I maintain a private web page of technical information and reviews, and have been trying to get more pictures added in to illustrate my choices of hardware and show walk-throughs of various construction projects. Lighting is always a problem for me though, and I bought this ring light recently to try to solve my problems of deep shadows, poor contrast, and glare. So far, this light has worked out really well in all those areas. The light is larger (wider) than the pictures in the listing suggest, and has a large number of individual LED modules in the ring, so it produces a very even lighting. I'm not using it for portraits so I don't need the orange diffuser or the remote. The body of the light is all plastic, which gives it a kind of cheap feel, but it's sturdy and being lightweight should help others. (it might not survive drops well, so be careful with it, make sure it doesn't get knocked over while in use) The stand is a thin metal which also feels a little cheap but that's good for the same reason as the body. The feet extend out quite a bit and create a surprisingly wide support base. Before i attached the diffuser, I found I was seeing speckles of light glare reflected off some of the shinier surfaces, but those "stars" all disappeared as soon as I attached the diffuser. I suppose the orange one creates better lighting for portrait pictures? It comes with a large power brick with an okay length cord. (could be a little longer, but that's not hard to fix with an extension cord) The dimmer is built into the bottom of the light, and has knob to turn to adjust brightness. The control does a great job of adjusting the brightness, and I love the feel of the knob, you can feel tiny "steps" as you turn the knob. It's also fully adjustable all the way down to completely off. Thankfully, the cord unplugs at the light, so I'm not struggling to manage a cord permanently attached to the ring. The light comes with several accessories for use with a regular camera as well as clipping a smart phone. There's also a little remote that I assume you can use with a downloaded app on your phone to trigger the shutter remotely, though I don't have any use for that and haven't checked it out. The light and accessories ship in a nice bag but the tripod is in its own box and cannot be stored in the bag that the light came with, which is a shame. But with the tripod fully collapsed, I've found it can be set snugly below your hand / on top of the bag as you carry it, so that will help with those that need portability. I would also suggest getting a small, stiff-walled zip pouch to carry the light's power pack and phone brackets with inside the main bag, because it has no inner pouch for these and just dropping them into the big bag to run around free is probably a bad plan. And not that I need it personally, but I think a battery pack option would be a very useful accessory with this light, which would improve its portability. The pack is 15vdc 4 amps, which may make finding a battery pack a challenge since I'd expect 12v power to be more common. So this is a great light for the price. There are only a few minor issues with it that can be addressed if needed, totally acceptable considering this light is like 1/3 the price of a more professional set with similar features and performance.

I got this NEEWER 18” ring light for content creation and my workspace, and it definitely upgraded my setup. I bought the NEEWER 18" RL-18 Ring Light Kit after struggling with smaller lights that left my TikTok tutorials dim and uneven. I’ve been using it for the past six months, three to four times per week, mostly for overhead cooking shots and makeup recordings in my home studio. The difference was immediate. The 240 LEDs deliver a soft, even 55W daylight glow (5600K) that erases shadows and makes skin tones look natural. The large 18-inch size covers a wide area, so I no longer need extra desk lamps. The pros are strong. First, the light quality is excellent for both video and photography, giving my content a professional look. Second, the included color filters surprised me-especially the warm filter, which adds a flattering tone compared to plain white. Third, the Bluetooth remote became part of my routine, letting me start and stop recordings without touching my iPhone. There are drawbacks. The included 61-inch stand is lightweight and feels unstable if extended too high, so I keep it lower when filming around kids. The plastic housing and filters feel fragile compared to pro gear. Also, the stand legs are packed upside down, which was confusing to set up the first time. Compared to my old 12" UBeesize ring light, the Neewer is far more powerful and covers more space, though the UBeesize was easier to store. Against a professional Godox light, this kit feels less durable, but you’re getting about 90% of the lighting quality for a fraction of the price. An unexpected bonus was the catchlight effect-that perfect circle reflected in my eyes instantly made videos look more polished. If you’re a beginner creator or small business owner looking for affordable, professional lighting for TikTok, YouTube, or product shots, this kit is a great choice. If you shoot daily in a full studio, investing in a heavy-duty setup like Godox or Manfrotto will make more sense. My one suggestion for improvement is for Neewer to upgrade the stand’s locks to metal for more stability.

