the convenience of using it as a stick vacuum and also for quick messes with the attachments. It holds a decent charge too. One thing I don't like is the super suction, you have to hold down the trigger to keep it on. I wish there was a way to keep it on. It has a strong suction though and the light helps me see all the dog fur on the ground. I mainly use it on hardwood floors and some rugs. It's a great little vacuum and I'm very happy I bought it!

Best Vacuum I ever had
I love this vacuum. Holds a charge for a long time. It great at pet hair pick up, as a matter of fact you only have to be near the hair and it sucks it in. Easy to clean and my favorite part is no cord. My only complaint is the it is top heavy, so difficult to keep it from falling over when leaning against a wall. I figured out that if I remove the top part, the heavy part, from the rest of the vacuum, I can lean both against a wall. Then just put it back together, which is very easy, and continue my cleaning. I highly recommend this vacuum.

Nice little light fun machine for $200ish but $300+ isn't worth it
Features look neat but they don't all reflect what happens. 1. The light feature does show other dirt not detectable by my eyes. But there's not enough power to suck it all up. I go on my hands and knees cleaning what I've missed. Cool feature and at least it does show where I need to wipe up the remaining dust/dirt. I just wouldn't bother paying extra for it. 1a. Due to the lack of power, though, I easily vac our bathroom rugs without going into contortions to stop the rug from being vac'd up. That's a plus. 2. Just used the vac and it caught a string from a pair of sweats (I use an old sweatpants on the floor to block light). The string wrapped around where the fabric (that replaced brushes) wasn't. Pulling it out of my canister vac bristles is easier to me. 3. The weight is wonderful and that's why my focus was on this and a friend recommended it (hers is the more expensive model was reduced to $200 with a runtime* of up to 50 minutes) with a catch. 3a. The estimated "standard" runtime states it's only for the handvac and I'll likely never use that. I also wouldn't pay for the feature. I can use this vac on our stairs and stair treads so it makes using the handvac not needed anymore. 4. The HEPA is amazing. I used my canister vac for the lower floor today and it's supposed to be HEPA but my nose was on the run. I haven't replaced or washed it. 5. I was concerned about the dust collector but I opened it fully in a plastic bag, pulled out some dirt, closed it up and I didn't even sense the dust in my nose. Just keep in mind the size is small as I only use it on hw floors with rugs (3 bedrms) on one floor and leave the carpeting on another floor for the canister. It's a neat little machine for $200 that I wouldn't have bought if I were younger :) when I was buying more expensive HEPA only canisters and could carry them with ease. But with the price jumping to over $300, for me, it's not worth it.

Lightweight and effective -- but not your nan's metal Hoover
This thing weighs nothing and it does so by not having many parts, or heavy parts. It will not feel like an heirloom and if you are used to an all-metal 1970s Hoover you will be disappointed. It's unlikely to last 40 years anyway. However, suction is very good, the anti-clog rotating head does a great job not fouling up with pet hair, the light weight makes it more likely to actually see use, and with an adapter you can run Milwaukee batteries on your Shark vac. The 8 Ah Milwaukee battery feels like hauling a cinder block around but it should provide several hours of run time. If you don't have carpets, a pet Samquanch, or some combination thereof this may work as your only vacuum. With pets and mixed flooring this will do very nicely and very practically for every day stuff, and the corded vac only needs to come out if something hits the fan. The plasticky feel takes a little while to overcome, but there's a reason this feels like cheap plastic: it's cheap plastic. Another drawback: you have to pull off the head piece to empty the bin, or to get the vacuum to stow away upright. You can neither empty it nor get it to stand upright on its own if it is intact. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be in jail. Still strongly recommended. Buy it on sale.

Although powerful, it is a waste of money.
Although powerful, it only runs for around 15 minutes, if you are lucky and, I thought it would run on power as well like a mobile phone but, it does not. It is a waste of money.

Passes the Test!
This vaccum is passing the test! I had the pet pro detect and was disappointed. It kept getting clogged with EVERY use, and was difficult to unclogg. The vertex hasn't clogged on me. I have 3 young kids, both hard and carpeted floors. It has a great battery life and is compact yet powerful. Super easy to empty and generally impressed with it overall. It is also quieter than expected without losing out on power!
