Grill Temperature Gauge BBQ Smoker Thermometer for Charcoal Grill and Pit

This temperature gauge works great on my Charbroil gas grill. Charbroil no longer carries the gauge, with emblem that fits my grill. The old gauge stopped showing the temperature. So, I thought I'd try this one since it was inexpensive, looked good, and had the features I wanted. Easy install and works great. Now I can adjust the temperature and grill properly. Removing the old gauge and emblem leaves a hole in the grill cover, but a bolt and washer solved that problem easily. I now expect I'll get many more years of service from this grill.

Works

Listing had several grills listed as compatible, mine included, but the hole for thermo on the grill was just a hair too small for the threaded portion of the thermo. The casing for the original thermo that came with the grill was also too small for the main body of the thermo, so basically had to drill out the whole just a smidge so the thermo would be mountable and not bother with the casing. Sticks out a but but functional either way and grills aren't meant to be pretty anyway. Facing of the thermo has reflective material in it which can glare pretty hard but at the right angle makes the lettering pop. Seems a silly feature to have a reflective surface though... can't imagine a need for it. The thermo works though and has temp ranges on it that will save me from second guessing how hot to get the grill for different situations. All in all it is a nice product, just misleading on it natively working with all the grills in the listing. You very likely will have to modify your grill to use it.

Just added this to the exhaust side for indirect grilling on my Weber Kettle. Boiling water tested it, very accurate. The newspaper was for catching shavings from drilling the hole in case you were wondering. It’s a porcelain finish so do your research on drilling.

UPDATE July 2020 - Well had tried some pizza at high temp 700 and there grease on the heat block from a previous smoke on a brisket and well, a little fire later and the temp exceeded max. in the next few cooks I noticed the thermometer reading about 40 degrees low using two separate digital thermometers. THe nice thing is that tyou can adjust these using a small flat head screwdriver, using a boiling water to test and was able to use the screw driver to adjust the thermometer to match the boiling water temp. Reinstalled and seems to be working ok. Not taking a chance, though ordering a spare. Price is up about $6 but its still a good price regardless I bought this as a replacement for my Pit Boss Kamado Cermaric Grill that I purchased at Costco over a year ago. The look was similar as were the measurements. Turns out it is almost an exact fit (see pics)- no fiddling around trying to jury rig a new gauge to fit. The gauge that comes with the Pit Boss is pretty horrible and always was about 100 degrees off the digital one that I use and finally just stopped working all together (stuck on 400 degrees). So instead of going to Tel-Tru, paying a much higher price, and per the reviews didn't seem to be a good fit, I decided to give this one a try. I put it up against the boiling water test right out of the box and it read right at 212 degrees. Easy install - 2-3 minutes, no tools required. We'll see how it goes long term, but at this point if you have a pit boss and $10 this is a fast, cheap, and more accurate replacement for the original.

This is a great bbq thermometer! I got this almost 3 years ago to go in my Masterbuilt 1050 Gravity smoker for 3 initial reasons. First it reads in actual degree numbers rather than vague areas of smoke, sear…etc. Secondly, the degree range runs up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit and most only go to around 550. And third, it had good user reviews. The fact that it is way cheaper than the “influencer” brands didn’t hurt either. This thermometer is super accurate and has held up for almost three years and is still going strong. I have recommended this to several of my fellow bbq buddies and shared with some Masterbuilt groups that I’m in. I highly recommend this thermometer.

Bought this for my Acorn Jr as the original hot stuck at 400°. It is a bit bigger and doesn't fit quite the same as the original, BUT, after installing it and tightening the nut sufficiently there was no smoke leake, and the dial is more prominent and easier to read than the original so I actually like it. I compared its temp reading with an instant read stuck in the side right at grate level and they were extremely close so I'm satisfied with the initial accuracy. Only used it for a few cooks so far, so we'll see how long it lasts, but I'm satisfied so far.

I tested this for accuracy in some boiling water and compared it to my digital thermometer. It was very accurate, only varied from the digital thermometer by 5 Degrees F. Most surprising is that it comes with a little note in the box telling you that this has been calibrated. It actually has a screw at the end of the stem which allows you to calibrate the thermometer which is great. Have not installed it yet in my weber kettle, will let you know how that goes. Dec ‘21 - update. Installed nicely in my Weber kettle and works great.