The lighting is super bright and adjustable, making my photos and videos look much more professional. It was easy to set up and feels sturdy. Perfect for selfies, makeup, TikTok, live streaming, or content creation. Great value for the price and definitely worth it!

I bought this in 2020 and it's still going strong. I've moved a few times and it's fallen several times. Still sturdy. The part that holds the phone broke a bit a year ago, but I think it fell one too many times. I have even used it as a light source in my dark garage as i was refinishing furniture for 8 months! Lol. It still works as a regular ring light as i film videos of myself. Buy this!

Review is for the Neewer 18 inch ring light. I point out several negative things in my review, but that does not mean this is a bad product. It is a good product I would recommend. I purchased this to better illuminate products I sell. I also use it for live streaming. It is extremely bright and at its max could be temporarily blinding. I would suggest not using full brightness until you are familiar with it. The brightness is easily adjusted with a dial at the base of the light. Setting the brightness a little less than half way works well for pictures of products. Setting it to Half way is a sweet spot For live streaming. The light looks natural and colors are true to life. I use the frosted covers to help diffuse the light. The quality of light is excellent. Pictures I take with my phone look just as good with the ring light as they would in natural light. Using the light with a webcam looks amazing. The ring light is extremely large. I did not consider just how large an 18 inch light is prior to ordering. Make sure you can accommodate such a large light. It is an eye sore. It's Not something you want to keep out on display. Fully extended it is very tall and if bent at the gooseneck or joint will easily topple over. It is very top heavy. I attach a couple of bungies to something sturdier to help secure it. The stand can be adjusted to many different heights. The light turns in any direction. The phone cradle works for taking pictures without shadowing, but It is flimsy and a bother to adjust. It can be removed and replaced as there is a 1/4 inch screw. The legs are wonky and if used any other way than extended outward flat will make it unstable. The ring light does come apart from the base so it can be hung or mounted if needed. Adjusting the knobs, gooseneck, and joints to get the light positioned properly can be cumbersome. A few other things I want to mention. The light puts off barely any heat. It comes with instructions, but the translation is bad. It's not the easiest to set up, but If you can program a VCR you won't have any problem setting it up. The build quality is cheap. I don't expect The stand and knobs to last more than a few years. The actual ring light while it is cheap seems like it will last much longer. I haven't used the remote. The orange covers for light diffusion serve no purpose. The clear covers make a big difference. I didn't use them at first, but after trying them I use them all the time. The carrying bag is nice, but I never take the light anywhere so I don't use it. To summarize my review of the Neewer 18 inch ring light. The quality of light and brightness are excellent. It is so much better than other ring lights I have used. Take size into consideration. Build quality is cheap, but is average For similarly priced ring lights. I can definitely recommend the Neewer 18 inch ring light. The only reason I won't give five stars is the cheap build.

