Great little case!
I need to frame this recommendation for you. I have a sleek car (Audi A7) with not much in the way of angles or places to catch anything. A few days ago I was pulling out of a parking lot onto a highway that has two lanes in each direction with a posted speed limit of 45 mph. It was lunch time on a sunny day, lots of traffic. I got up to around 45 mph and heard a thump, looked in my rear view mirror and saw something brown bounce off the hatch lid and onto the road. I knew immediately it was my Kindle! I’d put in on the roof of my car as I was loading things into it and drove off. I had to go a half mile or so up the road to be able to turn around and then over a mile to turn back around. I made five different passes looking for it - really upsetting a lot of other drivers as I did so. I was just about to give up on it when I saw something in the middle of the road between the two yellow lines that were just a few inches apart. I pulled off into a driveway and ran back, waiting until I had a break in the traffic and ran out and got it. I was amazed! The case was barely scratched and the Kindle was unmarked and working fine. I suppose it’s safe to assume that due to where it landed, other cars had missed it, but without a doubt it had hit the road surface at 45 mph! I’m certain that if I had no case or a crappy one, my Kindle would have been gone and likely in pieces. I’d post a picture of it but it would just look like a nice Kindle in a nice case, adding nothing to the recommendation. I can only say, you should buy one for your Kindle, it fits well and looks great, and if you’re stupid enough to drive off with it on top of your car, there’s a chance it’ll be ok.

Nice!
I have the Paperwhite Signature, think it is 11th generation. When I bought it, I picked the Kindle case that kind of looks like denim fabric. It did not hold up well. In a very short time, a month or so, it was fraying around the edges - though I admit, the Kindle was tossed into my bag and taken everywhere with me, I was not precious with it - still, one would expect an almost $40 case to hold up for longer than it did. Structurally it is still fine, it just looks bad with the edges all fuzzy. I have had $10 device cases that held up better. This one is not fabric. So far I like it. In the description it says leather, though I am not sure about that, it doesn’t feel like leather. Maybe it is some mixture of leather and plastic. I am hoping whatever it is, it will stay looking nice for longer. I got the Merlot color, which is like a dark brick red. It has texture, which I like, it feels good in your hands and is not slippery at all. I think I might get a fabric sleeve or pouch to keep it in when I take it with me, just for some extra protection, and will update my review in a few months.

BUY THIS PRODUCT!
I love this Kindle case! I have tried multiple cases and never considered purchasing the Amazon-brand Kindle cases. I've purchased other Kindle cases (third-party brands) & even on Etsy. I love that this case is magnetic. It's comfortable to hold and adds zero weight to the Kindle. The fit is seamless and lightweight. I love how the cover has the automatic sleep/wake feature. I recommend purchasing this case rather than looking elsewhere! :)

Feels good in your hands + 1 yr retrospective
I got this cover as part of a bundle for my new Paperwhite. It's super nice! The texture is just right in your hands. It's got a little magnet to help clip the cover to itself when you have the cover open and folded back on itself. Your Kindle automatically goes to sleep when you close the cover, and automatically wakes up when you open it.It's not super sturdy, so don't plan on being careless with your Kindle, but it's certainly no lightweight, either! I've already dropped my Paperwhite half a dozen times and the case really does help.My only complaint would be is that the cover side is sort of flimsy, especially at the "binding". Make sure you tuck the cover back in itself because I'm 99% sure that binding won't take a ton of abuse.ETA: I've had this case for about a year now. To be honest, I didn't expect it to last as long as it has, so I thought maybe a short retrospective for potential buyers would be helpful. This case has been dropped, had (a little!) water spilled on it, been wiped down with Clorox wipes, slept on, stepped on, dropped, and, once, when I had a fit of pique, thrown. Yes, all of that, with the Kindle in it and all. It's surprising this thing has lasted so long and that I haven't shattered my Kindle. Some of the edges are beginning to fray just slightly. The front cover still sits flush with the Kindle screen, but if I grab it just so, the cover will skew a bit. Looks like the "binding" is starting to loosen up.Pretty sure the back part of the cover (which holds the actual Kindle) could survive the apocalypse. The front cover will probably fall off by the end of next year in my case. Two years isn't bad to be quite honest. If you're a "gentle" user, the thing might last twice that.Great value case.
