The best umbrella you can buy
I first bought the black Repel model, with a happy blue sky and clouds on the inside, after researching umbrellas on Amazon for hours and hours. I had just moved to the US, and was furious over the dozen umbrellas I'd bought in stores and online, which couldn't stand up to winter storms. In the 4 years since then, my Repel has been the BEST umbrella on any street I've walked down. I can watch other people's umbrellas turn inside out, snap their spokes, collapse over their heads - not mine!! It's incredibly sturdy, without being extra heavy. The materials are really high quality, and you'll be able to feel that as soon as you take it into your hand. Stands up even to big loads of snow collecting on top of it. Even when blizzard-level winds get under it and flip it for a moment, it smoothly comes back into shape. None of the spokes ever snapped. It collapses very neatly and rolls up tight. And I, at least, think it looks really stylish and cheery. Apart from keeping the rain off you, it dries very easily - much quicker than any other umbrellas I've owned. You can shake/ brush most of the water and snow right off it, even after hours outdoors.Very worth the price, especially if, like me, you add up all the $3 - $10 umbrellas you've bought and thrown away over a couple of years. This is so good that I bought a spare just to keep in the house. I feel apologetic for not leaving them a review earlier...Five stars and highly recommended.

Good choice
Did not face a wind storm with rain as of yet. Umbrella is easy to open and close, broad, and interesting when open. Have traveled with it. Glad for purchase.

The umbrella I didn't know I needed!
I ordered this earlier in the year. Amazon was asking for a review before I'd had a chance to use it. First, It's GORGEOUS. There are two layers...outside solid...and inside color printed. I need it for sun, wind, and rain protection and it does a great job. I have not yet experienced 85MPH winds so I cannot determine whether that claim is accurate. I love that I can push a button to open with one hand, and click it again to close. However, you do have to compress it in size before you can click the button to open again. That's the only down side. So far, I've been very happy with it.

Very sturdy. But hard to close handle.
Requires considerable strength to compact the handle after use. Very pretty, very sturdy umbrella.

I Don't Use Any Other Umbrella...
...mostly because this is the only one I own, but it's very solid. Granted I'm in CA and don't have to contend with the most extreme of weathers but it's held up well for the few years I've had it. The automatic function works well and I've never had an issue opening/closing it. The teflon coating allows rain to be flung off easily and dries quickly. One small downside is that you may have to get your hand a liiittle bit wet when you push it down to reset the opening/closing mechanism but I feel it's a minor inconvenience at worst. I bought the Blue Sky color and it looks good, just that it does appear VERY minor wrinkling from the fabric itself being wrinkled (the print itself is bright and clear) and there isn't really a way to smooth it out aside maybe from ironing it or something? But this doesn't affect the function at all and again is at most a minor aesthetic inconvenience. It is solid overall and the only thing was the top plastic cap that protects the top fell out once but it screws back on. Pretty compact umbrella, I stow it in the water bottle holder for my backpack and has served me well through college and after.Satisfying to use, I would endorse it for anyone who requires a personal umbrella.

unbalanced, weighty and hard to close
Second edit: Big kudos on the customer service department; they truly do want to make their customers happy. They reached out to me and now I'm using their EXCELLENT inverted umbrella instead of a travel umbrella (see separate review). I do want to re-emphasize that my DH loves his Repel travel umbrella! I think the ergonomics just depend on the user.Edit!! I originally gave it 4 stars for this:"Beautifully well made and sturdy. I would totally trust it not to collapse in a windstorm and to actually fend off a torrential downpour--but have not had the chance to try it out. That being said... It's named a TRAVEL umbrella, the purpose for which I bought it. Pretty darn heavy, more so than my old mini Tote... I did recently pack it to take with me to Europe, but even on misty, potentially rainy days, I didn't carry it around in my day bag due to the extra weight (choosing a bottle of water over the umbrella).* My own fault for not quite understanding exactly how much 1.1 pounds weighs. But I also question "small enough to fit in your purse"; guess it depends on the size of your purse. A bit bulky, though it will fit into a tote, backpack or briefcase. On the bright side, it's perfect to keep in my car! Much more compact than the golf umbrella I'd stashed there--and at a great price for the quality.*I must add that my SO took his along too, and felt it was great! So you've got 2 opinions for the price of one--altogether, a 4.5 ranking."BUT, having now used it: no!! Not only is it uncomfortable to hold for more that a couple of minutes due to the short length of the handle (and short strap doesn't even fit around my hand), but it is very difficult to close: when you get it furled, the ribs will not go back into the handles unless you push really hard--impossible to do sitting in the car with it next to me or in my lap (therefore getting rain runoff all over me & the seat). And so not being able to fully close the umbrella also adds to the total closed length if you need to re-stuff it into a bag... Worse, though is that its sturdy, heavy construction makes it very top heavy--again, you must have significant wrist strength to hold it upright without tilting over. That may be fine when it's raining sideways but if you need to hold it straight up, it can be a challenge. While I hate to return such a well-made product--and to a small business--I can't see myself using this again. So I am planning to return mine. :-(

Buen producto

Me encantó.