This review is going to be a bit lengthy lol. First of all be prepared to receive absolutely NO instructions with this ring light whatsoever. You literally have to sit there and just play with it to figure out how to expand the tripod, how to snap the filters onto the ring light itself, how to mount the ring light onto the tripod once you've gotten the filters on, how to make sure everything is tightened down once fully assembled and finally, how to use the hot shoe camera and camera phone mounts that come with this set. (I haven't even begun to figure out how to use the Bluetooth remote that came with this set, and while I'm THRILLED this is included, it would be nice to have instructions on how to use it lol). This set includes TWO, I repeat TWO power cords, and one is for use in another country! This is great, but without instructions you'll be sitting there confused for a bit trying to figure out what to do with the darn thing. Very annoying! As far as the ring light itself, it's good. I'm a wig maker so I purchased the ring light to take better pictures of my mannequins wearing my wigs. I've attached 4 pics with this review, 2 pics taken with natural sunlight, and 2 taken with this ring light so you can decide for yourself which looks best. For me there wasn't a ton of difference. Natural sunlight looks just as beautiful as the ring light to be honest. The ring light did create more definition in the HAIR itself, but because of the ring light's brightness I lost definition in the mannequin. This kind of evened things out for me in terms of deciding which lighting, natural or ring light, is best for MY particular needs. I did go ahead and give this ring light 5 stars. Why? Certainly not because of the great instruction manual that came with it (scathing sarcasm). Because of the PRICE. Name brand ring lights of this size are literally hundreds of dollars, and I got this one for just a little over $120 on sale. This price, along with the fact that it was well packaged, with all of the necessary pieces/parts and performed well once I fired it up and started taking pics with it earns it 5 stars. But was it this incredible, MAGICAL halo of light that transformed my pics into something out of this world?? Nope. Not at all. For my specific purposes this light is only slightly better than natural sunlight. As you'll see in my pics. In all fairness though, I have to mention that I haven't taken any VIDEO using this ring light, which is typically what these lights are used for. Folks who make videos LOVE and swear by these things, so this may be absolutely fantastic for creating beautiful videos. But again for my purposes of photographing my mannequins/wigs, the difference in using the ring light versus not didn't blow me away. I do eventually plan to make videos using this light so I will come back and edit this feedback at some point once I see how it works for that application. In the final analysis, because of the awesome price of this ring light for what you get, I can definitely recommend it. But had this ring light been $200-$300 dollars or anywhere NEAR, it'd be going back.

Es una pasada de aro de luz. Sus 48 cm de diámetro ofrecen una cobertura brutal y los 55W de potencia iluminan muchísimo sin deslumbrar gracias a los difusores. El potenciómetro permite regular la intensidad a la perfección. Me encanta que incluya el soporte para el móvil, los filtros de color y la bolsa de transporte para llevarlo a cualquier lado. El trípode es estable y se ajusta muy bien en altura. Excelente relación calidad-precio para directos, vídeos o fotografía.

Cuando pedí esta luz tenía muchas dudas porque la mayoría de los usuarios comentaban que era buena pero que el kit había llegado incompleto, o en algunos casos no funcionaban bien los leds. Muchos usuarios también comentaban sobre lo complicado que era instalar la luz. Finalmente, después de mucho analizarlo, me animé a pedir el producto y honestamente estoy muy satisfecha. Hasta el momento sólo recibí, instalé, y probé el kit, no lo he usado por horas y horas como quizá haya sido el caso de otros. Pero para el desempaque inicial y la prueba todo ha salido justo como lo necesitaba. En mi caso compré el kit para hacer maquillaje profesional en lugares donde la luz natural o artificial no es suficiente ya que mi trabajo es a domicilio y en ocasiones he tenido mucho problema para trabajar dado que la iluminación no me permite ver lo que estoy haciendo con el nivel de detalle que necesito. Dado que esta luz es regulable ofrece un rango enorme de intensidades, desde la más baja que es muy sutil, hasta la más alta que en verdad deslumbra. Se puede alumbrar un cuarto completamente oscuro con esa luz. Para usarla como luz portátil me parece una gran opción ya que no está pesada e incluye el estuche entonces es bastante conveniente a pesar de que haya que montar y desmontar (lo cual tampoco me pareció nada complicado a diferencia de lo que decían varios usuarios). El tri pie también ofrece un gran rango de alturas, y tiene una parte flexible entonces literalmente se puede posicionar la lámpara y cámara en cualquier punto y ángulo que se requiera. La única observación que tengo "en contra" por el momento es que el accesorio para el celular se ve un poco frágil. Espero que me dure mucho tiempo pero no podría garantizarlo. La ventaja es que este tipo de accesorios se pueden comprar también en Amazon. Pero en general me encanta el producto y espero usarlo muchos años para crear maquillajes increíbles, así como fotos, y videos. Les dejo foto de la luz ensamblada después de sacarla de la caja.

I have had this for a year. I do love it and I love how tall it is and easy to store. However the legs after - once a week filming use (if that) have become wobbly and now it doesn't stand up straight. My other question is how can I use it to film with two smartphones? Is there a special adapter thingie. Better quality then my previous purchases
