I’m Happy With This Cooler
June 2026 Update - The original one I bought in Dec '24 stopped cooling (got a year and a half of 24/7 use, which I think is pretty darned good), so I bought a new unit. It never cooled adequately, and I had to trash it. In June 2026, I purchased a third one, and it's working great. Read below for more ...Sept 2025 Update - Nine months after I started using this, it's still working perfectly. Keeping my food cold and safe, running on household AC current and standard electrical extension cord. (I currently have no refrigerator) Read more below.Dec 2024 My refrigerator died and, for various reasons, I’m unable to get a new one for a while. I was using a standard picnic cooler and ice packs, but refreezing the ice packs was a hassle, and food wasn’t really kept at a safe temperature. A friend told me about these electric coolers. After researching various brands and checking reviews, I settled on this one. So far, I’m happy.Main thing, this will plug into a wall, not just a car’s cigarette lighter, so I can use it in my home. And it doesn’t pull a lot of electricity, so even a standard electrical extension cord is safe. (No need for a heavy-duty cord.)I considered mini-refrigerators, which are pretty affordable. But they’re heavy, bulky, and the doors swing sideways, which would scrape up my kitchen floor. This Ivation cooler is lightweight, compact, roomy enough for my needs, and the lid opens upward, which is helpful since I have it sitting on my kitchen floor and can reach inside easily. My first tests with the (decades old) thermometer that I use in my koi pond, the temperature readings were about 50*. But my food items felt colder than that, and I wanted to be safe, so I bought a new household thermometer, and new readings have been consistently at 38*, which is considered safe. I’m vegetarian, so I’m not storing raw meat or much dairy, so mostly I’m trying to keep vegetables, the occasional leftover carryout, and opened cans of cat food safe. I feel this cooler is doing the job.A few things to know … The cooling mechanism is in the lid, so the unit is a bit top-heavy. The unit exhausts upward, so resist the idea that you can set anything on top of it. There is a constant “whirring” noise from the fan, but not too loud, and no clunks or on-off interludes. A fair trade off, IMO.Cool air blows from the lid down into the cavity, so don’t fill it too full, or the air vents can be blocked. And keep space between food items inside, so air can circulate. Also, in a slightly humid environment, condensation can drip from the air vents onto your food. No biggie – I lay Handi-Wipes or dish towels over the top layer of food, and they catch any drips. I also put a Handi-Wipe on the floor of the cooler, to collect any water (minimal; I’ve not yet had to change one). When you open the lid, cold air escapes and can take a while to build back up inside, so take out what you need and close it back up quickly. This has been a big help to me in my unique situation. I’ve only been using it two weeks, so I have no comment on durability or longevity. But so far, I’m tickled. I’m hoping it will hold up under steady home AC usage, for a couple of years, at least. Price was reasonable.UPDATE: I've been using this for a month now, plugged into my kitchen wall outlet, and it's working great. Last week (after 3 weeks of use) I noticed it wasn't cooling as cold. I checked under the lid where the cooling mechanism / motor / fan is, and there was some ice build up. It was there still the next day. So I turned the cooler off for a few hours, to allow the ice to melt. Once it was melted and clear, and the little bit of dripped water cleaned up, I turned the unit back on, and within a short time, the temperature was down to about 38* again. Bottom line ... some weekly maintenance is a good idea, and check the motor area for icing over.

Worth it for a weekend trip
Purchased this cooler for a weekend camping trip and it worked perfect! Everything stayed cold, even when we unplugged it for the night (milk, sour cream, cheese, meat). It is a little noisy, but it's bigger than I thought and held everything we needed.

No ice required
It has worked fine on two long trips I have made. Keeps beverages cool and medicines refrigerated.Definitely better than buying ice for a cooler!

Makes an annoying buzzing noise
Cooled from 70 to 50deg in about an hour. Fan noise wasnt disturbing and expected. What u didn't expect was after running for 5min, a buzzing noise like plastic on plastic vibration. Held down the cover, handle, cord storage cover. Nothing. It was inside the lid. I couldn't stand the noise being in the same room as the cooler. Now image it a few feet away from my ears in a car.

I’m a truck driver, Love this Electric cooler!
*UPDATE Below*Ok so I’m an owner/operator of my semi-truck and we all use these things on the road. I had another popular brand that’s sold at many truck-stops across the country and it only lasted a year. So I found myself on Amazon scouring through the reviews of several and after reading some reviews about this product that were clearly owner errors, I decided to purchase one! I’ve had it since 2/16/23 and it’s been with me 5 days on the road. I absolutely love the 2 power cord option with storage! I have only used it with the regular plug in the wall cord because my truck has a built in power inverter with regular outlets. It’s not noisy like others complain about. It runs quietly. I put a 12 pack of zero sugar soda, room temperature in it and plugged it in. It took about 2 hours to pull all them down to around 40-43 degrees. There’s lots of room in it as well! Check out the pics to see how much I got to fit in it! I did drink 3 cans of soda prior to the picture, but they fit in it as well! I use this for my sit next to my drivers seat cooler so I can keep beverages and a bunch of veggie snacks cold & available to me as drive. So far it’s worked flawlessly for 5 days of straight running and no power off. If anything changes, I’ll report back here with an update. But for $35 cheaper than truck stop brands… it’s been a great buy for me!Update: March 20th, This cooler has ran pretty much non-stop for a month straight and it works amazing so far. Again I keep it plugged in using the 110 cord. 1 time I had to switch over to the 12v cord and I was a bit surprised, the metal tip was extremely hot and I could see how after a long use it might melt, but I probably had it plugged in that way for 6 hours. I’ll keep posting updates! I’m very happy so far.August 30th, 20236 months! Been pretty much running nonstop for me! Keeps everything nice and cold. It did tip over once when I went around a corner and now my fan has a little bit of a noise to it. Oddly the noise goes away when I lift the lid all the way open? But when I close it, it comes back. It’s not unbearable and it hasn’t stopped it from cooling! I’ll continue to use it as my beverage and snack cooler to sit next to my seat until it dies out. Again I’ve also ran this ONLY on AC current through my power inverter. So I guess here’s to hoping I can update positively in another 6 months!June 13th, 2024It’s dead. It ran pretty much non-stop from date of purchase and after 16 months it no longer works. I never used the 12v plug in because it got hot when I did and I see other reviews where theirs had melted so I used the regular outlet to my power inverter. I did try it in the 12v plug to see if by chance it was the other cord. Nope, it’s dead. It barely lights up the light green and won’t turn on the fan. The red light on heat lights up completely, but again the fan doesn’t turn on. Anyways, I’ve had other coolers like this last years. Guess I’ll have to go back to one of those brands. I gave it a good go, sorry Ivation your product just couldn’t hold up to this trucker.

Very well designed!
I am so loving this cooler! We have a vacation home 6 hours away and when we leave there we always have food leftover. This cooler is absolutely perfect for brining home leftovers, picking up something on the way home, etc. I didn’t think the cord being stowed inside was a big deal but now that I have this I see the value of it. No losing the cord, no having the cord dangling around. Very good design! It is lightweight and very easy to carry. I have not used it as a warmer so can not speak to that feature.

Dual power options
Dual 12v & 120v, comes in handy; easy to retrieve items while plugged in. Perfect for semi trucks. Can unplug in Semi or car than plugged in at home; no need to remove items just unplugged take to car than home. The handle makes this easy.

Great cooler for travelling long distances
This came in so handy for a weeklong adventure with my dogs! One of them has diabetes so I needed to make sure that the insulin can stay cool throughout our whole day's drive. I really appreciate the option to plug into a wall or your car! Great find and fits easily between seats!
